Great local spot off the beaten path. I had the Soulcrate Burger and was blown away by the flavor. On top of the great food, I had excellent service. The folks behind the counter were very friendly, and the proprietor himself checked up on my group to see how everything was. I was even given a free dessert! Although I am a native of Sioux Falls and have been to this cafe many times, I was just disappointed today when I tried to use the restroom there. I have IBS and was in desperate need of a restroom, but two snotty women informed me that there was a private party and I could not use the restroom I would have to go across the park to the public restrooms. I told them I hoped I could make it (I didn't) and their response was "this is a private building and you need to leave. So disappointing. My parents, my husband and I, and our two young nieces visited on the afternoon of July 9th prior to spending a couple of hours at the falls. We thought this would be a nice treat...we were wrong. The first thing we noticed when entering the building was the smell. Not sure if it was old mop water or something else, but it just wasn't pleasant. Menus are on the table or on the wall behind the register, but we found seats first so we could have a few minutes to look over our options. My four-year-old niece really wanted peanut butter toast. The cafe serves grilled cheese...the cafe serves PB&J on bread...but by asking for my niece's bread to be toasted, you'd think we were asking for someone to deliver our food on a unicycle. The cashier looked completely shocked that we wanted to stray from the menu, but went to ask the cook anyway. She quickly came back with 'No. He doesn't want to do that.' We asked if he could just put bread in the same panini press that they were making grilled cheese in, and she said that they couldn't risk impacting someone with peanut allergies (huh?). When we then explained that they wouldn't put the peanut butter in the panini press, just the bread (and then put the PB on the side...tricky, I know), she said she didn't want to get cheese on the bread (ummm). We tried to explain one more time, but she fell back on "well he doesn't want to do that." Sure enough, we were served peanut butter on un-toasted bread. Pretty much, we needed a grilled cheese, hold the cheese, with a side of PB. Rocket science here, folks... Rest of the food was average at best, and was very pricey for what you get. Kettle chips had certainly been left open for too long, as they were soggy. Service was slow, although it was busy there, so I can understand that. Toast doesn't seem like the end of the world, I know, but it's the little things that make people want to come back for more, and this place missed the mark on almost every level. read more

You might as well go ahead and close your doors, went today to get a final meal for my birthday prior to your re-location and there's a sign stating that "we will be closed every Saturday in September for parties". Lets hope you don't do this sort of nonsense after you relocate you won't be open very long, we do enjoy the food here but don't foresee making plans again for a special trip because you were closed during every other business regular business hours. Seriously... do not eat here! I have been there twice and both times were bad since they re-opened in May with new management again. I would recommend packing a sandwich or picking up drive-thru food elsewhere if you want to enjoy lunch in the park. I love sitting & eating at the picnic tables and looking over the river, but don't subject yourself to either the food or the service. Today our family (2 boys ages 3 & 4) and my husband and myself ordered lunch consisting of the kids PBJ sandwich, kids hot dog, Ultimate dog for husband, and grilled cheese with fruit for me and an order of sweet potatoe fries. It was over 45 mins to get the food, it came cold and greasy, and was over $32.00 for the meal! I'm glad I made the boys share a beverage & I didn't order one. Be aware... the reivew from 2012 are under different management than the place has now in 2013. I can't believe that the city has this operating in the "crown jewel" of Sioux Falls. read more

Quite a large cafe for a park location! Love their slushies are made with pear juice instead of sugar! Very light, very refreshing! Great view of the falls from the patio! Also served salads, sandwiches, wine and ice cream! Debit accepted if check is over $10. Dirty fries are a must covered in paprika, salt, pepper and garlic, just delish! Worth stopping in and enjoying the falls from this view point. read more

