The woman taking more order couldn't remember the answers to the questions she asked me and I wound up with hot sauce on my food... and she made to go, when I told her it'd be for here (twice) and declined hot sauce. Plus, I had to tell her which sauce was tahini. Ummmm don't you work here? Even on top of that, the food didn't taste fresh at all. And why do you need 3 types of salad on everything?? This is a regular spot for my fiancé and I! We love gyros and falafel and this place is fantastic. It is one of the only places that has a spicy sauce that really compliments the whole gyro. The staff is always friendly and it is almost never crowded. We rarely have to wait in line and our food is always quickly made to order! You should definitely stop in and try it! read more

I am thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the gyro pita and it was good but nothing stood out compared to other gyros Ive had. I also ordered a 6 pack of falafel balls expecting them to be decent based on the name of the place. They weren't. They were actually possibly the worst falafel ive ever had. I did a better job making falafel balls my first try. They were tasteless, bland, and seemed like they were previously frozen. My girlfriend got the falafel pita and agreed that the falafel was tasteless although the hummus wasnt bad. She got a side of french fries which were the actual worst both of us have ever tasted, certainly previously frozen and not seasoned with anything on top of having a consitency of cardboard. I will never go back to this place and will tell people not to go here. read more

I am like a hound dog for sniffing out smoothies. It's kind of to the point where I just find them accidentally now and that was the case at Falafel King. I was in the mood for a lighter lunch (no meat) and so I thought I'd hop in here quickly and pick up something with hummus or falafel, only to be greeted with a smoothie menu as soon as I walked in. Yes! I still ended up ordering the Falafel Plate which they let me get half and half hummus and falafel (3 balls instead of 6 that come on the regular plate) with two sides. While it was okay I wasn't a huge fan of the falafel balls themselves. They were kind of small and dry. I also ordered the aforementioned smoothie and while it took a long time to make it was quite thick and full of delicious fruits so I enjoyed my fix for the day. If I were in a pinch I might come back to this spot for lunch again, but I'll most likely choose another spot for my smoothie and/or falafel fix. read more

Finding one's self hungry while driving on S. Colorado Blvd. shouldn't be a problem, right? In a two-block stretch, one can find a Chipotle, a Spicy Pickle, a Swing Thai, a Heidi's, Tokyo San, Erawan Thai, and some new deli that has a moose in it's title. One can also find a Falafel King... and since something inside me said "mmmm.... falafel...." when my eyeballs scanned that sign, to Falafel King I went. Big. Mistake. What I wanted were hot, steamy balls of Middle Eastern goodness, crunchy on the outside, perfectly textured inside, amid a pile of fresh greens and tahini sauce and rolled in a soft, fresh pita. What I got were mushy, tepid, tasteless balls of grit amid a messy slurry of sauce and reasonably fresh greens, folded into a stale, cardboard, breaking-into-pieces-it-was-so-stiff pita. On the menu it said that the falafel pita sandwich came with my choice of salad. The server gestured to my options (greek salad, babaganouj, tabbouleh, etc...) and I chose marinated eggplant, thinking that it would come on the side. Nope. She dumped that mushy mess right in the center of my pita before I could even protest. So it had THAT going for it... Bad. Really, really bad. read more

The food here is good, the owner is terrible! I had gone in around a year ago, I don't get in often because it is far from me, I ordered a Falafel without anything on it other than hummus. When I got to the movie theater and went to eat my Falafel it had everything on it, I couldn't eat it at all but it was too late to go back and get a new one so I called the next day and the manager told me that she would put my name down and that I could come in and get a free one whenever I was in the area. I went back in and the owner was there; I explained the situation and he flat out told me that if I didn't know the managers name he wouldn't know if I was telling the truth. I told him that I could easily afford to pay for the Falafel, and asked if he thought I was lying... to which he said yes. I cannot believe how I was treated by the man who told me flat out that he was the owner. I will never return to this location, I would never support the business of someone who thinks it is ok to treat customers that way. *I should add that we were also buying 2 other Falafel at the same time, so it isn't like I walked in and asked for something free without buying something.* read more

