In a market where there's a lot of temptation for dealers to maximize short term profits at the expense of long term customer relationships Family Ford is an outlier. I recently purchased a Ford Lightning from this dealer and it was one of the fastest, easiest purchase processes I've ever been through buying a new car. I reserved the truck last May and converted the order in January. I was eager to take delivery but also anxious after hearing so many horror stories of dealers tacking on massive 5-figure markups on pre-orders or jamming in unwanted and overpriced dealer add-ons. They USED to be a good service center. Prior to a year ago would have recommended. They are now officially Bob Ruth Ford of Carlisle. My husband brought his Mustang in for routine maintenance. They forgot to put the cap back on the engine oil receptacle. After driving it twice and noticing the smell of oil he opened the hood. It's amazing the cap was still sitting to the left side. There was oil all over including the underside of the hood. He took it back to show them the mess-they didn't really apologize, they kinda cleaned it up, and didn't offer any compensation. They aren't even selling cars now-just service and parts. We will be looking for a new place! read more

I bought a used Ford Escape in June 2021. The 2020 vehicle was a hybrid which is what I wanted. The sales person carefully hid that the car had some damage from a rear end collision with I don't know what. Of course, they didn't mention that when I purchased it. I discovered the damage and went back to them; they said, the vehicle was used. End of discussion. In the meantime, I have had troubles with it not starting. They had the vehicle in their shop 2 times. Said they had fixed the problem. No so. I took it to another Ford dealership to discover the car battery had a cell completely dead. Not covered by the warrenty. Now today, I am getting the vehicle state inspected to find out the rear shocks are leaking. The car has 27,000 miles and of course, the shocks are not covered by warrenty. All I can say is, to be very careful when dealing with Family. I will not recommend them and will not buy a future vehicle from them. Enough said!!! read more

As a first time customer at Family Ford in Carlisle, I recently brought in my 2016 Ford Explorer for service under the direction of Service Manager Dan Little. Previously, I have been bringing my vehicle for normal service and maintenance to another Ford dealership in Camp Hill for the last 2 years. Most things went well there with the exception of a hesitation that only took place from a stand-still and only after the car was started. It drove me crazy because it went on for so long plus I was worried about safety - especially if the car suddenly stalled at a light on a busy road like route 15. Numerous mechanics, shop foreman and even the service manager put the vehicle through all sorts of tests, driven and verified the hesitation on multiple occasions, yet I always brought the car home with the problem 100% unresolved. This went on for 15 months - and admittedly, I began to question and challenge why they could not and would not solve the hesitation problem, especially when it was under factory warranty with only 22,000 miles last spring. Now in fall 2019 the vehicle went beyond factory warranty with over 41,000 miles which would have meant a huge out of pocket expense to me. It was at time I decided to leave this dealership to seek resolution elsewhere. I spent countless hours, days - even weeks writing letters, providing documents and interacting with Ford customer service in the Philippines only to encounter even more road blocks and frustration. This entire 15 month+ process was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered as a consumer for anything - ever. Then one day out of sheer desperation I decided to give Family Ford a call to share what I'm experiencing and to see if they had a local USA based Ford representative who might intervene, review my history / documentation and point me in the right direction. The individual I initially spoke to from Family ford on that day was Service Manager Dan Little. Dan and I never met nor have I ever been a customer, yet, he was willing to take the time to listen to me, review my history in Fords computer system and even went as far as to contact his local Ford rep on my behalf on that very first day. I was completely blown away by Dan's desire to help a complete stranger. A few days later I received a call from a Ford USA based customer service manager in Florida. This guy authorized a free diagnostic via Family Ford and Dan was nice enough to welcome me in for an evaluation. Dan drove the car with me in the passenger seat and was able to verify the hesitation did in fact exist. We made an appointment to drop off the car and he was nice enough to have "Dalton" shuttle me home. Amazingly and on the very first try, Family Ford's top notch mechanics determined the cause and a part was then ordered. Dan kept me abreast of their findings