This place is an excellent example of why there needs to be laws governing the use of or smelling like marijuana in public places. The smell was so pungent that my fiancé ended up in the bathroom regurgitating. This space is being used to deliver health care. The management failed to maintain a healthy environment. Once my fiancé explained to the manager that the smell was making her Ill, he went around spraying Lysol in the air to mitigate the smell from the marijuana. This did not work and exacerbated my fiancé's asthma. This is not an acceptable setting for delivering health services. All ok with my prompt diabetic eye exam/1st time visit with Family Eye Physicians, no issues with the exam itself or Dr that performed it... but there's where the charm ends and will not most likely return with my business in the future! Getting a copy of the results myself or faxed to my endocrinologist as requested has been a 4-month plus ordeal since my exam last October! TOTALLY unacceptable! Horrible customer service of continuous transfers to a "medical records" department voicemail box that absolutely never returns your call/request and when they do it's a general front desk assistant who advises they need to transfer to medical records and we start the endless, useless cycle again!! I can now understand the other 1-star reviews completely! What a shame, I thought this office had promise, on to another eye doctor office for my future needs. I love Dr.Garcia she is a good optometrist. The front desk at times does not what they are doing my husband and son came in on a Friday wasn't charge a co-pay but when I come in on Saturday they charge me a co-pay it's the same insurance. I will be inquiring about that . But the worst part about my visit was the technician we actually had words . He was trying to force me to get my eyes dilated and I refuse, he had the nerve to say I don't have time for this today you might as well just go to Walgreens or CVS. Do not tell me where to go. I left out the room and went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager . A manager was not on duty so they called one and I spoke to Karen over the phone and she apologized but I will be following up on Monday . He needs to be reprimanded. read more

I did not want to believe the reviews about bad interview experience of others because everyone connects differently with people but this practice was not professional. The practice owner Dr. Mohammad Al-Khudari had reviewed my resume and said that I had been at too many different practices which is understandable BUT he proceeded to say that if I had 10 men before my current partner he would not want me either due to being around. For many reasons that is disrespectful and unprofessional. Two other men sat the table and neither of them seemed phased by this. Now all practices operate differently. This is our first time meeting and he felt comfortable enough to say something disrespectful on our first encounter I can only imagine what he says to his medical team when he is upset or frustrated. read more

