I am a contractor with fifty + years of experience dealing with many, many contractors, trades men, apprentice helpers etc. I was able to know very soon after meeting these individuals, their experience, knowledge of their trade, their honesty, reliability and integrity and whether or not they had pride in their workmanship and not so concerned with completing the task at hand as fast as they could to get on to the next job. It is with this knowledge I possess that It became apparent within fifteen minutes of meeting the crew chief of Family Air of Simi Valley, Curtis that he and Family Air was the right HVAC crew and contractor to replace my aging HVAC system in my house. He proposed a modification to my system that would allow the new system to circulate air in a far more efficient and effective manner that none of the other HVAC contractors I interviewed had thought of. The crew of four arrived and left each day when they said they would. Completed the installation exactly as proposed for the amount estimated with no damage or mess in or around my house. I waited to write this review to be sure the new Carrier system installed was working as specified with no issues. Two months after the installation the system all of a sudden failed to run during a heat wave. Texted the owner of Family Air, Jerry Giarrussso with a request for service. Jerry replied to me within minutes to say that he was on a service call, but would be at my house soon. He arrived within two hours and corrected the minor issue that was only a loose circuit breaker not making full contact, at no charge. Family Air installed our system almost fifteen years ago. A main board fried and was replaced, no questions asked and I did not pay for the new part installed. I also bad a sensor go, which was difficult to trouble shoot. They brought in the big gun and it was fixed in a half an hour. Update: 9/2022 Family Air came out and replaced both my 30-year-old A/C & furnace and did it in seven hours! That may seem a long time, but these two guys worked non-stop (only stopping briefly for a lunch break) and did so without goofing off, chatting on the phone, or not knowing what they were doing. After leaving a message someone called me back within a few minutes and said a technician would be here within an hour to see what's going on with a couple of mini splits I have an a guesthouse. He came and fixed what prior technicians from other air-conditioning companies could not or would not fix after several visits over couple of years. Rather than say, "yep it's broken, needs to be replaced" he actually investigated, found what he believed was the problem, discussed with me my options and possibilities (good and bad) did what he could to fix it. He made no promises and said he might even be back depending on how things go over the next several days. In other words, he was honest and informative, leaving me with a sense of trust and confidence. Though it's barely been 24 hours, I'm pretty sure he fix the issue. It's freezing in here! And on top of all that, the bill was half of what I thought it would be and frankly, less than I paid other companies to come over and not fix it. My search is over.... and so is yours. read more

Family Air came from a recommendation from another AC repair person. I received 3 quotes for replacing my 30 year old heating and AC unit. They took 3 weeks to finally get me a quote because of COVID and they also did a second inspection to make sure my quote was accurate. Family Air's quote was competitive. I felt their prices was fair. My house is a 2 story house and was originally heating only. So when I had my first AC unit installed the return was downstairs on the bottom which made the AC ineffective because it was not cooling the hot air. Family Air installed a second return upstairs to cool the hot air. They also replaced my old ducting. Their team did a good job. Got the job done quickly and were clean. The crew was polite and nice. Had a warranty issue with rust appearing on the fan motor after having the unit for 3 years which was replaced under 10 year warranty. Now 3 years later the same issue is occurring but owner Jerry said it is my fault that my sprinklers are spraying on the unit causing rust (which is 100% false, sprinklers are not spraying on the unit). He said this based on a photo of the unit without even coming out to look at the issue or speaking to me about it. He further states that he is "not interested" in replacing my fan motor again under warranty since the issue is my fault. It's as if he is paying for the warranty replacement out of his pocket, yet I still paid over $200 labor to have the last motor replaced since labor is not covered under the warranty! Think twice before using this company, their idea of customer service is an absolute joke. read more

I needed to get AC for a Great Room with a roof structure that was not conducive to ducting off the main AC unit. When the temperature is above ~80 degrees this room the room was like an oven. Family Air did a great job with the quote and installation process. Everyone was a pleasure to work with: 1. On time for the quote and installation appointments. 2. Very competitive pricing. 3. I live in Porter Ranch & woke up to a cold house the Friday before Thanksgiving & called Family Air, Gerry was slammed & told me to call around & call him back if i had no luck. I called a local HVAC shop & they came out & quoted around $1500 to $2000 to install a new fan so I called Jerry back & he said Whattt. He sent Erak out on Sat (his day off). Everything about Family as reviewed here and on Nextdoor is accurate. To start, the availability to come out was fast (next day). The Fee to service this attic furnace and condenser was as competitive as anyone. What really showed me what they are worth was the integrity of the tech. Not only was he available earlier than scheduled but he upgraded the filter because the one that he was replacing wasn't in stock. He used one that was not only a filter for dirt but also odor and $20 more- no extra. I will be likely using Family Air when our rental's AC which is original goes out. My A/C system stopped cooling the house in early August. I called several places for a bid and had three come out. Two of the three I had to pay $120 and $100 just for them to come out and give me the bid. The three bids I got were completely out of my price range since I am 71 and a single woman on a fixed income. I spoke to the owner Jerry and he scheduled his service tech to come out the next day at no charge. Curtis was professional, thorough and explained what the issues were with my system. The next day the owner e-mailed me a proposal that knocked the wind out of me since it was so reasonable! I was shocked. Of course I accepted and the install appointment was scheduled for a week and a half later due to the demand of the massive heatwave we are in. Best AC Contractor experience with installing a complete AC System! I found Family Air through Yelp and decided to obtain a competing quote. Jerry visited, explained what would be done and gave the most professional quote package I've see from an AC contractor. And not only that... they beat all other quotes I received by a mile as per the experience of others. Despite the time it took for our HOA to approve the work, Jerry, Curtis and Team were patient. Once I got approval, they responded immediately with an installation date within the next couple of weeks. Curtis and team arrived promptly (even ahead of schedule) everyday and accomplished the work quickly, efficiently and with good care. The job at my residence was even more difficult due to a split attic, which made the duct work more complex than normal. On the previous system, the installers connected the low voltage wiring to the outside AC unit by routing conduit all around the house, which was unsightly. Per my request, Curtis and team were able to reroute the low voltage through the attic and even demolished the unsightly conduit around the house. They even removed old unsightly satellite cables running around the conduit. I also opted for HERS testing and a city permit.