and another appointment was made for installation. To be quite honest, I wasn't too confident this car would ever be fixed because another Ford dealership could not resolve the issue in 1 1/2 years. Yesterday 11/12/19 I received a call from "Pete" in the service department to inform me my car was ready to be picked up. Dalton arrived at my home to shuttle me back to Family Ford and now I'm in possession of a 2016 Ford Explorer WITHOUT hesitation and WITHOUT being charged because it was determined the repair was covered under the 50,000 mile warranty! Needless to say I could not be anymore happier! There are all kinds of levels of customer service in this world but only a very rare few rises to the level I experienced from Dan Little and his service team at Family Ford. He may feel he was only doing his job but he really did go above - FAR ABOVE and beyond the norm to end this problem for me once and for all. Thank you so much for providing me such extraordinary customer service and for the exceptional mechanical experience from the individuals who actually worked on my vehicle! I went in for a test drive in a Mustang 2.3L Eco Boost and Mike, the Sales guy, was very welcoming and obliging. He had a great knowledge of the vehicle I was interested in and explained all the bells and whistles with remarkable clarity. After the test drive I had no real plans, any real hope of, actually completing a purchase at that time. However, I was so impressed with the car and the friendliness of the staff, that I spent some time with the Finance guys. Not only did they get me approved but at a very reasonable rate with an affordable monthly payment on my dream car. I could not be happier with the sales and service I have received from them. I just purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle with Family Ford and my experience was very positive. I located the vehicle I was interested in and sent an email from their website. Within less than an hour I received a text message from Ethan. This was on a day they were closed! He promised to give me the information I required when he got in the next morning and did so promptly. The purchase was perfectly smooth. The asking price was very fair when compared to Kelley Blue Book. The vehicle was as advertised (if not better). I ran into a small issue two days later and sent an email again. This was after 10 PM. Again, Ethan replied shortly and promised to get back to me the next morning when he got in. He called me early the next morning and asked me to bring the vehicle by and the service department would make things right. The service department was friendly and professional and apologized several times for the inconvenience that was caused. If I could give a 0 I would. Me and my fiancée were looking on their website for a nicer used vehicle and we found one. It was a really nice decked it all the bells and whistles 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Online it was quoted for a very air price as my sister is a loan coordinator and can run vins to bring up the vehicles absolute value down to the dollar. So I called up around the time they opened the next day. I was told they would call me back in 24 hours and tell me if they still had it or not. So I waited. The next day around noon I get a call saying they did still have it and it was being sold for 15500. Almost 4 grand above the original quoted price. I figured a place who prides themselves on "no surprise numbers" slogan I went up there anyways to see if they would atleast honor the marked price. As is custom in many places. So me and my fiancée go down to family ford. We proceed to ask to see the Lincoln. We are told it isnt there, because the boss has been using it as his own personal car. Well it pulls up shortly after. They proceed to show it to us anyways. Garbage all in it. Cigarettes in the ashtray. Food wrappers on the seat. Dents and scratches down the side. It was embarrassing for us but I mean they didn't seem to have any shame from the incident. I refused to even look at it. Marked up 4K from book value and the owner was obviously living in it. Have some pride in what you do. Also we were offering a trade in. Apparently to get the value of a vehicle you just look at it based off of your expertise from across the room. What a joke. Now my car is doing the same things it was doing THE FIRST TIME I took it to Family Ford - flickering lights in conjunction with repeated clicking in the dashboard, car "bucks" when it accelerates around 25-30 MPH, etc. etc. It's dangerous to drive whenever the car RANDOMLY accelerates and decelerates, especially while driving at lower speeds. Buyer beware! I bought my used Chrysler at Family Ford in March 2014. The test drive was fine, no problems came up. Less than 1 week after I bought it, the check engine light came on. I took it in and they replaced the O2 sensor. Less than a week later, the light came on again. I took it back and they were unsure what was causing it. They managed to get it off and sent me on my way. 2 