    Little locamotive, so much fun!

We have been here a few times for birthday parties and it is always so much fun! Not only do they have a spacious area to gather, but various areas to entertain the kiddos while waiting for the official train ride. They have the play town area, the playground (which seems to always be under construction), and the giant wooden train with the super popular excavator. The big yellow Cedar Rock Railroad train ($3.75 per rider over 1 yo) is such a great ride as you get to go throughout the park and through a bit of the residential area. I love how everyone is always so friendly to wave. The train itself is a bit rusty and could use a fresh layer of paint but the ride is still an enjoyable 15 minute long ride which seems to be a perfect duration. Depending on the season, there is a small tunnel that is decorated, for example during Halloween time it was nice and spooky with cobwebs and spiders etc... If you have kids 3 yo and older, I strongly suggest the little locomotive chase ($3.50 per rider over 3 yo). It is so fun to see the kids using their arms to pedal their own locomotives. The kids also have so much fun on this! Cedar Rock Railroad has a bit something for everyone and highly recommend coming here, especially if you or your kids love trains.

Really neat little railroad that's comfortable for kids and adults. My daughter really enjoyed every second of it. Playground was under construction but hopefully when we visit Austin again it's complete. Definitely enjoyable and affordable experience for the little ones. Come show your support if you're in the area.

It's very rare that you get shaded parks in this part of Texas , went there seeing the pics and it didn't disappoint! The ticket is less than $3 per person (kids under age 1 ride free), for the train ride which happens at 15th and 45th minute of every hour (most days )! As you wait for the ride to begin there is a nice music playing on speakers , picnic tables to hangout with snacks , there's a small park ,a toy train as well as a mini excavator for kids to play. There's kids merchandise to purchase (T-shirt and train whistle) which we bought to show our appreciation to the owners for the thoughtful concept! The train ride is so much fun that we took it twice !what makes it unique is the ride goes around the acres wide park , alongside a cricket field , a soccer play area full of kids who run alongside to wave and say hi, small lake where people were fishing, and a tunnel which was themed with Halloween lights and spiders:)

It's always fun to get on the train ride. I have been here several times in the past, it's never boring. Good news they are going to replace an old train with a comfortable newer model. They are going to close this place for next 3 months so people can enjoy new train in 2024. The only con today was that there were too many people which created crowd and less pleasant experience.

Fun little train ride in the middle of a large park. I love that this is a thing honestly. It's easy, it's fun, it's cheap, and it's relaxing. The little play area around the train itself could use some work and I would like to see more things added but the main attraction here is definitely the train. You hope on board a train for about $3 per person and take a 2 mile or so route through Williamson County Regional Park. You get the chance to see some wildlife as well as just the beauty of the park. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes if I remember correctly and honestly I kind of wanted to do it again afterwards, especially since the weather was nice. Definitely a nice little activity if you have little ones.

I've wanted to bring my kids out to try this train ride for a while and it didn't disappoint. The train is $3 per rider (8/2022) and they have a small concession stand, but I didn't get anything, nor look closely at the offerings. The train depot is in a shaded area, which is nice to help with the Texas summer heat, and there is a small townscape and a wooden train the kids can explore while waiting for the train to arrive. I really liked the Johnny Cash music that was playing. The train ride itself was fun and took about 15 minutes, so a fair length. Note that the speaker on the train was too quiet to really hear, but I think it was supposed to sort of guide the ride. Also, the train itself would benefit from a sand blast and a fresh coat of paint as it was rusty. Overall, I would recommend it and you can make a day out it by enjoying the park too.

Such a great place for my two year old boy who loves trains! The train ride is very nice and for only $3.50 it's a deal! I wish the locomotive was open, and the mini golf but all seem under construction. In any case it was a fun day with my toddler!

What a great find at the last minute! My 4 and 7yr old enjoyed riding the train not once, but twice! It was also a huge bonus that we were able to take our pup on the train too!

