One star is generous. This company was assigned to us via home warranty. Our range hood was not working, this guy came out and was unprofessional. Spent less than 10 minutes. Reported to the company that there was no pop up button and that it could not be fixed. Had to go through countless home warranty calls to get a second opinion. The second company found the button (I had already known it was there, it was in plain sight) and was able to properly report the issue Overall I would say heed every other review and do not use this company, and if it is assigned to you by home warranty, be adamant about requesting a different company as it will save you some headaches. read more

Steve appliance was sent by my homeowners insurance for a claim regarding my built in microwave. The service person lied and told the insurance that I continued using my microwave and allowed food to get into the part that sparked. The glass plate cracked and is black and the bottom is black. I was skeptical at first due to all the negative reviews. I also like to give the benefit of the doubt. Their appointment center was professional. Appointment was booked without issue and they confirmed the appointment the day prior. Service technician arrived within said appointment range. He too was professional. He attempted to fix the fridge but inevitably said it was irreparable. He said he would summit his report to our warranty company recommending replacement and I should be hearing from them the following business day. The young blonde man that Home Shield sent out didn't know what he was doing and wasn't able to fix our washer machine. Said he had a order apart.And so we waited two weeks for him too get the part. Steve Appliance was issued to us by our home warranty service. The apparent owner, Steve, was the technician. He arrived in a poor mood. No smile, no greeting. Very dry. We all have bad days, so that's not important. When I guided him to the dishwasher, I let him know of the reason for the service request. I showed him that the dishwasher door steam exhaust vent was leaking steam moisture into the inside door panel, wetting the mother board. I volunteered that 6 days earlier, I had opened the dishwasher door up to dry the steam moisture using only an air compressor. I took nothing apart other than opening the door to air dry the concerning moisture. Steven closed the door after taking note of part numbers. HE TOLD MY WIFE AND ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE PARTS ORDERED AND THAT HE WOULD REACH THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY TO ARRANGE FOR THE PARTS. THIS WAS A LIE. Steve submitted a report to the warranty company denying service due to "unusual or excessive unnatural wear" . I will submit images of our dishwasher. It is in great condition. I could not recommend Steve Appliance to anyone that expects a friendly and truthful service technician in their homes. read more

What a horrible experience. Just by looking at review, this place is not a repair shop by choice. Comes from home warranty company. The guy was extremely rude and RACIST. He was very clear about being Jewish and us being Muslim, he certainly treated me and my family different. He was out to provide us with trouble. My dish washer was in great condition. I am an electrical engineer and I know when motor goes out. It was broken motor for dishwasher. It has been working for 1.5 weeks. Obviously it had dry stain. This company came out to repair my washer and dryer that my warranty company assigned to me. On 2/2024 a grumpy repair man came out said he was unable to repair washer and dryer because he needed to order a few parts. He said parts should be in no more than 6 days. It has been two weeks and each time I call their office, they say part is not in and to call tomorrow. I have called in day after day and either they are not in, I leave a message and have to call again to get the same excuse. I just filed a complaint with my warranty company. Not sure why they use this company and refer us warranty holders to this appliance repair company. I see they have a 1star rating! Wish I had checked before agreeing to use this company. Paid my deductible and now stuck with this company. Warranty is calling them and they cannot make contact either. I filed a claim with the claim manager with my warranty company. Sent out for warranty repair... No water, no ice. This wonderful person proceeds to tell the warranty company the compressor is bad on an ice cold refrigerator and freezer. Then said the cardboard shield on the back of the refrigerator was missing and that caused and overheat of compressor... The same compressor that is, quiet, and keeps the freezer icy cold. Lack of water in a refrigerator or ice-maker is a valve, or frozen line. Basic google search... I'm convinced these companies do these for the trip charge with no intention of ever making a repair. Steve Appliance has no one in their office to answer phone calls. I called them many times during their business hours (also in different weekdays during their business hours).no one answered and does not reply my voice messages. Their scheduling is one of the worse, only 1 appointments per work per week at my area. time frame for them to show up to the appointment is 5 hours long. So I can't even leave the houses. Asked her to find out something she did not till I had to call her back several times. The service tech was hard to understand and acted like it was also a bother. I called American Home Shield on October 5th, for my microwave, not heating. They said Steve Appliance would get back to me in 48 hours. They did, and they came out on October 9. Repair man said it was the heating element. They would order the part, he said it would take 5-7 days for them to get the part and they would call to set up an appointment when they had it. It is Oct. 20, no call, nothing. I call AHS (10/20), and they have no record of a service request for this address. I ask for a representative, they call Steve Appliance, they said the part would be in tomorrow, and once again I would get a call to set up an appointment time. Here it is 10/30, I call, about 9 a.m., and they have no record of a service all for this address. I speak with service representative . She calls Steve Appliance and they are busy serving other customers. She sends them an email, and ask me to call back. I call back about 50 minutes later. No reply from them. She calls SA again. They have to figure out how much they will cover, etc. more runaround. This same problem happened about 3 years ago (different company used by AhS), and all I had to pay was the $75 service call, and they had it repaired in about 10 days. read more