I have close to 20/20 vision btw. I do not need glasses This is a "routine" checkup visit. An hour wait just to be brought into the back. Not even to see your doctor. And they're always trying to find a way to bring you back for another visit. The specialist that helped me was pretty much going about her work routine but really lit up when she was able to find a reason to bring me back for a return visit. If I would have known I had to wait for an hour before seeing my doctor maybe I could have left and returned later. I'm somewhat, sadly, reminded of the book "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck considering the greed of some modern doctors. They all want your information asap before you visit the doctor and when they have you wasting your time isn't important. Don't buy your eyeglasses there unless you make sure you understand their guarantee. They guarantee the prescription but if you don't like the frames after wearing them, they won't do anything to make sure you're satisfied. The problem I have with that is that their frames are very expensive. You can try them on in the store but to really tell if they're a comfortable fit for you you have to wear them for a day or two. Well i realized after one day that the frames I picked out were too heavy for me to wear all day. So I end up going back to my old glasses before the day is over. I'm highly disappointed with my purchase which totaled more than $700. I like the doctor there and had cataract surgery by them. But I will never buy eyeglasses from them again. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for years - really appreciate the convenient location and nice doctors. But, that is not worth the shady ways they try to force you to buy lenses and frames from them. I have never asked for my prescription printed out after an appointment because I always buy my lenses and frames there, for convenience. But, my frames recently broke so I went in to re-order them. Since I was informed the manufacturer no longer makes my frames, I asked to have my prescription to take with me to see if there was a better selection online etc. This is where they get shady. I was JUST in less than 3 months ago for a full eye exam, pressure check etc and the doctor told me my script had not changed. Today, the lady at the frames area says my script is expired so she can't give it to me. After I tell her, I was just in here less than 3 months ago, she says, "Oh, I guess it hasn't been updated in the system" so she will have to talk to the doctor and have them sign off on it. And get back to me. Okaaaay. She says she will mail the script to me so I don't have to come back in. Several hours later, she calls and leaves a VM saying they can't release my script because I owe a $55 copay that my insurance suddenly never paid. Huh? Meanwhile I have no outstanding bill with them. Why make up a hurdle and charge me for a script I have already paid for and am entitled to. Bc you don't want me going anywhere else to buy frames?? Please BEWARE, doctors are great. But, they DO NOT want you to leave with your prescription and buy frames somewhere else. They will hold your script hostage. Beautiful facility but was extremely overbooked. Appointments are booked every 30 minutes for all doctors. When I arrived there were 7 people ahead of me. Most reviews were really bad but I went anyway to see for myself. Needless to say I left unseen because I did not have 2hrs to wait. I would not wate time calling this place. I wanted to make my first apointment to see a opthamologist but as the girl that answered my phone call was not cooperative, I told her that I would find some place else. The trouble began when she insisted on having my medicare number before I even had an appointment. I told her that for security purposes, I do not give out my number until I am in the office ready to see the dr. The young, stupid girl then told me that she would have to put me down as a self pay patient then and I would be expected to pay the bill myself. who knew they charged for missing an appointment, I missed 2 appointments. Now I have a bill for $170.00. They were recommended to me when I had an eye allergy Flare up. So I had a visit that was was pretty much just them looking at my eye and telling me to come back and we will see if the swelling gets worse. I set an appointment missed it, rescheduled and missed it again, had too much going on at work. But no one ever said hey Mr Rutledge there is a fee for missing an appointment neither up front or after I missed the first one. (Inform your customers). I don't recommend. Review on behalf of Val V. Extremely poor service. Patient since 2009 and have always come in for an eye exam with the same insurance. Consistently since 2009, whenever I have made an appointment, they did all the necessary (same testing) when I would schedule my eye exam and family eye physicians would bill the insurance after the visit. My recent and last visit, I scheduled my eye exam, assuming like past consistent years, they would do all the necessary testing and I would not have to pay out of pocket (self pay) because I have insurance. Was told they didn't have my insurance info on file when I came in. That should of been the first red flag. They were not helpful at all. Ended up paying self pay for the eye exam. After the testing was done, I told them they didn't do all the testing they normally do when I come in. I was then told when I scheduled my eye exam it was my fault that I did not request the "medical" part of the exam. As a customer since 2009, I always received the medical part when I would schedule my eye exam appointment. ( You would think their computer system would have previous visit history and what I have had consistently done throughout the years in terms of eye exam (some kind of notes would be in the system). Dr. Nygun said during my exam, that I wasn't scheduled for the usual testing and I should tell the ladies at the front desk that I should get a refund for todays visit and schedule the medical portion of my eye exam. However, this did not fly with the business office. The business manager informed me, that I requested an eye exam, and did not include the medical. Even when I scheduled the appointment and said I had insurance on file from past visits they said there was no insurance on file. Which was not true. My fault for allowing them to bully me into thinking I had to self pay, I realized during my exam, that most of the testing was not done. Dr. Nygun caught this error during the exam but that didn't matter to the office staff. A good shout out to Dr. Nygun for alerting me to this but the office staff was impossible to work with. This information was available to the doctor and therefore one can presume it was available to the office. I had a question for the insurance billing (specialist?) She minced her words; by stating over and over that I chose to do an "eye" exam and did not ask/or schedule the medical part. In hindsight should have just cancelled the appointment and gone elsewhere and not self payed for the eye exam, and according to the billing specialist if I specified on the phone eye exam plus medical I would have had the full services and then billed to insurance, but because I the customer failed to do that I had to self pay for the eye exam. In addition, they must have a subpar organization regimen and I should have realized when they claimed they didn't have my insurance on file despite being a patient since 2009. Correction, former patient. Warning for those reading this review if you want adequate services to include the medical portion of the eye exam when you call and make your appointment. Apparently, you need to be very specific on the phone when you schedule your appointment to get full coverage when you in fact have insurance. A waste of my day, time and money. Will not be back. Had an appointment about a month ago - my complaint has been blurry vision. I saw Dr. Al-Khadari (for about 2 minutes). He had me buy an eye compress, wipes, and drops. He told me that instructions would be emailed to me. I never got the email. So I called - still don't have the email. At my visit last week I thought I was there for a followup to see how the compress, wipes, and drops were working. I was told that I was there to get plugs in my tear ducts for dry eyes. No one told me that! And the doctor I saw told me not to use the compress every day - a couple times a week should be all I do in the summer. I did get a printed instruction sheet this time. Not completely happy. My father had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Wassia Khaja Ahmed. What I don't like is that post-op visits are performed by other OD doctors and not by the same surgeon doctor. We had questions, we were lost and things were not perfect. But mostly, the answers were blurry and not a single extra word was said by the staff. The vision is still not good, not much difference before and after the surgery. Waiting times were like 40 minutes in a room between nurse and doctor. Now, as my father still has problems, we decided to switch. read more