So, the 3 stars is for the activities experience and not the allergen food experience. If I did rate the food experience, it would have been negative stars, but because I don't expect Austin's to fix it, I am not factoring that into the rating I am giving them. But, I want to write the review to let other gluten free patrons know not to expect any precautions to be taken when preparing the GF pizza. My daughter is 17 and asked for the GF pizza and asked if the cook could change their gloves. The lady said no and she also told my daughter it didn't matter anyway because they would not use foil under the pizza or a clean slicer. So the pizza may as well have been a regular one with that much cross-contamination. The other reviews I saw on yelp about the GF experience made us hopeful that Austin's actually tried. But, that's not the case at all. I have always told my daughter that celiac disease is her cross to bear and not to expect others to cater to her needs. It's always very refreshing to find restaurants that are 100% GF or that take precautions because we know how special that is, but for those that don't, we can't fault them for it because it's not anyone's duty to care for her but us. So, those are places we just don't go to. So, activities are 3 stars, they are average. And food, I did not rate. Those with celiac, eat before you go is my advice. They have huge signs outside that outside food and drink are not allowed. I don't know if they would allow anything to be taken in for those with allergies. It wasn't worth it for us to ask. My daughter went with a group and it was completely paid for, but we would never go back if we had to pay for it.

The salad bar alone is enough reason for me to go back to eat there. Everything was fresh and crisp on the salad bar. The pizzas and other food were replenish non-stop and it was always hot and fresh. They always had cups, ice, and drinks available. I am serious. I'm picky and I can't think of something to complain about here. The rides are always a hit with the kids. Mine will spend 8 or 9 hours there - happily. My husband joked that it should be a place for summer camps. 4 of our group didn't want the buffet and got burgers and taquitos from the restaurant. my husband is quite the food snob and said that the burger was awesome and gave me a bite. I agreed. The bacon was like a thick cut slab of pork belly. If I didn't enjoy the salad bar so much I would definitely get the burger, but I can have the best of both worlds and eat some of his next time. Their inside arcade has so many options and the games all work. I'm just so grateful that this place exists. Austin's management - you're doing an incredible job. We are fans!

Even our bracelets printed at the same time from the kiosk. The room was spacious and clean, located halfway down the hallway, which we loved because we avoided the elevator traffic noise. The food was very pricey and pretty basic. Once we ate, we headed to the park, which was an experience! The lazy river was a nice pace and the temperature was perfect. The rides were lots of fun and the lines weren't long at all. We also explored the adults only area, which was the cherry on top. It was quiet and the drinks were excellent. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly frustrating and disorganized. Our point of contact was Jeselle Corpuz. For over a month, we were repeatedly told by Jeselle they were "working on our group rate," yet they still expected our group to commit to staying there without knowing the actual cost. We would receive emails at the end of the business day with no new information -- only that they were still working on it. Keep in mind, this was coming from the manager of group sales. We emailed several times and rarely received responses. We also left multiple voice messages and never received callbacks. We even contacted corporate, only to be referred back to the same person who had been unhelpful throughout the process. Communication was slow, unclear, and lacked professionalism. After waiting weeks with no concrete answers, we finally decided to move our troop's trip elsewhere. We ended up booking another waterpark, reserving a different hotel, and even adding another group activity -- all with far better customer service and much quicker responses. It was especially disappointing because our Girl Scouts voted for this as their end-of-year trip. We were prepared to bring not only the girls, but also their families -- which would have meant a very large group and significant business for Kalahari. Unfortunately, the lack of competence, communication, and ability to provide even basic information made it impossible to move forward. In my 10 years of planning end-of-year troop trips, this is the first time we have been unable to give the girls the trip they requested and voted on. Over the years, we've successfully planned trips to Great Wolf Lodge, Epic Waters, Jellystone, SeaWorld, the Fort Worth Zoo, NASA, Moody Gardens, and many other destinations, and we have never experienced such a frustrating and poorly managed booking process as we did with Kalahari.
