Been coming here for years. Love Dr. Ken. Over the last few years the service has GREATLY declined in the Homewood office. I've had some stressful interactions with staff. I have bought many pairs of designer glasses here but the quality of the lenses are not good. I've gotten better lenses for less money online. Unfortunately I may be looking for another office to service my eyes and my style choices. They don't repair my frames here. Had the same problem with 3 pairs of Gucci, Tom Ford and Jimmy Choo. The doctors though are AMAZING. Definitely worth it for them but not necessarily a retail outlet. Other than wait time, the service is stellar. Good luck. read more

Dr. Lisa Wilson is fantastic. However, the administrative and office staff are a bunch of incompetent clowns that have a collective IQ of about 3. When it comes to ordering glasses or contact lenses, I would trust a bunch of first-graders more than these people. For example, my wife's glasses sat in their office for 2 1/2 weeks while they texted their availability to a home phone line, which we all know doesn't work. Not one follow up phone call was made after this. Funny, they had my cell number and appointment reminder texts had been previously sent to me but no one took the initiative and tried a phone call or a text to my cell phone. That would have required common sense, which NONE of these office staff people have. read more

After going for years without having the ability to wear glasses, my vision is finally corrected. I was diagnosed about 25 years ago with kerataconus. My ophthalmologist, at that time, switched my contacts from soft to gas permeable ones. With them, I was able to see well, but when I removed them at night, I could not see! As years passed, I was told that I did not have kerataconus at all. Still, the optometrists could fit me for contacts, but glasses would not correct my vision. As an English teacher, it was extremely difficult to read and/or grade papers unless I was wearing the contacts. Glasses just did not correct vision appropriately! No one took the time to explore my vision issues. If I were driving at night wearing my glasses, I couldn't see which lane I was in. Also, other cars coming my way showed like stars-- couldn't see the vehicle, just the lights! Dangerous does not even begin to describe that situation Anyway, Dr. Lisa at Kirschner worked with me. She had me rest my eyes for what seemed like a month. She asked that I not put my gas perms in until we could determine how much my cornea shape changed without the contacts holding them in place. By doing this, she was able to determine my true glasses prescription. Now, I can rest my eyes from my contacts-- now sclera lenses-- and wear my glasses all day. I can drive at night without fear of injuring myself or others! This has helped me tremendously. I am now retired, so I wish I had stumbled upon her earlier. Especially, now that my insurance is not as good as it was when I was working. I like Dr. Lisa's approach to optometry. She seems to care about the patient. I can't speak to optometrists there because I'd been treated at KVG before I'd run into Dr. Lisa and my trouble was not recognized and, therefore, not corrected. When I arrived I got greeted with a smile and a genuine Good Morning. While completing my paperwork, I was called in the back. The testing area is the best. The optometrist took her time with me, thoroughly explained everything to my understanding and explained the pictures of my eyes. Then the icing on the cake (sort of speaking) Carmille handled my "frame picking " as if she was wearing them, her numerous years of experience combined with the love for her work, landed me with the perfect frames. "We not going to pick anything, these glasses are a piece of jewelry for your face". Hands down the absolute best I've seen in the field. I wanted to share my recent office experience at the Homewood location to bring awareness to the disturbing behavior exhibited from the staff. I'm a returning customer who had a bad experience on my last visit with my Son. We experienced what I felt to be prejudice due to our Race. I felt as if we were being watched as we looked for frames and somehow we were made to wait to be seen after those who came in after we did. I then spoke with one of the staff members expressing my dismay and felt my concerns were head and addressed. Since then I thought just maybe from that incident some training or conversations at least had been had and giving them the benefit of doubt would be in order. I can truly say I was wrong and should've followed my first mind a d stay away. Thank God I didn't have my child with me this time to experience exactly the same thing.. My complaint is not with the Doctors... but with the rude staffing that handles the customers. Michelle is Rude and her stoned facial expression,mannerism and tone are disrespectful. The Asian female receptionist stared at me the entire time I was there and made me feel very uncomfortable.. I thought at first tgat maybe it was just me.. until I meet eyes with the eldery afican American female sitting next to me as the Hispanic worker proceeded to tell her entire denial of her insurance benefits and all of her personal business so that whoever was listening could hear. The secondhand embarrassment and pain that I felt for this lady is heartbreaking. What happened to Hipaa ?? I sat there and made my decision to take my business elsewhere. If I were you and you're considering doing business there.. DONT!! I visited Kirschner Vision Group today as I needed to restock my glasses cleaner. I purchased a spray cleaner which comes with a cleaning cloth, in a small plastic bag, perfect for transport in a tote bag. I believe it was $8. While there I asked whether I could look at the glasses and did so. Beautiful frames are available at Kirschner Vision Group, some high-end designer frames, and some more modest in price and style. There are also sunglasses and sports models available for purchase as well. The hours are very generous and include Saturday hours. No problems about courtesy or lack of same of the staff. I did observe that the desk that the staff are sitting points away from the door, not towards it, a small design glitch which requires that they look up and around to assist arriving customers. The desk when installed should have been facing east not north. When I am ready to order a new pair of glasses I will consider the Vision Group. read more

