This place has some of the best falafels I've had! I'm already craving more. I had the falafel plate and it came with pita bread, a cabbage salad, rice with green sauce over it, hummus, and about 4 falafel balls cut in half which was about $11. It was very, very filling and I didn't even eat the whole thing. I also had a piece of baklava for $2.50. All of the food was very fresh and tasty. The falafels were perfectly crisp and the sauces were very flavorful. The pita bread was freshly baked and very soft. The baklava was also very sweet and crunchy. I have no complaints, though I did see someone come back with their plate because their meat was undercooked and the restaurant made her a new plate right away. The seating here is scarce and you're sure to be staring at someone's back while you eat inside. But despite how busy and crowded this place gets, the food comes out at a very reasonable time because logistically they are very organized. I will be back here again soon! read more

I wish I liked this place more. I've gotten the falafel wrap 3 times now. Each time I think, maybe it'll be better than last time. The truth is the falafels themselves are mediocre. They don't have much structure, substance or flavor. The wrap is thin and the additional ingredients don't spice it up much. It's on the smaller side, especially for the price. And every time I give it another chance, it disappoints. You might want to keep on searching if you're really in the mood for falafel. read more

Had this place for the first time yesterday and it was great! We ordered the salad bowl with chicken shawarma, the chicken kebab rice plate, and the lady's kebab rice plate. Chicken Kebab (3/5): I thought the chicken was a little too thick but it might be just me and it was expected for a chicken kabob LOL. Next time I would just get the chicken shawarma cause the meat was sliced smaller and didn't feel as dry/tough! But the stuff that comes with it was good, as in the salad and rice and hummus! Kafta Kebab (4/5): I liked this meat better than the chicken, though I thought it was a little dry too. But I would still order it! This place had fast service and the food is delicious! I first tried this place because a coworker had picked up lunch for me here and I really enjoyed the falafel plate. So now whenever I'm in Oakland and craving falafels, I order the falafel plate and it fills me up. The falafels are not dry like some other places and the sauce they put on top is so tasty! I should probably ask for extra garlic sauce on the side next time. Everything in this meals comes nicely together and just works so well. Only thing I would change if they could grill the purple onions or make the slices smaller or else it's just too much onion in one bite. The place is very small inside so planning to dine-in here involves placing some tables and chairs on the sidewalk outside. Despite the area not being the most scenic or nice (being across from what appears to be a parking garage), it did feel nice to enjoy their food outside on a nice day. The workers here being friendly, the fun decor, and the quickness of the service all added up for a great experience here overall. I was able to try a variety of dishes here including their vegan appetizer platter, chicken kebabs, lamb kebabs, and their lamb and beef schwarma plate. Everything was solid here and each of the plates besides the appetizer came with some pita, hummus, turmeric rice, and coleslaw. All the variety made the meal feel very fulfilling and balanced. What I especially enjoyed was that the rice included small chunks of fresh tomato which livened it up quite a bit. The kebabs are great for those who enjoy good sized meaty pieces of chicken, lamb, etc but the real star of the show was the lamb and beef schwarma. That plate is definitely a good bang for one's buck as it came with a hefty amount of both beef and lamb. Not only that but I found the meat on the schwarma plate to be the most flavorful and delicious. The lamb for both the kebab and schwarma did not have a strong gamey taste which is perfect for those who aren't into that kind of flavor. I really appreciate the size of the wrap, which they cut in half, as well as the slight toast/char on the wrap itself. The half wrap is probably good enough for lunch if you are on a diet (and save the other half for dinner). The side salad was OK but the red sauce was really spicy. (2). Everything is the same except for the name change. I came here for lunch a couple weeks ago and found out their name has changed to Falafel Boy (used to be called Mazzat Grill). I asked the gentleman behind the counter and he told me nothing has changed except for the name. I had the Chicken Shish Tawook and it was still delicious. The nicely grilled chicken was moist and full of flavor. The meal came with hummus, salad, rice, and flatbread. They were all pretty good. For about $12 (tax included), it was a pretty satisfying lunch. They added a couple more tables in the back so it's easier to score one these days. Still a good place to grab a quick lunch in Uptown. I was looking for a restaurant that both my vegan and non-vegan family members could equally enjoy at our monthly dinner. Did an initial test drive with the falafels, chicken shawarma, and vegan app plate before committing to a large order and was not disappointed! All the food is delicious, the folks who run it are very friendly, and eaters of all kinds will love this place. We ended up placing a large order for about 10 people for pick up on a Sunday morning (also, what kind of place is open on a Sunday morning for pickup? This place!) and they nailed it all. My vegan family were so excited with the food and we had to keep reminding people to leave some falafel wraps for the vegans! Next time I think we would do 100% vegan because it's that good. The chicken shawerma here is so good! At first I was scared to try it, but my coworker wanted to order from here and it did not disappoint. My coworkers and I all tried it and fell in love. We'd doordash from here all the time. The bowl and plates are good portion sizes. The tahini sauce and chili sauce on the chicken shawerma makes it even better.
