According to the VERY nice, yet very stressed tasting room manager, the wine maker (the manager would NOT provide the winemaker's name) would ONLY let us taste five wines that were NOT ones we wanted to purchase. He claimed that he just lost his grandmother, who lived with him. I didn't believe a word he said! I think he was using that tactic to get me to back off. He told me that I was putting him under stress and he was doing only doing what he was told to do. I would be happy to talk with the winemaker and I hope I can discover the person who directed him to not provide good customer service. This winemaker who has such strict rules cost this winery to lose business! So sad. read more

This Fall Creek Vineyards IS a GREAT place to go and relax with a friendly atmosphere, unlike the one in Driftwood, the manager in Driftwood - Amy is so unfriendly ... don't get me wrong, it's a BEAUTIFUL place but what makes it so ugly is the staff. My husband & I visited this Saturday and had such a great & amazing time!! James, their manager is so welcoming, friendly, attentive, and just an AMAZING person, as well as Rick ... y'all are AWESOME!! I first discovered Fall Creek wine at the Circle C HEB thanks to Bill who runs the winery. He was offering samples that day and invited me to visit his winery. Fall Creek Vineyards is a small but cute winery in Tow, Texas NW of Marble Falls. The address listed is there corporate headquarters. I called ahead and asked if I could bring my dog he said OK outside but not inside. Their Reserve Cabernet which is 85% Cab and 15% Merlot is my favorite Texas wine and very reasonably priced at 9.99 and their Mission Cab is also very good with a portion of the sales going to the restoration of The Alamo. I am not a huge fan of sweet wine but I loved their Muscat! read more

I always love it here. My family lives in the area and every time I come here (a couple times a year) everyone is so nice. It's a very relaxed environment and they can adjust the tasting for you depending on what your preferences are. No one makes you feel like an inconvenience if you can't have reds like myself. Everyone always has a smile. The wine - I always go for the moscato, Dotson, & sweet red when it comes time to buy. I recommend bringing a lunch so that after your tasting you can open a bottle and have a nice lunch on the patio and enjoy a beautiful view. Also - bring a couple bucks and spring for the Chenin Blanc mustard they make. Delish! read more

Let's make Mother's Day great again! This place was a "disaster" as Trump would say, and we didn't even visit the location. I called a week ago today to make reservations for "Mother's Day brunch." The guy told me I needed to sign up online to get a reservation. So I signed up for the Fall Creek website in order to make a reservation for the "Mother's Day brunch." When I signed up and put my credit card information for the Mother's Day brunch I did not even get a confirmation email from Fall Creek, so this past Wednesday I called to confirm I had a reservation and still then no one told me that the date the Mother's Day brunch was going to be on Saturday instead of Sunday. I think the IT person should be fired for bad software not providing confirmation emails to customers. The bottom line is, The brunch should been called "The Day Before Mother's Day brunch" because it was held on Saturday, 12 May instead of Sunday, 13 May. The marketing person should also be fired for bad marketing techniques. So the event post on the website stated mother's Day brunch on 12 May, But it probably should've said Saturday 12 May (the day before Mother's Day) in big bold letters that way customers don't inadvertently make the same mistake I did. So yesterday at about 1230 a lady from Fall Creek called me and asked if I'm going to show up. I said "this brunch was today not on Mother's Day?? And asked why was it called Mother's Day brunch. The lady said it was in bold letters on the website that it was on 12 May; which it was not, but at least they should've put "Saturday, 12 May" instead of just "12 May" on the event page. I asked for a refund but she said they had to pay the caterers but said that she would give me two free wine tastings. Really? Wine tastings are about $10 at least. So I am out $84 this is Mother's Day and nothing to show for it. I won't make any more assumptions about this place. Save yourself the drive and go to a much nicer place like the Vineyard at Florence, where they don't do false advertising; as they actually do a Mother's Day brunch on Sunday, Mother's Day as that's where we really wanted to go but they were already booked out far in advance. So I will celebrate a belated Mother's Day with my wife and children next week at The Vineyard at Florence. If this rating system on Yelp allowed me to give half a star I would probably give Fall creek half a star. Sincerely a very very disappointed customer. read more

My husband and I decided to try out this winery before heading home on the Sunday of our weekend Hill Country get away. We arrived slightly before it opened (5 min) and found it odd the gates were locked. But it wasnt time for it to open so we waited. 20 min goes by, then 30 and nothing. A couple other cars were now waiting to get in too. One of the cars had called the tasting room in Marble Falls and said they were sending someone to open up. Apparently someone didn't show up. We finally get in and we do a tasting. The wine was good but I was underwhelmed with their tasting room and the entire experience. It was a 70 degree day in November and it was dead there. We had been to a couple other wineries the day before and they were so crowded so this surprised me. All in all, I likely wouldn't return here. The drive to get here is long, the service was poor, and the experience didn't live up to other wineries in the area. The grounds, however were beautiful! read more

