This diner/restaurant is just another in my "5 starz on the first visit" shops. On our way up to Albany for a Kiwanis (Circle K) conference. We leave Long Island early so we usually look for a breakfast spot on the way up. We checked Yelp (what else would we check) and found this hidden gem of a diner. It was aprrox. 10 minutes off the Taconic Pky. and worth every minute to have breakfast here. It's located in a small strip mall so it was a very easy in and out off the main road. Parking early in the morning is never usually problem. Out of the car and made our way into this very cozy-warm-comfortable-non-flashy setting. We also received wonderful hellos and good mornings from all of the staff and customers sitting too. We really enjoyed the place. Cozy, friendly and not glitzy. I ordered the French Toast and my wife the vegetable omelette. Without a doubt, one of the best breakfasts ever. Delicious french toast that tasted special. Well cooked and plentiful. Great link sausages that did not taste like supermarket blend. My wife's omelette was tasty-fresh and loaded with veggies. This shop is a home run. I truly do not understand any of the reviews below five stars. Just nonsense. One complaint was that they did not refill their coffee mug. REALLY??? We were a party of 5 colleagues looking to grab lunch on a work day. We found this place by accident and decided to try it. It is a very old school diner with dated furniture and decor. The dining room was dim and gloomy on a sunny May afternoon. We asked to be seated by the window, which helped. The food was decent, not great, but okay. I had a chicken panini which was delicious. I did expect a different bread, I got a regular sliced bread instead of a roll. My colleagues had burgers. They said they were juicy but a bit overcooked. Everyone raved about their Cole slaw. I am not sure I would be back. The atmosphere was not up to my expectations. read more

It's OK food not bad but not blowing my socks off either so unfortunately I can't get four stars because it's just really plain. Like the eggs Benedict I had was just plain eggs Benedict even the Canadian bacon didn't have any pizzazz. My fiancé said the corn beef and hash is OK definitely had better. How to lose customers: serve pretty decent food, but have terrible customer service. My husband & I came in for breakfast, and our only complaint had been that they didn't refill the coffee mugs (as most diners do? Isn't that a thing?). An item had been left off the bill by the waitress by accident, I didn't take notice of it & went to pay. Lady @ the register realized the mistake as she was handing me my change - then took the change back and explained that they needed to adjust the bill. To include the side order that had been accidentally omitted. For a total of ~$3 extra dollars. Since we dine out often and at many different kinds of establishments, we know mistakes are made both by the restaurant and the customer. But at that point, wouldn't you just say "the homefries are on the house??" Needless to say, this was not about the money, but about how the situation was handled. We were in complete shock. Good customer service goes a very long way.. even restaurants that serve mediocre food can get us to return if they have courteous service & care about you being there. This diner was a wonderful experience. We checked Yelp for the best place to get breakfast around where we were visiting family and this place rated 5 stars...we also gave it 5 stars! The food tasted good, was plentiful and came out fast and hot. Our orders were 99% perfect and our server was fast and attentive with helping us. We loved the home fries (a serving of which was a full plate's worth -- you should plan on sharing it), homemade sausage links (inch and a half diameter by five inches long and VERY tasty), corned beef hash, thick cut bacon, pancakes, etc. Coffee was super good. My only (minor) complaint is that I asked for over hard eggs and they gave me over soft...not a big issue, because I scooped the eggs onto my husband' plate. He likes runny yolks. I don't think that is worth taking a star off, in my opinion. The owner was friendly and came over and talked to us...our waitress was friendly and helpful and kept our drinks full. If we are in the area again, we'll be sure to visit...I wish that there was a place as good as this where we live. Wow it was soooo good. read more

I've had one of their lunch platters (don't remember what) and a pancake and sausage platter (more $$ than I wanted to spend but I REALLY wanted pancakes and the prices are consistent with other area delis and diners. Today's budget incursion is my own fault; I added coffee and a blueberry muffin to my damage report. You can debate if I am cheap or frugal (BLT=$4.95, Coffee $1.95, muffin $2). Staff is patient when I'm sleep deprived and don't know what I want. The coffee is strong and the muffins are good. A solid choice if you like homestyle cooking. read more

My husband and I stopped in for a quick breakfast, what a huge mistake! Our waitress seemed to have an attitude and was huffing and puffing. I noticed a waitress taking her mask off and coughing as she walked past a patron eating outdoors! I ordered a southern biscuits and gravy breakfast, horrendous! The biscuits tasted stale and microwaved while the gravy tasted like a watery flour paste. My husband's bacon egg and cheese on a bagel was tasteless and rubbery. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere - I love this place! Really awesome diner that is in the old spot where Calabria's was many moons ago (and many pizza places since). My favorite meal here is by far the corned beef hash and eggs wrap. Absolutely delicious - my favorite way to eat CBH now (and trust me, I was a purist who only would eat it with poached eggs prior). The staff is friendly and attentive, and did I mention the awesome kid's playroom in the back? It's nice to be able to dine while my daughter plays in the playroom right next to us. There is great comfort in the availability of a standard diner. It's not an all-night joint, not a highway road stop, not a classic diner. It's also not a greasy spoon, not a Kerouackian beat bar or cafeteria. Tired of hip? Think character is overrated? This is your standard country diner for Wappingers. Regular food at regular prices for regular folks. The fried potatoes were forgettable, the side of corned beef hash strangely bland, but the coffee was good and my spinach, feta, and tomato omelet delicious. The space is large, bright, and comfortable. What I enjoyed most about it was driving away from US-9 to get here, plus it's five minutes from home. read more

This was my first time eating in this restaurant and it will certainly be my last. Our service was great - our waitress had a lot going on but always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was alright at best, nothing special. The real problem I have with this establishment is the owner and/or manager. She was EXTREMELY unpleasant. We became very uncomfortable when we were able to overhear her telling another customer they were rude because they did not want to switch to another table after they had already been sat and had drinks . We then witnessed her continuously disrespect our waitress (who was very sweet!) by making rude comments about her with another employee. How unprofessional! I have no desire to give my money to people that treat not only their staff, but customers like dirt. Plenty of other diners in the area to chose over this one. read more

Had breakfast here on a Sunday morning . Got there at 10:00 was seated at 10:15 wasn't served our breakfast until 11:05, pretty bad service, could think of better ways to spend my Sunday morning. Today my daughter & I decided to go for lunch, needless to say, we made the worst mistake ever. First sign should have been that the place was empty at lunch time. Our food was awful!!! I had a Ruben Panini, and my daughter had a roast beef wrap. Both our dishes was served with cold slaw & pickle, we both order sweet potato fries (extra $3.00) my sandwich was soggy, oily and no taste, no wait it tasted like it was almost handled with dirty hands. Almost threw up. My daughter could not even eat hers either, she said it was very bland and greasy.and the smell of the wrap was very odd. The fries tasted like they were reheated. The other issue that I had, was that the waitress did not come over once after she served our food to see if we needed anything, which I thought was odd since we were the only customers in the place. NEVER, and I repeat NEVER will I ever return to this Diner. It was AWFUL!!! It will never last! read more