The biggest scammers in town when it comes to frames. I had been coming here since I was a child. I've spent hundreds of dollars on frames every visit. Carmille the scamming salesperson convinced me to attend the December event where glasses go on sale. I attended and it was there that I uncovered what a sham the entire event is. The sales lady from the showcase gave me a price of $150 for a pair of frames, which would have been free considering my $150 insurance coverage. After I sat down with Carmille and told her this she then got up and whispered in the sales lady's ear and then came back to me and said the frames are $300. Carmille new that my insurance covered $150. She planned to pocket the rest. I laughed in her face and walked away. I called them out on it before leaving. I asked the receptionist for my rx and then left. They are all in on it. Unfortunately, because the event was literally at the end of the year, I had to use my annual benefit before it expired so I went to the Orland Park location that same night. While I was there, someone from the Homewood location called to update them that they had currently made $25k that night. They make tens of thousands of dollars on that one night selling overpriced frames. I will never go back there because of their sheisty ways. I have seen Carmille use her discount for her friends and family while ripping off other patients. If you must come here, get examination and your rx and buy frames from somewhere else. read more

I woke up last week to a pain in my left eye. It was very sore and sensitive to light. I called Kirschner Vision Group, and was able to get a same day appointment to see an eye doctor within 1 hour of my phone call. Dr Sam was great! When I went in, she was able to see that I had a small abrasion on my cornea and she prescribed drops for me that did the trick within a week. And my whole appointment time only took about 20 mins! This is not my first visit to Kirschner but it has been awhile I went somewhere close to my job but as they say you get what you pay for my vision is not well and so I am back motto going forward stick with who you know. First and last time at this place. When I called to schedule my appointment I specifically said I was going for glasses only. Apparently it was my job to tell the Dr I was there for just glasses. They wanted to hit me a $60 contact fitting fee. Something I did not need. As I am looking for glasses the tech knew my vision required the most thinnest lens, therefore it was her job the recommend a frame where the lens was going to be less noticeable. I went with her recommendation, I picked up my glasses and as I was driving home I noticed the lens out of the corner of my eye. I take them off and sure enough you can see the lens sticking out. When I called to ask if I could exchange she made it seem like it was my fault. Definitely not going back there again. read more

As the previous posts have stated, the front office staff is terrible. I've bought 5 pairs of glasses over a 4 year period, and every time a front office does something unprofessional. On my last and final visit, I went back in, 6 weeks after getting a full exam and new glasses. I told the woman at the desk that I wanted to purchase a pair of safety prescription glasses. She went into my file and told me my prescription was no good. I asked her why, and she said I needed to get an exam. I asked her if a different type of exam was required for safety glasses, and she responded, "Yes, you need to schedule a new exam". I asked her what the difference was, and she snapped back, " this exam is expired". I told her there's no way it expired in 6 weeks. She then picks my file back up and after going through it, finds my most recent exam & prescription and tells me "oh, here it is" This woman is so lazy, rather than just going through my entire file, she would rather lie and schedule a new exam for no reason. I might be able to deal with unprofessional service if the prices were reasonable, but I've since found out that other places charge much less for the sames frames and lenses. read more