I had to give them 1 star so I could leave a review...they didn't deserve that! I don't know how the food was because we never got it! Paid for a sandwich & salad & drinks, they should've told us it was going to be a 30+ minute wait before they took our money! You know some of us are on a schedule too! After 20 minutes went in to see if they couldn't find us or they missed us? Only to have a rude server tell me that they had one cook & she'd get to us whenever. The table next to us also came in because of the same thing! We waited another 10 minutes & gave the other table our number, just in case it would come before theirs...and left hungry! DO NOT GO THERE. Yesterday at around 5pm on Thursday September 25th, 2014; my wife and I went for a walk to beautiful Falls Park. We stopped by Falls Overlook Cafe because my wife who is 8 months pregnant needed to use the restroom. Falls Overlook Cafe was the closest to us and seeing tour buses patrons going there, we decided to go in so that my wife can use the restroom. A waitress in her mid 40-50s stopped us as my wife was going towards the lady's restroom and told us we weren't allow to use it because the facility was reserved for a party that night. We explained to her that it was an emergency for her to use the restroom; but in a very rude and unprofessional manner, she told us that she "didn't care whether she was pregnant or not". As we stepped outside the facility, my wife was in tears and her bladder was hurting as we walked towards the Visitor Center. Needless to say that we are never going back to Falls Park Overlook Cafe. This facility doesn't have any ethical manner in accommodating to a pregnant person and I would strongly discourage anyone to go or eat there. read more

Just wanna say whoever y'all had working the counter today, incredibly rude. She was an older lady who's name I didn't catch, but she was incredibly rude taking our order when my cousin had questions about the menu and the best part - when my grandma went up to ask for a small paper cup so we could take ice and water to go for our 1 year olds sippy cup (we forgot in the car) she said nope you can have a bunch plastic glass (the kind you're not supposed to take from the resturaunt) and refused to give her a paper cup..... for water and ice..... for our one year old.... alright lady, I just wanted you to know I just took the plastic glass instead. It's mine now. Don't be so gosh dang rude, cause I bet that paper cup cost you less than $.25. Oh, and when I messaged the cafe to talk about this, whoever was responding lied about the situation! Said the kid told my grandma cup would cost a quarter, which he did not do he was going to give her the cup before this lady snatched it out of his hand! Take this review for what it is, I did not attend, but my wife did. She rented out the venue for a 20 person Baby Shower and was told no outside food would be allowed, so the cafe catered the event. Wife says the food was fine, but pricey for what it was. They paid for 20 people, and even though only ten people showed up, they barely had enough of the palatable fruit tray to go around. There was a spinach and artichoke dip that she liked, but other attendees weren't impressed. The Choc cake was okay, but sloppy, and unprofessionally decorated. After the event they tried to procure food boxes for the left over dip, and cake .. the cafe proprietor Rhonda Milstead asked/told them "Don't you have some cardboard, or something to put it on? Well, we don't do that, but I can give you a couple boxes anyway". Two boxes for ten people, how generous for the people who just rented your location. When they tried to take some dip she told them they weren't allowed because "...food safety laws don't allow it in case you don't refrigerate it correctly, and get sick." .. which as you all probably know is bunk. More like they wanted to add it back in their stock. Ick. Would not recommend. read more

We stopped here and had a delightful easy lunch. It isn't a place you'd just arrive at since you drive through nearly abandoned stock yards on the way there. It is a beautiful place to get out and stretch your legs and view the falls. The cafe had a very fun menu with unique yet healthy options. I had avocado toast and home made chx wild rice soup and the hubs had beef brisket on a sweet potato. Kids had chx fingers. It was fast, super friendly, healthy and reasonable. Worst part of my wedding! While the food is great the management has much to improve! I can't express the stress and frustration I felt the night before my wedding and the day of! (Something that I was trying to avoid!) My husband and I are generally easy going people and don't get worked up over little things but these were not little things! Things that we set up with the owner all fell through at the last moment because he left someone else at the cafe to take care of things and when we called him he repeatedly, my phone calls were ignored. I was up till 3am the night before my wedding fixing problems and figuring things out! The owner finally got ahold of us the next morning and apologized but it was still a mess. When he talked to me about the person he left in charge the night before and the guy didn't show, he said he had taken him off regular duty because he wasn't sure he could trust him but he thought he could do this. That made me extremely disappointed! If he knew he wasn't trustworthy why put him in charge something that was very important? That just shows bad management! My fiance had to go there that morning and frantically set up all our decorations! It got done with the help of the groomsmen but some things had to be left out all together cause there wasn't enough time. When my mom showed up that morning to help set up and the owner avoided her, very unprofessional! The food was served on paper plates and paper cups which was not expected at all! When we talked to him in the beginning we were told that we would have real plates and glasses! Not quite the classy event I was going for! And then on top of it all, the bill was not what I expected! I just can't believe how much we paid for such an awful effort on their part!