First of all, Doctor did not even wash his hands when removing contact lenses and his face mask was not covering his nose (in the middle of a pandemic). He was not careful and second guessed himself. I had PRK surgery and his rough contact to my eyes made them irritated. The technician had the longest nails possible, when applying the contact lens. This is antigenic and could cause an infection. My 1 year old had an appointment here per his pediatricians request. His pediatrician wanted to make sure that he did not have bumps behind his eye due to a couple cafe au lait spots. Once we were in the back the eye doctor zeroed in on a noise that my baby was making. I'm the first to say that I do not have a clue as to why he makes this noise. This is exactly what we told the obsessed eye doctor but he wouldn't let up. This prick went on to constantly repeat the fact that he's never heard a kid make that particular noise and so on. It became really uncomfortable for us. He spend more time speaking on the noise than the eyes. We became visibly frustrated to the point that we stopped answering questions about it. But this asshole of an eye doctor kept going. By the end of the appointment he asked why we were even there in the first place. How odd, we set for over an hour waiting to be seen and then seen by 4 different people looking in his eyes and didn't even know wth they were looking for. Not to mention they tried to have an assistant with press on nails to hold my one year old eye lids open but dad wasn't having that. I will never visit this place again. Scheduled an appointment for my son online. Received notifications and confirmations. Spoke to a worker confirmed all information. I get a call less than 24 hours before my sons appointment stating that this doctor doesn't work with children and they need to move my appointment to someone else. How does a company wait an entire week and confirms all information but doesn't know what doctors see what patients and give such late notice to patients about cancelled appointments. If I were to cancel that late I would most likely be charged regardless. Very unprofessional. People working there have no clue what they are doing. Terrible service. read more

This office is a JOKE! Called to schedule an appointment for my child and was told because of my type of insurance they could not see her until the end of July. that is 1.5 months away! after I mentioned to them that my child had had a "pinkness" in the eye for the past month. dear patients who book an appt here. be aware. if they tell you that your medicare or medicaid-managed plans are not covered for cataract surgery please check with your insurance. do not believe that your insurance does not cover if you have medicare or a medicaid plan, whether they are a managed plan or not and you need cataract surgery you have 2 options; cataract surgery with mac anesthesia or a laser surgery it is covered as long as the doctor is in-network. if they say you need lazik for cataracts it is not true! if you have a cataract, the lens within your eye becomes cloudy, and vision can become obscured as if looking through a dirty windshield. lasik corrects refractive errors by reshaping the cornea of the eye with an excimer laser, but if there is a cataract, lasik will not correct the blurriness caused by this disorder read more

I interviewed with Dr. Mohammad Al-Khudari for a position at his Oak Lawn location on March 10,2022. It was by far the most uncomfortable and unprofessional interview I've ever been through. After he overall discredited my experience for the position I originally applied for, he offered me a completely different position there. The very first thing he asked me was my age. Then continuously asked me if I was 100% sure I would be able to even pass a background check if he did offer me a job there. As If I had something to hide. He made a comment about my nose piercing and how it's completely unprofessional for me to show up to my interview with a nose piercing and that I should know that. He was so pleased about my Bosnian ethnic background and even asked if my parents were okay with the fact that my boyfriend is Hispanic. Majority of the speed interview questions he asked me had absolutely nothing to do with the actual job I interviewed for and were extremely inappropriate. It seems the only reason he was willing to give me the job he was hiring for was because of my ethnic background. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I hope he cleans up his act and never makes anyone else feel like that. Wouldn't have done my LASIK surgery anywhere else! You will be in good hands! Carmen, Dr. Al-Khudari, Dr. Zielinski, and Dr. Dzubur were all very knowledgable and easy to work with. They'll answer all your questions, and will give you all the information you'll need to see properly. Carmen will be with you from the start to end, including in the surgery room. It was very reassuring to have her there with me. All the doctors did optimal best for the experience I had and I'm grateful. The waiting time is long, as expected, so just book enough time in your calendar. They checked my eyes three times before the surgery to make the right amount of change in my eyes. There was check up apt, then a dilation apt, the big day (surgery day), then it's 4 spread out follow up apts. .... This place is the worst! Do not go there for glasses or contacts! I had to go back for at least ten contact fittings. TEN! Because the doctor couldn't figure out my prescription. I also got glasses which aside from being extremely expensive were made with the wrong prescription. When I received them I told them they made my head hurt and they said I was just adjusting and should give the glasses two weeks (even though I've been wearing glasses for at least 20-25 years). I waited and it obviously didn't help; I went back and they realized they made my right lens a whole point too strong. I had to wait for them to remake the lens and when it came back they had forgotten to put the anti-glare coating I'd paid for so now I had one lens with anti-glare and one without. When I brought this up the lady argued that it was on there and she could tell simply from looking at the glasses. read more