My refrigerator wasn't working so my home warranty company sent work order out for Steve's appliances. The service was scheduled in 3 days. in the meantime I did the trouble shooting the manufacturer recommended for the particular issue I was having. Well my efforts didn't work until the next morning when my refrigerator started functioning normally. I immediately call Steve's and left a message that the refrigerator was working normally and that based on the manufacture trouble shooting guide it was due to a faulty solenoid water valve. I told him, "I don't want you to come out and do nothing because I don't want to pay an additional service fee ($85.00) if you're going to do nothing and it stops working again in two weeks." He never called me back but show up 2 days later did a very cursory inspection of the refrigerator and basically said it's working fine nothing I can do unless there is some to fix. He then left. What a RIPOFF! Lucky for me that when I called my home warranty company they eventually understood what happened and refunded my service fee. Next time any of my appliances malfunction I will demand that Steve's appliances NOT be the service they assign to it! read more

He spend less than 30 seconds to check out our washer and said , We needed a new washer and he would write the report that we overloading it. The washer was almost 13 years old never been worked on. I requested service through AHS warranty and Steve's Appliance was assigned to repair my oven. They set up an appointment and gave me a 1 to 5pm repair window. The repairman arrived at 3pm and had it fixed and was on his way in less than 30 minutes. He replaced the ignitor. No complaints and the tech was polite and professional. read more

I had them come look at my microwave for a home warranty service repair. It is a convection oven microwave. They said I boiled over food and it shorted out the computer and so therefore the insurance co denied the repair. This never happened when I owned the home. Also, they penalized me for removing the cover of the microwave to help them. They said the removal of the cover was not to be fixed under warranty since it was not normal wear and tear. Because I had the cover removed, they only had to be here eight minutes to make the diagnosis, and I am penalized for that. Do not use this company! After waiting almost a week for my home warranty company to send a repair person for my refrigerator, the man just looked inside and made his diagnosis. Then he took a photo of a bubble in the plastic and used it to say the repairs wouldn't be covered. I called out a local person who came and actually removed the back of the freezer to test some parts. DO NOT FALL FOR AMERICAN HOME SHIELD EITHER. They look for any excuse not to repair your Appliance. They use bottom-of-the-barrel companies. I ended up canceling my contract and purchasing a new refrigerator. I made a huge mistake by selecting STEVE'S APPLIANCE REPAIR (818)697-0211 to service my refrigerator. When I initially contacted them and provided information about what type of appliance it was with the model and year. They were WELL aware of a recall on this particular product and knew they wouldn't be able to repair it. But of course saw it as an opportunity to make a quick buck!!! David and his assistant came to our home looked at what they already knew was the problem with the refrigerator and stated it couldn't be repaired and demanded $65.00 as their service fee. Yes for less than 10 minutes of so called work. Nor could they provide us with a receipt for the $65.00 service charge. The scam is simple: He arrives, spends a few minutes looking at the appliance, tells you he can't fix your appliance, lies to the insurance company and your claim is denied. The worst part in all this is that American Home Shield knows Steve's Appliances is incompetent, but they simply don't care because they can use his worthless report to deny the claim. Personally, I'm going to take the time to file a compliant with the state contractors association so hopefully he won't be licensed to rip people off in the future. If I could put negative stars, I would. My washing machine started having issues during the spin cycle. My warranty company sent a company out to make the repair and the technician without even talking to me about how I use the machine diagnosed the machine damage as a result of over loading. I purchased this machine with an extra large tub, not to wash large loads of clothes (there are only 2 adults and a 5 year old in my family) but to be able to wash my clothes in larger amounts of water so that they get cleaned. So I contacted the warranty company and requested a second opinion. So they sent out Steve's Appliance for the second opinion. The technician came out to look at my washing machine. He told me that what was wrong with my washer he "normally sees" as a result of a washer being overloaded. I spoke in length about my use of the machine. I asked him what he considers overloading a machine. He said when the clothes mound up over the top near the lid when the machine is loaded. I have NEVER washed a load that size and in fact the largest load that I have ever washed has only filled half the washer barrel as I have an extra large wash tub. I explained that I purchased the machine not to wash large loads but rather to make sure my loads are fully immersed in water so that they get clean and don't just swish around in dirty water that barely covers the clothes. I explained that on many occasions, the washer has gotten off balance during the spin cycle and then I go and re-arrange the load so that it spins correctly. This usually happens with loads are smaller or if I wash my 6 year old's blanket but never because it's over loaded. He said that if the machine gets off balance even just a couple of times, that it wears out the bearings which then spins off center and wears out the transmission because washing machines these days are made so cheaply and that my machine was not made in the USA. He stated that he would notify the warranty company and let them know that it has an issue of getting out of balance which over time has caused the damage. So a few days later, my warranty company notified me stating that the technician diagnosed my machine of being out of balance due to over loading the machine and they denied my request for repair. I tried to contact Steve's Appliance to inquire about the diagnosis and they refuse to answer my call. I have called them 9 times over the last two weeks and they won't answer. I've left messages and they won't call me back either. I think it's pretty shady when you have a very lengthy conversation about the machine and he goes and states that I over loaded my machine. Had I overloaded it, then I wouldn't have requested the second opinion. Each service call made cost me $100. If in fact I overloaded the machine then I would expect the same diagnosis and another $100 service bill. Who would do that? read more

