First time customer, came here for a new prescription and glasses. The initial visit was great, doctor was personable and professional. Got my new glasses and was quite happy for the first year. Full disclosure, the initial destruction of my glasses was my fault, letting my daughter get ahold of it. I took the frames and lens in and asked to purchase a replacement frame. Transaction was fine, new frames came in a week later and they reinstalled the lens. A couple days later began my current 2 and half month so far ordeal. While driving with the replacement glasses the frame snapped right around the lens. I took the frame in and asked the staff if there was a warranty on the frames, as they broke literally 2 days after I had recieved them. I was told yes, and they asked if they could send the lens into the lab to shave down the size a bit so it could fit into frames better. I said sure. It has been 2 and a half months since then and I still haven't gotten my glasses back. We've been calling the office pretty much once a week and have gotten responses that they had to follow up, they hadn't gotten a response from the lab, the lab wasn't releasing any of the orders for some unknown reason, that the optometrist needed to clear things up, that the lab has lost the package. The entire time the situation has been treated with a lack of urgency, with us needing to chase after them for updates. At this point I don't know if I'm ever going to recieve my glasses. And my old pair that's about 4 years old is falling apart read more

I recently had an eye infection called Preceptal Cellulitis and my eye swelled up like crazy! Been going to this place on and off for the past 20 years!! Its almost like family here. My optometrist here Dr. Ton is great. He spends time examining each patient, spending time talking and going over the options with his patients. Also theres a lot of small talk about family, siblings yourself from health to families to studies to all sorts of information. From the front desk to the optometrists this is a 5 star establishment. Prices are reasonable, and delivery of your contacts or glasses are fast. They have you try them on when they arrive just to make sure your satisfied. The other day i left my credit card there and they called me right away to arrange that i got it back which was really nice of them. If your insurance allows you to see dr. We've been going to these bomb optometrists since I was in 8th grade! Seriously they are the only doctors I actually like to see. Dr. Ton & Dr. Lim are the best! Every year we go there, they remember my family and it's good that they take the time to get to know us. They're very friendly, very helpful, and very easy to deal with. I am soooo sad my insurance changed and I can't go to Dr. Lim or Dr. Tom. They are amazing!! I went to them for many many years, about 6 or 7 years. It is relatively easy to get an appointment with them as well. I came here in glasses at the age of 11, and they were the ones who got my first contact lenses when I was 12 or 13, and they were very helpful in teaching me how to properly put in my contacts and everything. These are just amazing doctors and I highly recommend their service!! I think I remember always getting free samples of lens solution with them, don't know if they still offer it. and mind you, I have been to two other optometrists because of my insurance and none were as personable and caring as Dr. Lim or Dr. Tom. read more

I was soooo sad when my insurance changed and I had to stop coming here. Dr. Ton is the BEST!! He's very knowledgeable and I always came out of my appointments seeing clearly and very satisfied. On top of that, Dr. Ton really cares about his patients. Despite seeing him once a year, he would always remember little details about my life. It's that personal interest that makes Family Optometry stellar!! (He's also great with kids btw.) I think I've only seen Dr. Lim once, but he seemed very nice as well. In terms of frame selection, there was always a wide variety of frames to choose from-- anywhere from affordable frames (~$100) to designer choices. Additionally (and unfortunately unlike most other health care offices), the rest of the staff was always pleasant, helpful, and happy to help with quick fixes like eyeglass adjustments. Notice all the five-star reviews? That's because Family Optometry is THE best! They used to be located in the Von's shopping center on Lemon Ave, but moved to the current location on Lemon, just north of Valley on the West side of the street. Much better parking in this location. Dr Lim and Dr Ton are excellent. They and the staff always remember you and your family members names. They also make prescription sunglasses, which is terrific, considering I am blind without my prescription glasses on. The doctors also are very giving individuals, volunteering to help needy people needing eye exams in the L.A. Area. Been going here for about 15 years. Only once was there a problem with our glasses and they took care of it right away. They also happily adjust our glasses when needed, staff is very friendly, professional and efficient. We were looking for a good dentist and it turns out Dr Lim's brother is a dentist. He and his staff are amazing too! read more

