I was a little disappointed with the move. I was moving my daughter from a one bedroom apartment (second floor) to a third floor apartment seven minutes away. I thought the move would take around 4 hours. The movers were taking their time and very slow. It ended up taking 6 hours. They also damaged the wall getting the sofa out of the first apartment which could have been avoided if they had taken their legs off the sofa. We had everything packed and ready to go so it was only some tubs, boxes and furniture. They charged by the hour. Not sure I'd use them again. The move cost double what I thought it would, after tip it was over $1,000. I guess the one good thing is they didn't break anything. read more

Aaron was easy to communicate with about the project and David and Kyle arrived on time and managed to get everything done in the 2 hour minimum time as well. Considering how difficult it looked to get my king-sized mattress up the stairs in my new home, I can easily say that hiring FME was one of the best uses of my money in a long time. From the receptionist to the actual movers. They were all amazing and professional. Rich & Dylan were my movers and they were both amazing. They were on time, efficient, working hard, and FAST. They didn't slack off at all and quick thinking too. I have lots of smaller items. They were able to put them all in a big box to save trips too. They definitely work smarter not harder which is great. I am the type that like to do things, so while watching them makes me want to help. We hired this moving company based on a referral from Carnegie Heights, and their rates were initially more competitive than other providers. However, the experience was disappointing. It took them 9.5 hours to move the contents of a one-bedroom unit (furniture ONLY), largely due to frequent arguments between the movers over how to load the truck--at one point escalating to threats of a physical altercation. Additionally, each mover took turns disappearing for extended periods, sometimes up to an hour. In the end, we were refunded $50, but the total cost was still over $1,200 for a 28-mile move. read more

I recently moved back to LA, and as a person who has moved a couple of times across the country, this was by far the best move ever! I also was prepared! Bill and Kyle were early on arrival. They handled my belongings with care, and they were very accommodating every step of the way! They arrived at my storage unit before me, and seeing as I had a wifi entrance, they asked how I would like belongings placed, and they placed things amazingly accessible, better than requested! The binding contract was assuring as I have hired third-party companies that could care less, and they added cost once outsourced movers off Craigslist. Past company experiences had added cost, and since you signed a dotted line, you are contractually stuck, or you delay moving by sending movers away. Keep that in mind when you hire companies that take your inventory and can alter contracts. Note, my inventory didn't change, so I was baffled. I was charged 2k more and was stuck moving due to circumstances, and my belongings were damaged. Also, keep in mind, tip your movers, if they are as great as my guys! read more

I can't begin to praise Family Movers Express enough for their services and the value they offer. I just bought my first home last month and needed to empty out my 10x20 storage unit. David and Jessie showed up on time (15 minutes early actually) and ready to work. I worked it up in my head and budgeted for 4 hours for sure, maybe 5 hours for a little cushion time. Neither of them hem-hawed around trying to "milk the clock" to make more money for the business. David and Jessie worked non-stop from the time they opened the back of the truck to load it at the storage unit until they finished unloading and closed it at my new home. They were very personable and engaged in conversation with me while they worked, but kept working at the brisk pace all the while. In the end, my 4-5 hour time budget was completely wrong. The whole transaction only took 3 hours! I have another move I'm helping a friend with in less than a month, and make no mistake, I WILL BE USING THEM AGAIN FOR THAT MOVE, TOO!