This was our third stop. Texas Hill Country Wine Passport #7 Tasting: $5 for about 6 wines, and you get to keep the Fall Creek glass. Tasting Staff: friendly, knowledgeable Facilities: Very large vineyard, very large tasting room and patio outside. Nice restrooms. They sell lots of cutesy wine crap, but also some locally produced foods, and many many award medals and articles, even a thank you letter from Karl Rove (look out!). Wine Dog: dachsund, we didn't catch his name. We had a nice time at this winery, it was the third stop in a day, and it was after McReynolds, so we were getting a little tired. We were the only ones there on a Thursday afternoon and had a nice walk around the vineyard. They were bottling wine, so unfortunately they couldn't give us a tour (a health dept. violation, evidently, to let people watch you bottle). The woman who did our tasting was very friendly. They do get some of their grapes from California (such as the Perfect 10's), so be sure to ask if you're a locavore. We opted for the Texas wines and purchased the 2005 Cache' and the 2007 Chenin Blanc (which you can easily find in Austin stores from around $6) and a Twin Springs (a label owned by Fall Creek) Sweet Red, which we plan to make into Sangria read more

This place gets two stars ONLY because the wine is good and cheap and the place is pretty. I came here with a party for the Mother's Day lunch. Mind you, I live in Houston and have wanted to visit a hill country Texas vineyard for sometime, and was already fond of Fall Creek wines (bought them HEB in the past). I was very excited about this experience despite the 5 hour drive. Pulled up and it wad beautiful, and we were promptly checked in. It all went downhill from there. First, when we registered for this lunch and paid over $100 the description on the website said we would enjoy lunch on their patio overlooking the vineyard. Instead, the two or three parties of wine tasters occupied this space with ample tables and we were all (several parties) placed in a sort of cellar with wine barrels which qas eerie and cold with no windows (on this gorgeous May day). That was irritating, but I digress. Next was the food. The salad was lukewarm when it arrived, and the salmon was like it had been thawed and served at room temperature. I will admit the dessert was good. Our wine glasses were NOT refilled for the pairings as our food was served and instead was served after we had almost finished that particular course (one time one of the servers even said "oops forgot your wine haha", I guess trying to be playful but we weren't amused. Lastly, after the meal we decided to buy a case of wine because indeed the wine was good, especially the merlot and especially for the price. That's an additional $130. There were two lines formed, so we stepped into one. The group in front of us were apparently doing a tasting and never were asked to step aside for other customers to be helped. Just continued asking questions and giggling amongst themselves while the line grew behind us. No one ever said "can we form one line" or "we will be right with you". We were blatantly ignored for a solid 20 minutes. Then, a group of wine tasting girls for a bachelorette party (about 1p girls) stepped into the other line with their wine glasses ready. Not only were every single one of them was helped, and a few behind them. Then, we were given a hold on a minute finger. My conversation with the cashier proceeds as follows: "You have all been so patient. What can I get you?" Me, playfully but a hint of agitation, "you guys must not want our money very much haha" "No we do we're just short a person today" "Well, that's fine, but there were two distinct lines and every one of those girls were helped before us despite coming in after us" "Well they're here for a bachelorette party and wine tasting" "Well we just did the Mother's Day lunch and spent over $100 and would like to hopefully buy some wine if we ever get to" Ignoring me, turning to my friend's mother, "so a case with these wines. Is that correct?" I walked outside to keep my cool. I wanted to like this place and was so excited about it, but it was the most disappointing trip for both me and my mom (this trip was for her, anyway). It was absolutely terrible and I will never be back, and may never even buy their wine again. There are other Texas vineyards. read more

We live about two miles away from this vineyard so we go here all the time. The wines are great and the people are very friendly. The tours are always a big hit when we bring out of town guests. One of the best parts that may not be well advertised is the use of their beautiful courtyard area. We will often bring a picnic, buy some wine and sit out in the courtyard to socialize with friends and guests. It is very relaxing in at a wonderful venue. There is not a charge, they just ask you buy and serve their wines while eating. read more