I see a pattern with this company, and unfortunately experienced it firsthand. We submitted a claim to our home warranty company(2-10), and they sent Steve Appliance. We did not receive the first call from Steve Appliance until 7 days after the claim was submitted(even though they guarantee contact within 48 hours); it took another 7 days for the technician to come check out the washer. The technician spent 5 minutes"reading the codes", and said he had to order the part and it would take 2 days. The technician acted like we were bothering him for being there, and treated my wife with pure disrespect the entire time he was onsite. I left a message that night asking if we could use the washer until the part came in, and did not hear back. I left 2 more messages before calling the home warrant company, and Steve Appliance did not answer for 2-10 either. I finally received a call back, and was informed the part was in and they would be able to install the following week. I asked why my calls were not returned, and received "we will be there on Thursday to install the part" no explanation. The technician installed the part, but it did not fix the loud squeal/whine that the washer was making and the original reason for our claim. I called 2-10 to express my displeasure, but was told they could only send the same company out to rectify the issue. The technician finally came back nearly 2 weeks later, and said that the springs were stretched/broken and he would need to order the parts. I waited 9 days, and called Steve Appliance, left a message, called back the next day and was finally told that 2-10 denied the claim. I called 2-10 and they stated that Steve Appliance told them that the springs were stretched/broken due to operator error; none of which he stated during his time onsite. The gentleman was sent out by my home warranty company. I had issues with my stove. He came in, turned it on, listened for a brief second and then told me exactly what had been happening and WHY. He turned it off, opened it up, pulled the part and explained precisely what was happening. I'm a bit shocked to see the other reviews here. He looked at my fridge for 5 minutes and stated I needed Free-On and leaves. Returns back for service 2 days later to fix the issue and goes behind my fridge when he thought I was not looking and pulls out a small computer panel out of his pocket. Suddenly he peaks his head out from behind the fridge and says "Your computer panel suddenly stop working and it happened within the same timing of repair so I will order the $500 part and report it to your insurance (First American Home Warranty) because your covered." I said what!? That don't make sense, I just replace that part 2 years ago and should outlast the life time of my fridge per "Sears". The Tech (Who he calls himself Steve, which is a lie) said "Well you need a new one." Then suddenly he drop everything he was doing and ran out my door! Yes ran!! So I ran after him yelling "Wait, what is going to happen, what should I expect, are you coming back, do I call you?" He threw his arm up waiving and shut his car door and left on a Friday 3 p.m.! He left his tools, the fridge pulled from the wall, everything in disaray. So rude and inconsiderate. I tried calling his office that his wife runs (Her name is Oksana) and no one answered the phone. I left 6 message to return my call as well as my husband leaving another 3. No call back, nothing! I contacted First American Home Warranty the following Monday and advised the situation. I demanded another repair company and refused to have Steve Appliance return. First American Home Warranty refused and stated they can not because Steve Appliance already started the job and no one else will touch it. I refused their excuse and firmly stated (after 2 weeks of back and fourth calls) Steve Appliance is their responsibilty and represents their warranty company as well. If they don't change my repair service company, I will stop credit card payment to continue having them as my warranty company, report First American Home Warranty along with Steve Appliance to the Better Business Burea, Consumers Affairs ,Yelp and sue for fraud and their company running as a scam. Finally the warranty company gave in after talking with corporate management and sends "So Cal Appliance". They checked Steve Appliance work and Technician "Joey" shows me my fridge computer panel was not only still on my fridge perfectly functioning, he said it was never touched and showed me the bolts holding the panel cover that protects it still had dust on it! I was furious! He then said this fridge does not need Free-On nor to be replaced. Just needed the compressor fan cleaned out with a vaccum. Then he plugged it in my fridge and Walla, it's working perfectly. Then Joey states, First American Home Warranty always contacts me to correct Steve Appliance poor jobs. "I don't know why they keep using them myself but they keep me real busy that's for sure. They leave horrible damage as well has broken components on appliances." I reported the situation and my experience with Steve Appliance to the Better Business Burea and Consumer Affairs. I advised they are a scam, used fake parts to show as broken parts and charges warranty companies and customers for fake claims. They give fake parts receipts to warranty companies to get their money compensation as well. Stay Clear Away from Steve Appliance. Gave the warranty company information he didn't give us and now I'll have to replace my dishwasher and it won't be covered by the warranty company. Steve came out because he was sent by our home warranty company. He looked at our fridge that was not working for a minute and left. He didn't ask for or collect payment for the visit. He then told the home warranty company that the fridge didn't work because the control panel was not working. He said it was not normal wear and tear and it was our fault. We have no idea how he came to that conclusion. He never returned my phone call asking him to explain what he meant since we didn't do anything unusual to the fridge.