I've had this optometrist since as long as I can remember... Never had vision problems, I have 20/20, but I have blurry vision in one eye.. so they gave me a light prescription only to be used when reading or driving at night. Good because I hate wearing glasses all the time. My Take on O of W: 1. Great location/parking, easy to find and good hours of operation (closed Sunday only) 2. Competitive prices on frames and extra prescription (Rx) features 3. Very good extra Rx features selection 4. Awesome customer service I highly recommend this Optometry! Glad to have a place like this so close to home! My Details: 1. Family Optometry of Walnut has now been my Optometry of choice for years now. I'm so glad to have such a great optometry staff, eye services and options available and two extremely knowledgeable and friendly Drs. so close to home & convenient. It is easy to find if you know where Vons supermarket is near the corner of Lemon Ave. and La Puente Rd. They also have great hours of operation (As of 2/19/09): M/W/F: 9:30am - 6pm Tu & Th: 10am - 7pm Saturday: 9am - 1pm Sunday: CLOSED 2. I've had several frames I brought in and frames I've purchased filled here with my Rx and I was able to get a great selection of tints, Carl-Zeiss Vision technology DuPont teflon coating (anti-glare for my driving glasses - http://solateflon.com/product/index.shtml), polycarbonate (for scratch-resistance, lighter and thinner lenses) for a small additional fee. I love their Fossil Titanium Flexolite frames! I can bend them like crazy and they just go right back into shape. The first time I saw it I freaked. it's like UFO material or something. With my insurance they were free. 3. They display & offer a lot of frame brands, styles, color variations you can order and other neat stuff like light-sensitive, self-shading lenses but I haven't bought any of those, yet so can't really comment. I have, although it was a long shot, brought in my Versace glasses I bought at Sunglass Hut for about $379 and Dr. Ton personally called me to tell me that their lab will take on the job of fitting my sunglasses with my Rx!!! TIP: High-end designer glasses tend to pop out and are very curved which can distort the Rx so if you plan on eventually putting a Rx in your designer glasses buy a pair that are fairly flat (Not the wrap-around type). 4. Drs. Lieu Ton and Derek Lim are fantastic at what they do and like them, their staff, (I've only delt with Katrina, Sandra & Teresa - sorry if I left anyone out) make you really feel like family and care about your ultimate happiness! They've got a pretty good system of dealing with customers too because I almost get helped immediately with or without an appointment and my exam's go so fast but thorough that I look forward to going every year. They always make sure I'm satisfied too! After I got my Versace sunglasses back I wasn't completely happy with how the lab fitted the Rx in the frames and Dr. Ton personally tweaked them while I waited and months later the lens seemed to pop out again while I was at the Brea Mall. I took them to Lens Crafters in front of me and after ignoring me about 5 times and waiting almost 20 minutes they were nice but only suggested to take them back to Dr. Ton or they could try to fix them with no guarantee for $40 or something. Then I went downstairs to the Sunglass Hut where I bought these Versace frames and they wouldn't help me even with my receipt. Well, I took them back to Dr. Ton without an appointment, I was seen immediately by Katrina and before I could finish my sentance Dr. Ton overheard me & told Katrina to have their lab have a new Rx installed and less than a week later Katrina called me to tell me they were ready for pick-up! I had them for almost 10 years never had a problem until one of the Doctor call and threaten me. There are four member in my family. They are all under my insurance. Every year I always have to pay extra but that's fine with me because I want good glasses and services. The problem was 2 years ago as usual all four of us went to have our eye examine. They got pay from my insurance for my hubby and one child but not me or my other child. All they had to do was call and inform me so I can contact my insurance. They did NOT called or tell me this problem until after 2 years even when I was in last year for the examination. Well I called my insurance and they told me they don't know what the problem was since i'm the primarily carrier and everyone was cover at that time. Especially if I'm the primary and my dependent got paid then why not me. Well point was it's too late to do anything since it's over 2 years ago. Of course I went in to pay for it. But I did not like the fact that the doctor called to THREATEN me to pay. All they had to do was inform me of the problem from the beginning or just ask nicely. Very bad moral and ethic service. I will NEVER goes back to them or recommend anyone at all. NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!! read more

I love this office and Dr. Ton is the best. I've been going to Family Optometry of Walnut for about 4 years off and on (depending on what my insurance is), but I bring my kids here every year for their eye exams. That's because Dr. Ton is awesome with kids. My daughter is 11 and very well behaved, and Dr. Ton makes her feel comfortable. My son is 6 and a bit on the fidgety side. Dr. Ton is patient and very kind with him. I even had to bring him with me to my appointment this week, and Dr. Ton was very understanding and chatted with him a bit. I currently find myself without vision insurance and the rates here are very reasonable. I think we'll be coming here for years to come!! read more