We took a lovely hill country drive out to the fall Creek Vineyards in Tow today and it was such a treat. Having dealt with James and Lesa on the phone for previous orders, it was great to meet them and they couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. The property is beautiful and the wine tasting area is so relaxed and charming. They have a great selection of gifts in the shop and the overall ambience is really inviting. James is a hoot and so committed to insuring that your visit is excellent. We have long lived several of their great wines and will now make it a regular stop at both the Tow and Driftwood locations. I went with friends to the winery for an event where we got to taste and have lunch prepared from San Antonio area chef's. The drive is a bit long (I fell asleep in the car). The winery itself is relatively small, but cute. You have the chance to stomp grapes (which I passed on because feet-infused wine seems wrong) and a very cute older gentleman takes you on a tour of the winery. "Tour" is a bit of an overstatement, as I believe he walked us through 3 rooms, but he is entertaining so it was worth it. I fell in love with their Ed's Smooth Red and was happy to find it at Spec's for $8. Their food was so-so, but they ended up giving us some for free when we got caught in torrential rain storm. The event was really fun. I'm not sure I'd go back without the whole organized event/lunch, but it is certainly worth visiting. read more

Fall Creek vineyards in Tow might be the best winery experience in Texas, and five yelp stars does not do justice to the great time we had last weekend! My friends and I (3 couples and one toddler) dropped in on Saturday afternoon during our hill country weekend getaway. The staff were warm and welcoming. We were given a short tour of the facility - luckily it was a day when grapes were being delivered so we could see some wine making in action. Then of course we did a tasting, the highlight of the tour. It was great to learn about the different wines from the knowledgeable team. Pours were generous and the wines were great. Fall Creek make a lot of different wines, so they're really something is for all tastes, from very sweet blushes to woody, rich reds. read more

Love this winery! We set out a little late getting here and didn't arrive til 4:45 on a Saturday. They close at 5pm so I thought they wouldn't be happy to see us. Quite the opposite. They were really friendly & we had a great tasting with a couple of different ladies. I am used to California wineries, but this place was a treat and the wine is very affordable. They even given you a dessert wine to taste while holding a jalapeno jelly bean in your mouth. You know you are in Texas when that happens. My wife and I brought two friends here and we both had Travelzoo vouchers. It was easy to redeem our voucher and the voucher itself was a great deal. We didn't have to stand in line but as soon as our tasting was done the place got PACKED at around noon. We had to wait in line to get our bottle that was included in the voucher. Our voucher got a tasting for two, a cheese platter for both of us, and a bottle of wine to take home. Unfortunately, the server knew nothing about wine and she kept rinsing our glasses out with water between tastings, which is definitely a no-no if you're into wine (dilutes the wine). She wasn't very friendly, but it did seem like the other staff members were. Another drawback if you know your wine is that Texas wine in general is just not that good. Fall Creek Vineyards was no exception. The wines here were just awful. I think the worst one we tried was the Rose. All 4 of us looked at each other with weird faces. The Sauv Blanc was the most tolerable white and the most tolerable red was probably Merlot, but overall they just weren't good. I think our friend even got a headache from the wine. But, everyone here is nice, and the premise is pretty. They let you picnic on site, and they also allow you to bring your own food. The drive out here from Austin is spectacular, gotta love the scenic hill country. It's about 1 hour & 30-45 mins from Austin total. While we do feel our Travelzoo voucher was a good value, I highly doubt we'd return. You must pet the friendly and cute winery kitty. He/she is very relaxed and loves to be pet. read more

My husband and I used their online shopping to buy some wine for a friend. We put in our order on 5/5/13 and never heard back from them, online it said that our order has been received. I sent them an email to ask the status on our wine order and why it hasn't been shipped on 5/9/13 and never got a response back! My husband finally called them on 5/14/13 asking what our status is and they said that they could not find our order! We asked them to then cancel our order and surprise to us they were able to find our order to cancel it. It made no sense at all... As if the wines weren't good enough, make sure you stop in for a tasting when James is behind the bar. This is my 2nd visit to this Vineyard, this time was much better because I got there early this time so that we could walk around a bit and take in all the beautiful Central Texas scenery that this Vineyard is located on. We did the wine tasting and it rocked, my lady chose a bottle of Chardonnay that in my opinion is much better than the Australian ones and better than any other Chardonnay produced in Texas. The ladies that guided us through the wine tasting were very very down to earth country laides and that alone was quite appealling. This winery is producing some of the top wines in Texas and Texas is becoming known now for its wine, this winery was founded in 1979 and one of the oldest in our grande state, their wine should be more expensive but its very affordable, I loved this place as did my beautiful lady. If you plan your route so that you travel up highway 16 from Llano you'll see some truly beautiful central texas hill country and you can drive at a nice slow leisurely rate with no traffic. read more
