I cold-called Family Fence & Supply to ask whether they would be interested in providing an estimate for the installation of a pedestrian sliding gate on the side of my property. I briefly explained the type of project I was looking to have completed and was simply told, "not interested." Of course, every contractor has the right to decline a project, and I completely respect that. However, as a prospective customer, I found the interaction surprisingly abrupt. There was no explanation as to whether the project was outside the company's scope, whether they were too busy to take on additional work, or whether there was another reason they could not assist. I am sharing this review primarily as helpful feedback. Based on the many positive reviews I had read about Family Fence & Supply, including comments about communication and customer service, I had hoped for a more welcoming initial interaction. Scott came out to quote for each neighbor, offering a very fair price and was very prompt with responses and lead time. We had Scott and his team install vinyl fencing to replace old, rotted wood fencing on both sides of our home, including a small custom fence for a dog run we have along side our yard. Install was quick and very professionally done. Our backyard was in great shape after and the team took good care not to trample our landscape. I do have to mention that it was probably the hottest point of the early summer in Riverside and he and his team still came and knocked it out in great time. I called Family Fence and Supply to come and repair my fence that blew down in the wind a week and a half ago. After talking to him everything seemed fine until the day that he said he was going to come. He called me that day and said that he was going to have to postpone till after the weekend because he had some vehicle troubles. I said that's fine, so then I called him back the day he was supposed to come and he did not answer so I left him a voicemail asking to call me back. It's been 5 days now with still no response on this so now I'm back to square one trying to find someone to come repair my fence. EDIT So Scott finally reached me while I was out of town and had someone there the next day. Scott from Family Fence and Supply responded pretty quickly and was able to come out on fairly short notice to replace termite eaten posts on our wooden fence. Scott and his crew arrived on time and were very friendly and outgoing. They were also able to complete some last minute repairs requested by my adjoining neighbor. Their rate was very fair for the post replacement and they even replaced several broken boards without charge.