Cause I love Gyros, and I love falafels... Seriously, this place is such a great alternative for fast food. Yes, the servings are humongo, but the great thing about chicks like me is we're cheap, and 2 servings is always better than one. I'm thinking lunch and dinner. The last visit was so great b/c it was the 4th(of July) and nothing else was open. So, the parking lot was empty and I could actually choose a table, I didn't have to sit in the half seats at the window facing the street as if I really wanted to watch people drive up and down Colorado Blvd. My falafel and Tabouli were so fresh and so good. Oh, and Izze sparkling juice....I was in heaven I tell you. (Easy to please too). Even though it has a slow feel like the east coast islands, it's still fast enough to get you through lunch rush. Not a good expereience. We originally were going to the Mexican place next door but after seeing it was closed we decided to try Falafel King. Most of the dishes are about $8.99. Its a little pricey compared to other places like this. (Garbanzos) I ordered the Gyro plate which came with salad on the side. The salad was not fresh looking and very iceberg. Put some green lettuce on the plate! The most annoying part about the whole experience is that they weigh your food prior to cooking it. The lady took the gyro out of a silver tin and put it on a scale and from the scale she put it on the grill. Realizing that it weighed a little much she took it off the grill and back into the silver tin. REALLY?? If youre gonna weigh food on the line, dont do it where the customers can see you! Grim experience. The owner here is not friendly. Bite sized yahoodi falafel, very small serving of gyro meat for $9. I didn't feel welcomed when my friends and I spoke a few words in Arabic, the atmosphere behind the counter became very dark. I wouldn't come back here again. read more

I have only had the hummus from this joint with their pita bread and must say it was pretty good. Couple of things that bother me: Employees always seem to not know what they are doing. I love falafel, I really do. But this place was a disappointment today. I went there with The Boy - I got the falafel plate and he had a shwarma pita. Both were less than good. My main complaints were; The salad is precut - tomatoes, cukes, lettuce, and sits there all day, so it's all kindof flavorless and mushy. Plus, it seemed as though someone had squirted a lemon, on top of dressing it, so it was weirdly acidic and sour. Too sour to be good. The hummus side had the same problem. Too much lemon. I know you put lemon in hummus but it was actually SOUR - so sour you couldn't taste the nuttiness off the garbanzos or the tahini. I couldn't finish it! My other complaint was - Skimpy on the protein, much? Come on now, everything they serve there has very inexpensive base ingredients. They would do well to give you a little more meat and/or falafel. Especially if you can't eat the sides because they are too sour!! On the plus side, the people were nice and the pita was fresh. But, all in all, I left longing for Damascus and unsatisfied with Falafel King. read more

2 1/2 stars?!?!?!?! Say it ain't so! I do not think this is the most amazing restaurant I've ever been too, especially since it lacks so much in ambience, but their falafel rocks the house!!! I am a falafel lover, and I think that most falafel is made into patties that are too big and therefore end up too dry. This awful luck with falafel also includes my own attempts at making it at home, but that's all we'll mention of that... I love Falafel King's falafel. You know they have to be good at it if it's their namesake! They make tiny little falafel balls which are like biting into a small nugget of heaven, and then coat them in a yummy yogurt sauce and, if you want it, stick them in their creamy hummus. About their hummus - my favorite hummus used to be Sinbad's, and since that restaurant closed I have been looking for a replacement. Jerusalem's hummus just doesn't cut it. Neither does Ya Hala's or Damascus's. Sad to say, I like Falafel King's better. Prices are okay. Parking is stupid. Ambience is zero. But I go for the hummus and falafel, not the beautiful people or fancy china, so it's all okay with me. read more

I'm new to Denver, so I don't know if there was a change in ownership or what, but my trip to Falafel King was great. I got the falafel pita, and everything about it was dank. The pita bread was soft, the falafel was fresh, and the price was right ($5.25 I think). The employees were friendly and helpful, answering my millions of questions without getting annoyed. I'd go back for sure, but after reading these reviews I'm worried that I just got lucky. read more

