At approximately 1:15am last night our power went out and we opened the phone book to find a company on the first page that was family owned and operated. Three rings later a gentleman by the name of Marcus picked up the phone and pleasantly took all of our information down and told us to go to sleep not to worry and that they would be at our home at 5:30am to start this project of troubleshooting. They got there at 5:05 and were outside communicating to FPL that they would need a disconnect and potentially temporary power because a permit is going to be required due to the fire on the side of our house that we had no knowledge of. You would think they would've at least knocked in the door first to take a service charge or discuss some price before exhausting all of their energy and efforts to get the ball rolling on the power restoration. At 530 they knocked on the door and half asleep i walked to the side of my property to see my electrical panel box was charred and basically looked like it exploded. Turns out that the day before a major lightning strike occurred and our house was directly affected by it. Joe the field supervisor i spoke with was incredible and even contacted my insurance company to let them know their professional opinion was the lightening strike caused the power surge burned out panel and killed some of our appliances. After a 2 hour conversation with the insurance provider we were told we were getting reimbursed, everything except our $500 deductible. I'm tearing up as i write this and let me tell you it's tears of joy, if family electric hadn't stepped in the way they did not only would i have to pay for everything but i certainly wouldn't be reimbursed from the insurance man. Christmas eve walked through the door groceries in hand to find the power in my home was completely messed up. My washer and dryer, my oven, water heater, etc etc. In panic mode I called FPL only to find out that the problem was ours and they really didn't care about it. They told me to contact an electrician and I felt as though after the service I received it was my duty to make the yelp community aware that this band of brothers known as family electric ll is everything they claim to be. They did fix; all items listed above in addition to getting my pool lights working and my pool heater which I didn't even know was also affected by the power surge. I'm bringing them back on tuesday to my mother's house to do a full inspection of our electrical system that is from the 1970s. I'm certain they can make it safe for the right price. Came home to find my house was hot as hell and completely out of power in multiple rooms. Not fun on your romantic 5th wedding anniversary. Took a stab in the dark and called family electric in deerfield beach specializing in power restoration, panel replacements, and 24 hour service. Very happy to say good things about this company. We had 1) power was restored 2) panel was replaced 3)they came out at 11:45pm 4) problem solved! It definitely cost me some money I wasn't expecting to spend but the bottom line is by the grace of God my whole house could've burned down. The panel of circuits was by some old company notorious for house fires due to the breakers not tripping and staying in the on position when they should be off. Any way, this review sounds like a crazy person wrote it but I'm trying to say good things about this service company. Just wanted to say thanks to the Gentelman of family electric and air! Our insurance company called and basically told us they would drop us in 30 days if we didn't upgrade our " federal pacific " circuit breaker panel box... we didn't even know what that meant but they gave us little to know time to even figure it out. Then we called family electric!! ;) the gentleman we spoke with was very passionate and extremely nice and took the time to explain why the insurance was in fact right in telling us to have it changed and upgraded. I talked to two companies by phone and chose Family Electric to look at the aftermath of an "almost fire" incident. An inadequate extension cord smoldered under the sofa for probably 24 hours on our lanai, leaving a hole in the rug and soot covering the entire room. Greg examined and tested everything involved - the appliances powered by that cord, the wall socket and the breaker box. All passed his inspection. He declared everything OK. That was a big reassurance. Greg was thorough, professional yet warm, dog friendly and prescribed the appropriate extension cord. He also came up with a workaround for running both appliances at once and not overloading one circuit. He charged the minimum service fee yet gave significantly more value. I am so happy with this company! Last night was supposed to be hurricane Matthew. Turned out to be hurricane no show... But we still managed to be struck by lightning. We lost all power to our home and I figured even though I wasn't going to get Someone on the phone I'd leave a message and pray that I'd be one of the first return calls In the am. Well, low and behold they actually not only picked up the phone but came out in the middle of the " category 4 " hurricane. They got the power back up and literally just left about 1 hr. Ago. Not good with computers or even setting a clock on my vcr. That being said my nephew is writing this as I dictate to him. Well....family electric is as old school as me. Could not be happier or more pleased with the clean cut gentlemen who supplied and installed my tankless hot water heater and knew circuit breaker panel box thing. I have not had any issues with 30 yr of use of electrical in my home until boom! Fire dept police and rescue craziness from my neighbors and no power for 15 hours. We are very pleased with the work performed at our home! Family Electric was great! I really cant complain about anything, they were in fact 11 minutes late, but they called within the time frame agreed to and let us know. We smelled a odd burning smell coming from the outlet/ socket thingy in my son"s bedroom and were concerned. We were about to just shut down power to the house and rent a hotel for the night and tried one last electrician. ( We were pretty ticked off when the first 3 company's we tried did not pick up the phone! ) Anyway to make a long story short, they came out fixed the issues and were back again this morning for the final touches. Oh my! what a gentleman Joe was on the phone, you don't see that too often these days. I have what is called a zinsco panel box causing havoc and making my appliances go kablooey! Not a good thing. What is a good thing is the service I'm getting right now as they work on removing this cancerous box from out of the wall and into the trash. I opted for the surge protector with the LED light too. It will protect all my appliances from any future power surges. I'm grateful that these boys are here and I will update my review once they are done but I'm sure they're going to do a great job. They even brought me back coffee when they left to get additional materials because my power had to be shut down. As a mature lady who lost her husband recently it sometimes isn't easy to get work done on your own. He used to do all the hiring and now i have to get on the phone and make sure I'm getting a good honorable company and not one that's going to take advantage of me. Last night a power surge caused the lights in my house to go out several times. There was a lightening storm. I called FPL who came out to say the lines going into the house melted due to an old circuit panel box. They suggested contacting a licensed electrician and it was out of their hands. I researched finding Family Electric at the top of google. The ad stated they were open 24 hours so I clicked and called. The owner was professional. Had an old breaker panel box in my home that started giving me issues...what do you expect from an original panel that came with a home built in the 80s...nothing lasts forever so i called up family electric and they came right over. I called Family Electric when my insurance company told me that I had Federal Pacific breakers and that they needed to be replaced in order to get insurance coverage.