days later the light was back on! I decided to take it somewhere else. The new mechanic said there were a few issues, one being the O2 sensor needed to be replaced. I brought in the paperwork from Family Ford only to discover that Family Ford put the wrong O2 sensor on my car. The manufacturer states that it needs a certain O2 sensor or it will continue to throw the check engine light. So I got that replaced again. Then the new mechanic tells me that the car "desperately" needed a tune-up. I know enough about cars to know that if the check engine light is on, it might need a tune-up. This vehicle went through the Family Ford shop THREE times in 2 weeks and they never once did a tune-up. This mechanic advised that if there were more problems, to bring it back and they will do more digging. Another week later and the engine light came on again. I took it back to the new mechanic, who did some major research, even calling the local Chrysler dealer, who advised that there is a known problem with this engine that needs internal engine repair to resolve it. They printed out the information and advised me the steps to take. I called Family Ford to speak with the shop about the O2 sensor being wrong, missing a tune-up, and how they missed the service information from Chrysler. His response was that he wanted proof that they put on the wrong part (which I have), that they didn't do the tune-up because they aren't familiar with Chryslers ("after all, they are a Ford dealer" - his words exactly), and that he would have no way of knowing the Chrysler service information but that they checked and there wasn't one (?). I pushed the issue, about how it made it through their shop and they claim to have no idea there was an issue, and I was told I would have to "prove it" that they knew. Then I am told that the shop manager would discuss the situation with the owner and call me back. I never heard back. They never addressed the situation. Fast forward to now, still less than 1 year after purchase, and the car will not pass emissions. I am now forced to take it to another mechanic to see if the engine can be resolved so that I can just drive my car legally. This has been, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with a car dealer. Family Ford has sold me a car that has been in the shop too many times for the same issue in less than 1 year and it is still not resolved. I understand buying used runs risks, but telling me to "prove it" is extremely condescending and very telling about their character. I now tell everyone about what I went through and will continue to do so. Buyer Beware! read more

If you're ever thinking of getting a car or need yours serviced, do yourself a favor and DON'T GO TO FAMILY FORD IN CARLISLE. Been there on two occasions now, both experiences have been TERRIBLE. Today I picked my "repaired" car up just to immediately have the same problem. They then "fixed" it, assured me I was good to go... And a mile or two down the road.. The car shuts off... I call, he comes out, "fixes" it again, tells me that he's started it four times now so the problem must just be me since he gets it started every time and I don't, telling me bs things like I have to have all my doors shut and locked or the car won't start. (I've had my car almost six months and never had to do that nor is it anywhere in the manual). Then he offers to follow me home, but at this point I'm just heated so I told him off, and he starts making up lies like they tried calling to tell me there were other issues, and they left three messages because I didn't pick up... Except I have zero missed calls or voicemails... And they called me this morning, so I know they had the right number. And he claims they did my car ahead of schedule, except really I was told it would be looked at last night, and it never was.....THEN he says he didn't sell me the car, so it's not his dealership's responsibility to fix it or tell me what's wrong with it... (I bought it at a Mazda dealer, but the car is a Ford and under warranty by Ford.... And this was the closest Ford dealership I could tow it to.) He even tried to blame the fact my dad was mad and left the dealership on me, when really he was running late to get to work at the races, and was annoyed he drove me to get my car, just for it to not work.. Then left because the man there said "don't worry I'll get her out of here". He told me I was never welcome to his dealership again for anything, to which I told him I really don't care seeing as this is my SECOND awful experience with them.. Needless to say the car broke down AGAIN not even a block from the last spot... So just called and had it towed home... And this is THE SAME dealership I called last year to look at a car, I get there, the car I went to see is not on the lot or even still in their inventory..... Then the salesman picks my at the time 1 year old daughter up without my permission and is telling her she is so cute and he is gonna take her home with him (joking I'm sure) then wonders "why is she crying?