Just so you are aware this place will use food past its expiration date. They are supposed to keep the gyro meat for around 4 hours and log the time. They do not follow health code and will in fact fudge the little white board. If they even do that much. The workers here are incredibly lazy. I once saw the old white lady who works here drop a set of tongs onto the floor and then dunk them into the falafel fryer, then use same tongs to get the gyro meat... The owner is a bad person as well he holds checks hostage from workers and will tell them to sue him as he hangs up hiding behind his telephone. I'm just moved here from AZ where Pita Jungle is that güd güd so I was presssed to find some decent falafel one time I drove past this place and saw the Yelp Reviews and decided to give it a try. it's fast food falafel. I love that any "platter" you get (whether it's the gyro, the falafel, or the schwarma platter) you have a choice of two "salads"...greek salad, taboulee, hummus, etc! I was pleasantly surprised by this place in terms of quality of food and price of this Boulder-based restaurant. I ordered the plain gyro which came out to be around $6 and was a PERFECT portion to fill me up without being overwhelming (READ: carb/grease crash). I must say it contained the BEST tzatziki sauce that I have ever had... nice and tangy! It also came with a pleasant hot sauce inside, and as a New Mexican, "spicy sauce" is practically another food group. I am going to order the sampler plate next time I go in order to try the sides/falafels they have to offer. It was only $2 more and my friend ordered it and it offers a lot more food (did I mention I'm a starving student and love getting the most bang for my buck?) This is four star when you consider what this is - a Fast Food 'mediterrean' joint on Colorado. During a recent trip, we ordered a falafel pita, a lamb gyro pita, and a side of hummus and grape leaves. I came here a few weeks ago to get a side of falafel for $3-- great deal and the falafel tasted great. Therefore, I returned 2 days ago to get an actual meal at Falafel King. I got the gyros plate (gyro meat, salad, 6 falafel, and a pita). I got all the toppings on my salad and chose a wheat pita. Overall, the flavors of everything were good (notably the salad and falafel). The gyro meat was a bit dry and they also gave me the smallest portion. I would hope for a $7.99 GYROS plate that they would give you more gyro meat, but there was a lot more salad. Should have been called a salad plate. The pita was just okay. Service was good. The guys working at the counter were friendly and I got my food rather quickly. I took it to go. All in all, good for a fast and cheap meal, but I wouldn't say this is my go to gyro spot. We couldnt decide between Thai or Indian, so we went mediterrean. We both had the falafel ball combo, which comes with 2 salad options, and 1 meat option. So it was a small salad with your meat on it, and your 2 sides, some falafel balls, pita and sauces. Their salad choices vary widely- hummus, grape leaves, tabouli, etc. It was hard to narrow it down to 2. We both chose tabouli and red pepper hummus. I had lamb gyro meat, and my partner had chicken. AMAZING is all I can say. Hearty and filling, yet light and refreshing. The meat was tasty and moist. I wanted more hummus and more hummus. It was creamy and slightly spicy due to the red pepper. The place is hard to get to is my only down fall. The interior is also small and quirky. Semi expensive but well worth it. read more

Love this place. We live a block away and come here frequently. Tried to stop in the other night to pick up dinner and was very comfortable with the sign on the door that said they were taking extra COVID precautions and everyone that entered was required to wear a mask. Both employees working were wearing gloves and masks. However, the customer in front of us was not wear a mask nor was he asked to put one on. If you are going to have signs requiring masks then please follow them. No one enforced this nor asked him to leave. We were uncomfortable and left to pick up dinner elsewhere. read more

I FINALLY FOUND AN AWESOME MEDITERRANEAN RESTAURANT!!! I had the grilled chicken platter-for $10.99 you get salad w/tasty grilled chicken, and two sides. I chose the falafel balls (absolutely AMAZING-you get 6) and the hummus (sooooo DELISH). You also get a choice of pita-which is served warm. The tzatziki sauce is FANTASTIC! I didn't think this place was all that bad for what it is. I mean it is fast-food Greekish right? My falafel balls were yummy (that wasn't meant to sound dirty) and my Gryo plate was decent too, I love their roasted red pepper hummus and tzasiki sauce. And their pitas taste really fresh too. There is no ambiance to speak of because the place is way too bright and not very comfy feeling. But overall our food was cheap, delicious, and the staff was very friendly. I like this joint. In an area that has a number of ethnic dining options, it's casual, fast and you get a lot of food for the money. The atmosphere is pretty generic, as you'd expect from a fast-casual place. Is the food the best out there? No. Is it bad? By all means, no - it's quite good in fact. (more mint lemonade please!)
