My review is a bit long, but I think worth reading if you're shopping heating contractors or otherwise considering shelling out thousands of dollars for a new furnace. I had a 23 year old furnace that shut down last winter when the temps dropped to 20 degrees. I made the repairs and got us through the winter. We also had a cold spot in the house (family room), which was an addition to the original house, and the furnace could not deliver the heat to that room, so the former owner had piped and installed a gas space heater. Since there was no chimney, the space heater exhausted into the family room. That in its self did not make me comfortable and I was burning gas with the furnace as well as the space heater, both of which gave me no comfort in the way they operated. It was like running two furnaces. When the first cold weather hit this year (2014), I fired up the heat and started to have intermittent problems with the furnace. There was no way that I was going to take the risk of no heat at 20 degrees again. I knew that I could not put off replacing the furnace and had to address the need for better heat distribution to the family room and get rid of the space heater. I got 4 quotes from heating contractors, Mulligan Heating was one of the contractors. When Jim DeFlorio of Mulligan came out to make an assessment and provide a quote, I explained, as I did with the other contractor, the heat distribution problem in the family room and that coming up with a fix to that problem would have to be part the quote. Jim started taking measurements like all the others, but he took a much closer look at the heating duct distribution for the family room, and to my surprise, he basically told me that he wasn't sure what the solution would be. He thought that zoning the main part of the house and the family room would possibly work, but he wanted to get the experts from his company to come out an assess the situation and come up with a working solution. The next day, Jim and Brian showed up and outline a solution that involved placing two automatic dampers controlled by two separate thermostats; one in the main part of the house and one(wireless) for the family room. These guys were not the cheapest bidders for the project, but they were the only ones that actually approached the problem like they really cared about finding a working solution and not just making a sale. I gave them a green light to get the furnace replaced and to apply their fix to heating the family room so that I could remove the space heater. On Friday, Aaron and Mat showed up as planned and on time to start installing of the new furnace. Aaron and Mat brought along special duct work that had been fabricated by their sheet metal shop based on all of those measurements that Jim and Brain took. The house was build in 1956 and the furnace installed in 1988. Aaron and Mat ran into one problem after another, but Aaron, a well seasoned installer, came up with a fix for every problem. I was very impressed with both of these guys. Both very meticulous, good enough was just not good enough for Aaron. Brain stopped by to check up on things and Jim called to make sure everything was going well. Brain came by after the installation was compete and balanced the two zones. He assured me that I would get even heat distribution throughout my house, including the family room. Here's my bottom line; these guys delivered on what they promised and took ownership of any problems along the way when installing the furnace, without asking for more money. Thus far, I have no regrets in selecting Mulligan Heating or with the furnace they recommended (Model 96T). Coming up is my first winter with our new furnace and the special zone controls that Mulligan came up with. I expect to get adequate heat to the family room and I expect my heating bill to go down since I purchased a 98% efficient furnace and remove the space heater. I'll follow up with additional comments next spring as to wheatear or not I got my monies worth and Mulligan's backing of their installation if I encounter any problems. On the evening of January 29th I noticed it was getting cold in the house. We checked the furnace and indeed it was not working. It was going to be 20 degrees over night and all day on Monday. We called Mulligan first thing Monday morning and a technician, Brian, was at our house by 11:00 am. He very quickly diagnosed the problem and that the 1993 furnace was shot, but also could be leaking carbon monoxide (he was very concerned if I (Dawn) was feeling any ill effects from potential exposure) , so the furnace had to remain off, resulting in no heat in the house. Brian indicated that their schedule indicated Wednesday would be the likely day to bring a new furnace, however, upon his realization that it was already down to 54 degrees and dropping, that I worked from home (I was so cold) and that our pipes could freeze by Wednesday, he called the main office and made a plea on our behalf. Within an hour a new crew was here removing the old heater and installing a new one. Brian even came back to help to ensure the heater was fully installed that day. Once they were done installing the heater and getting it functional Brian sat with me for nearly an hour teaching me how to use the new high tech thermostat. They were wonderful and so concerned that we got hour heat back on. Kuddos to Brian and the team! We lost cooling in our AC unit and I called Mulligan heating (same day service) a young lady showed up and determined I had a freon leak and was kind enough to give me my options, explaining I had a 26yr old unit, cost to fix, verse replace. I mentioned I was a disabled vet on a fixed income and wasn't sure what to do. She made a phone call and I found out they gave a discount to veterans which meant a lot to me. She told me if I wanted a new AC unit, that they may be able to do next day, but to call around first and let her know what I wanted to do. I made some brief calls and noticed the prices were higher than I was quoted by Mulligan Heating. I called her back thanking her and said, we'd like to have our AC installed by them. They were out the next day with a crew and did an absolute perfect job, our house is actually cooler now than it ever had been. The young lady refused to charge me an initial service fee, waited and acted the second I called her. The group from Mulligan heating was totally professional and I'd recommend them to anyone. They have earned my total respect are the only providers I will use going forward with any of my heating or cooling jobs. Thank you all for everything! read more

My husband and I recently purchased a newly built condo in Ann Arbor, MI. The builder subcontracted Mulligan to install a Bryant furnace and A/C, a Honeywell humidifier, and two programmable Honeywell thermostats. We moved in January, 2018; and in July, I contacted Mulligan to come out and check over our A/C which was partially covered in a thick film of construction dirt, and what turned out to be packed cottonwood. I also requested User Guides for both thermostats. Bill came out, checked and cleaned the A/C and went through the programming procedures for the thermostats with me plus provided User Guides. He also checked the humidifier pad and settings and provided useful operating tips. Per my request, he emailed my service receipt (which was covered under warranty) and sent a maintenance contract to consider for future service. The installers showed up a half hour early. Not late early. They were dressed neatly in uniforms. They were both extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my wife's 40 questions. Lol. They took out our old carrier unit and installed our new Bryant. They kept the job site neat and clean. They even cut away some tree limbs that were by the unit. They carried all of the old unit out with all the debris. They even included a new pad for our new Bryant to sit on. Thanks again Mulligan Heating and cooling. A few days ago my furnace went out. The thermostat make a awful noise, called a neighbor and he could not find the cause. I had to have heat I am a senior and there are pipes that could freeze overnight. After calling 3 local companies including the that installed my furnace. Mulligan responded with a very efficient teck Joe Perry . He had my furnace running in no time. I have to say the best teck I've ever had. I called Mulligan when my furnace humidifier started leaking. Ed came out to look at it and changed the hose and adjusted the water pressure. He did say if that doesn't work it would be about $155 to repair it. I appreciate the fact that he tried the least expensive solution first. Unfortunately it started to leak again a day later. I called in the morning and Ed was back out within a couple of hours to fix the humidifier. We've experienced nothing but great service from Mulligan! read more

Was able to come in a few days earlier than scheduled. While it is unusual to install AC in winter, the peripheral items could not wait. Xavier and John did a professional job and stayed late until work was done. They had to custom bend the AC lines around the dehumidifier and fabricate the sheet metal boxes above and below but did not charge extra. Price was for 4 tonne unit SEER 13 and all the extra routing work. read more
