To update my most recent review of this place after getting me the Kafta Kabab plate…read more... Amazingly good quality food and friendly service!! On a super chilly Friday night, after I had been done with my second hustle business not too far from this restaurant, before I headed for another business I would need to take care of, I stopped here as I was famished. I simply couldn't think of any other place where I could get food that always promises quality where I wouldn't have to wait too long to get it. I was truly fearful that my uncontrollable appetite would swallow me had I gone to a different restaurant where I might end up waiting too long (LOL!!) My choice was right. And to be greeted by the same kind gentleman (who had always assisted me in the past) warmed up the core of my heart and soul. He did say to me that I should have called in to place my order ahead because he said that the kitchen was quite busy and that I might wait at least or as long as 20 minutes. I told him I was willing to wait although my stomach continued to yell at me from inside!! Well, I got lucky; it didn't take long. See...my assumption was right; this place never disappoints. This time, instead of the usual I get (the vegetarian plate), I tried something different. It's the Kafta Kabob plate. This is another great dish to consider ordering at this place as long as meat is part of your diet. The meat was unapologetically tender and well-seasoned. It was hard to fathom as to how they perfected this technique to cook it to its perfection. The accompanying salad and hummus were gracefully served in the same container. Did I say that Golden's hummus is one of the best? I think I did at least once. It is because of its impeccable creaminess. Awww...I can eat this thing almost everyday if I must. This is a tiny, more of a family-run restaurant type place. Inside is quite basic and yet it's never messy or dirty. This is a place you can comfortably sit and dine without worrying about its cleanliness; sanitation is not an issue. But most of all, you go here for the quality of food. This place easily beats a fine restaurant in an upscale neighborhood for sure.

Falafel plate. Baklava. The vegetables are surprisingly fresh and the preparation is delicious. Don't miss this. We are now regulars.

They were served with a cucumber tomato salad with a deliciously light dressing. This salad, the tabbouleh and falafel were highlights for me. The falafel was fried fresh so it was light and fluffy inside but crispy outside. The shawarma and gyro meat were tasty too. My only complaint was that I wish there was more cauliflower on the vegetable plate. The decor is fun with vibrant couch cushions for the booths. We noticed most people came to pickup takeout orders, but service was good for our dine-in experience. I look forward to returning to try the shawarma pita and hopefully learn more about the business!

We decided to come here again last night and the biggest comment we had was, why did we stop dining here! The ambiance of the restaurant was incredibly comfortable and the decorations and Arabic music playing just added to the experience. Our server, who I believe was the owner as well, did a great job attending to us and he was very nice with helping us decide on our order. We ordeed the jibneh, which was like an Arabic cheesey bread, and the lamb kabob and chicken shwarma. The jibneh was nice and we are happy we tried it. It was the perfect, light appetizer. The stars of the show were no doubt the entrees though. The flavor of the lamb kabob was mouth watering, and the chicken shwarma was equally tasty and left my stomach incredibly happy. Each dish was served with pita, hummus, saffron rice, and one of the tastiest tahani sauces I've ever had! We were also served complimentary Mediterranean salads as well! Everything about our experience was amazing, and we will be coming back here very soon! If you're looking for shwarma on par with what you'd find in NYC, look no further!

Late this afternoon, even though we had planned a great dinner at home, Glenda said to me... 'Jerry, it's too hot for you to light up the Weber, let's head out to dinner'. I thought about Shondiz and we headed there for our first time. Good choice! Parking was right out front, air conditioning felt great, we were greeted warmly and handed the menus and two large glasses of ice cold, refreshing water. We shared two appetizers of falafel and yogurt dip, fresh pita with a garlic roasted eggplant tapenade, saffron rice, wonderfully roasted chicken and beef kabob with grilled tomato and japapeno on the side. Gotta say, the food was delicious and prepared to perfection! We were both satisfied immensely and for some reason, we had room for the homemade Persian ice cream with spices and grated pistachio. What a way to end a fine meal! The owner came out to offer his thanks for our very positive time there at his restaurant. We will return, highly recommended!
