Speed and service was good. Food was cold, dry and lacked flavor. The highlight is famous Dave's corn bread muffins. I do like the fact that they teamed up with bakers square for pie. I have been going to famous Dave's for over 15 years and they have managed to keep themselves in the realm of mediocrity for sometime. I came to test out this famous Bread Pudding, and just as I assumed, it was just fine. I took it to go, and it came in a cute box with reheating directions, which I followed to a T. As with most bread puddings, you can't go wrong! The texture of the bread pudding itself was a little soggier than I had wanted, but the flavor was pretty decent. I enjoyed the golden raisins. Let's talk about the sauce, I found the pecans to be a tiny bit bitter. I think had the pecans been candied, it would have solved that problem. The pralines sauce was tasty with the bread pudding. We went to Famous Dave's on a Thursday evening, and while it wasn't crowded, there were a fair amount of folks there - everyone was socially distanced, and I noticed that staff were carefully cleaning as patrons left. I don't recall if our server ever gave us her name, which is too bad - I'd love to recognize her personally for her outstanding service. She was attentive and personable, and even in a mask, you could hear and feel the smile. She had a "Manhandler" sandwich with fries, and I had an "ultimate burger", also with fries. Our fries were piping hot and perfectly seasoned - and the sandwiches were both delicious. My burger was cooked nicely, and served hot and fresh on a toasted bun with an ice-cold set-up on the side - really the best burger that I've had in recent memory! The Manhandler sandwich was piled high with brisket and a hot link, and the brisket was perfectly prepared - she was über-impressed with her meal...and she's a Texas gal that's picky about smoked brisket! For dessert we shared a bread pudding - which was wonderful! My only disappointment of the evening was that the size of the desserts seems smaller. It was once generously portioned and big enough to share - now it's a much smaller piece. Still delicious - just smaller. This bbq restaurant was conveniently located near my hotel, which made this of place my go-to for lunch. I was instantly greeted and even though I was placing a takeout order, I was offered a seat. Dave's offers lunch specials as well as plentiful-sized kids meals. I enjoyed the kids pork sandwich with fries. It came with a drink and an Oreo cookie (you can swap this for cornbread). The sandwich was good overall, the meat was a bit dry for me... hence, I deducted a star. Also, I found the sauce rather spicy! Just FYI... good, but spicy. We also ordered rib tips to go. The platter was amazing. So much food. We also had wine which was nice. The house cab was decent. We had several glasses. When the food came out we weren't given a caddy or napkins. No bueno on no napkins at a bbq joint. And being outside we had to run in for the caddy and napkins. Fast forward to later Saturday night. We decided to break into our leftovers and eat the tips. Again the platter was good, even as leftovers. Was a bummer we weren't given to go silverware but I appreciate we should've requested some. The tips were inedible. So fatty and gross. We're seasoned (haha punny) bbq tip eaters but honestly, no exaggeration, only 10% of the tips were edible. We were in town to visit family that was at the Mayo system. This place was ok nothing spectacular the staff was so so and the taste was ok till later in the day when 3 out of 4 had upset stomachs and didn't feel good for two days after . Good Food As Always!! You can't really go wrong with Famous Daves. I had the Devil's Spit Burger this time around and it was delish. Service was cool but it was not busy at all. It was literally my family and a middle-aged couple in the whole place and that was it. Brother did complain about the Brisket (said it did not taste fresh to him) and I also tried some of my moms rib tips which were pretty good as well. Excellent BBQ location in Rochester MN. Famous Daves is a chain that started out in MPLS from that Dave guy (as seen on TV) doing BBQ Competitions. Anyway, he was good enough to launch a successful chain. This happens to be as good as it gets in Rochester. I like the ribs the most. Smoked for hours, then painted with sauce and grilled to bring up to temp and to carmalize the sauce. Superb! I've not had anything on the menu that I was not impressed by. Give any of it a try! Couple things to mention: Yummy corn bread muffins. Fantastic options for a sweet tooth. Full Bar - try the smoking ice tea, it's a play off the classic Long Island, but much easier going down. Our waitress seemed to really be hustling and was very busy, but was still pleasant and attentive. When I mentioned to her that the kitchen staff should be told about the cold food, she said she would let them know and she would also tell the manager. The product I received was not hand breaded chicken tenders, but some processed chicken nugget version of chicken tenders. I tried one and it was terrible. I called the store to see if maybe they have two different kinds, and I'd ordered the wrong item. I was told that they are now serving a frozen product, as they were throwing away a lot of the fresh chicken tenders. I explained that I'd ordered based on the the website description and was simply told "sorry, we cannot change that at this time". The store didn't seem concerned with misrepresenting their product. Devils spit bbq sauce was great. Sides were weak. Mashed potatoes...meh. Corn cobs seemed like they had been cooked for hours and were inedible. Cornbread muffins were fantastic.