This was my first time here, unfortunately it was not a good first impression. I'm not one to complain, and I'm very understanding. With that being said I came in, about 20 minutes early for my first appointment. When I was brought to the back and sat down I heard "Oh the new guy is actually on time?" Now me being very understanding and not jumping to conclusions I assumed this maybe was said because I was a new customer and not because I'm a young black male. I pushed that off to the side, but when being checked out this older women was so completely rude. I picked out some frames and the first thing she told me was the price. I didn't reply, other than reiterating the fact that's what I wanted. She told me she would "let me think on it" After everything. When rescheduling because I was just going to speak to the owner being that this is the closest place to me. I ask to come in Friday and her reply is "it's Friday" I said "no... it's.... oh it is Friday haha" and she says "Yea just think for a second" So after my review was posted for a day or two, I was contacted by one of the owners I assume. Just the fact that they contacted me shows me my first experience was not their usual. Also the fact that my next appointment I made went wonderfully then my check out went just the same. I believe that was mostly because I had no interaction with said older women I talked about before. So as I said I'm a very understanding person so I'm going to increase my rating because it's obvious that they do care. read more

This was my first visit here and I will definitely be back. I had an appt with one dr and since she was running late with another patient, another dr saw me since he was not busy. That was great teamwork! And as a busy Mom with little free time I appreciated the effort for outstanding customer service. This is my third year at this office. Seen Dr. Kirschner initially, and he has no bedside manner. Seen Dr.Gennine the second time and she is very nice. Made my third appt. with Gennine, but they pushed me off onto a different doctor when I arrived. Was told my new lenses would be ready in 7-10 days. They were ready 19 days later!! When I complained about the wait, Nancy told me I should buy a second pair so I won't be without glasses!!...as if $350 for new lenses and a basic eye exam (without new frames!!) isn't expensive enough! I can't give a review of Kirschner's service, because we ended up not purchasing here since not a single person acknowledged our presence in any way, much less offered to help us. My husband had an exam and purchased his glasses here a few years ago. They broke on Friday and he felt it was time for new frames anyway. So, we went to back yesterday to look at frames and schedule a new exam. No one greeted us, made eye contact, asked if we needed help- not a word. It was as if we were invisible. Just got an exam, been here for 3 years. Office staff is terrible, no one greets you when you arrive. And I had an appt. and still no one even said hello. While doing my eye tests the person took a personal cell phone call. Horrible! When I was done and paying my bill the staff barely looked at me and carried on a conversation between the three of them while they ate at the receptionist desk. Most unprofessional office. I've been going to for the at least 10 years and have been very happy with the doctors. It's time for my family of 5 to have our annual and new frames so instead of calling I walked in after work. The greeting from the receptionist was extremely unwelcoming. After her chat with her co-worker she finally looked up to tell me with cursed, vilified look on her face she said that she will be right with me. I'm extremely willing to endure the greeting and I wait. She walked away came back and I still wait until another couple walks in and she immediately asked with a pleasant smile hello and smile if she could help them. My thoughts were first that she was busy or maybe she had a headache because of the loathful look she gave until the Caucasian couple came in. So I then left and will never return. Front desk staff was rude and told me the doctor would be with me shortly. Apparently we have a different idea of short because I waited more than an hour to even get into the doctor's office. The worst part is no one seemed to care. There are way too many eye doctors around to deal with this kind of treatment - go somewhere else...unless you enjoy sitting around doing nothing. read more

My wife wanted to try this facility out! I agree with the other reviewers! Their customer service is really Horse@#$%^&*! Received all kinds of misinformation on wife's glasses plus after the tech found out we couldn't afford to buy sunglasses and new frames for her SHE was saying I'll be right with you to everyone who walked in and was not paying attention to my wife! Then ran into people who also went to this facility and it was the same story! All agreed on that Dr. Sasha Murphy is A1 in our book! Too bad front staff is terrible! The doctor was nice and very professional, but staff and manager were so bad. I just needed to order my contact lenses baed on the doctor's prescriptions. However, the staff even did not know the power, cylinder and axis with contact lenses. I could not order contact lenses. She did not even try to understand what I was trying to explain. so needless to say I had one of the worst experiences of my life at this vision center. I was never called back and reminded of any appointments, I had an initial appointment and follow up appointments. When asked why this might have happened I was told disrespectfully told I don't know. I also had a hard time making a follow up appointment for contacts, since my doctor was on vacation for a couple weeks. The office has very weird hours which does not allow working people to come after work. As A full time worker and student I was not available until after classes ended. When I did come in for an appointment I was made to feel horrible for not being able to come in earlier, and was almost conned into buying contacts that I did not even know that I wanted (no trial pair was offered!!!!). I would never recommend this doctors office to anyone as I spent over 500 dollars and was treated less than sub par! read more
