I came by as Lamppost's Ziah Bloom was hosting an event replicating his third-place-winning flight from the U.S. Barista Championship. He trains and coaches all the baristas at Lamppost and has definitely made an impact in making Lamppost one of the best coffee shops in the Williamson County area. This flight had three incredible drinks: the standard espresso shot, the milk and espresso drink (a cortado), and the show-stopping signature beverage that I could drink 30 of in one sitting. As for a regular experience at this Lamppost location, it's a really cozy shop with plenty of co-working space and just a generally great vibe. Long live Lamppost! Lampost has many locations in this area and they all are consistently good. What is exceptionally nice about this location is it's overall ambience... Nice vibe quiet yet welcoming. The tables and working area areas are spread out nicely across this spacious location. The coffee was fantastic. The espresso was very flavorful and not at all burnt, like some of the other competitors in the area are known for in their coffee. This trip, I tried their chocolate chip cookie, and was a little disappointed. It was dense and heavy and the taste was not that pleasing to the palate. Perhaps it was just an off day - I don't remember the cookies from Lampost being this thick before, but my memory may be failing me. Regardless. I will definitely be back for the coffee and try another bakery item to satisfy my sweet tooth.

The food always looks fresh. I ordered the Zebra Mocha which uses real flavors/ sauces, They use spices to enhance the other syrup flavors like butter pecan and pumpkin spice. I'm still not sure what their secret is behind the banana flavor but, it is the best one: tastes authentic, they have creamy or peanut butter flavor. They've been in Austin about 6 years and am always grateful for their drinks. They are one of the few coffee places that still offer soy milk as an option, too!

Cure is closest to the Department of Public Safety. All their pastries and desserts look extremely appetizing. Their offerings include croissants, turnovers (apple turnover...my choice today), sandwiches, breakfast rolls and cakes. In addition, they serve breakfast sandwiches with customized additions. They sometimes also have breakfast bisuits. Service is always family friendly and welcoming. Today, I ordered an iced matcha latte and apple turnover. The matcha latte was perfect - fragrant matcha flavor but not too sweet with a smooth texture. The apple turnover was flaky like most turnovers but not eye-squinting sweet. I loved every sip and every bite.

In addition, I do not have a Haraz Coffee House near me, so when I am near one of their locations, I make it a point to pop in. I love Haraz. I love the ambience. I love the coffee. I love the pastry selection. I love the service. The consistency I've experienced from location to location is top-notch. The cleanliness here is impeccable, too. That bears mentioning. My go-to is the Haraz Latte. Iced. While this could never be my every day coffee, it is something I really enjoy and treat myself to when I'm able to go to a Haraz. As someone who doesn't proclaim to like cheesecake, their Biscoff cheesecake is the exception. Maybe it's a blessing that one isn't close by and I can only indulge every now and then. If you want a break from your regular coffee, give Haraz a shot. Especially when the summer heat kicks in - the iced coffee + cardamom is pretty great. Also, they seem to have a high standard for hiring. The staff is always great. Please tip generously ;)

Open later than most coffee shops, especially in this deserted part of town. Varied drink menu, both caffeinated and not caffeinated, including refreshers. Nice creative variety of desserts (including a Biscoff cake!) and a kolaches case. At one point the brought some hot baked dessert (looked like a whole coffee cake) out the oven and it smelled like heaven. The bad: Nothing vegan or healthy, not even pre-made cold sandwiches or packaged salads. If you are a little peckish for a healthy snack, this is not the place. The coffees: They have all the regular espresso drinks, and also Turkish coffee and of course Yemeni, their specialty. I had heard great things about Yemeni coffee and was exciting to try it. My first drink, a traditional coffee drink called Jubani ($6) contained coffee but was watery like a tea. It had also ginger and cinnamon. I was not expecting it to be like a tea. I immediately told the cashier I didn't like the drink and would like just an Americano, double shot espresso. I was charged $9 for a 12 oz cup. No cream or sugar, no added flavorings. If I were in charge I wouldn't have charged for this second drink, since it comes at almost zero cost to them and would show good faith and ensure repeat business. Disappointingly, the Americano was also watery and sort of "lemony", but I still drank half while sitting with my friend. I'll say that my friend had some sort of an iced latte that she enjoyed. I might try a second visit and order a Turkish coffee, but I will make sure to have had a full meal before.
