Great community barbershop in the area! Within the past year they have remodeled the shop and added a bunch of new lights and decor. The barbers always check to see if people who walk in need a cut, and try to get them serviced as soon as possible. There are maybe 12 chairs and usually at least one or two barbers in the shop that can cut you on short notice. A lot of them also do online booking so you can schedule ahead time. read more

One of the barbers doesn't clean his equipment and one of my sons got ring worm as a result. Listen, I haven't taken my kids hardly anywhere due to covid. Decided it was time for a haircut because it's been so long (again pandemic). Every single time it is a wait with RJ, however, that doesn't bother me much as long as the quality is good. Well, he cut my first two after waiting awhile. Then someone came in and he let her son go in front of my last boy, stating "it would only take a second." . I'm pretty easy going so I thought no problem. Boy was I wrong! A week later we noticed a dry patch which we thought it was eczema; he's had it before. We tried treating it as usual but it continued to spread. We took him to get checked out and low and behold-- a ringworm! I put two and two together and realized the reason my other two didn't get it is because they went before him and the little boy went ahead of my son who contracted it. Very disappointed! Came in with no appointment, emergency haircut for my wedding. Luckily Chris was there and came through with a classy, masculine cut with a nice fade up the sides. Usually I have to wait a week for cuts to "even out" but this one was ready to go out the door, just like I remember from my stylists in Hollywood. Camera ready. I looked great in every photo I won't forget this experience. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Absolutely worst haircut I ever had in my life! I don't want to mention name but you can barley see the fade. And top of head and beard are not trimmed evenly so there's some ball spots. I hate having to come home and fix my hair after I paid someone else which was overpriced ($40) please he didn't deserve my money. I went here about 5-7 times and over all they cut well. But they have zero respect for others time. They'll make a 40 min haircut into a 1.4 hour long cut bec between every stroke they'll change a song, talk and watch the game playing and wait about 2 mins until they start cutting again. However I'd still have given them a 4 star rating if it wasn't for the fact that my brother went in for a hair cut for one of the guys. After the cut the guy told him it was 23 or 25. My brother thought it was 20 and just asked isn't it 20 ? ( my brother had planned to give a 5 dollar tip on top of what he was going to be charged) And the barber had the audacity to say " these are my prices other barbers have their prices and if u got a problem we can take this outside". Now my brother is 21 and this guy was over 40 and a man. He's lucky I wasn't there. Telling a kid that we can take this outside while you cut hair in the suburbs of Katy isn't hard. First time visit was Super Bowl Sunday 2023 for my 13 year old son. i called for an appointment and "Q" scheduled him for his next appointment available which wasn't a long wait at all. never having been here before, we walked in and most barber chairs were empty and we didn't know that Q was in a back area. We were greeted and directed back to Q where he was finishing up with his previous customer. My son was able to convey what he wanted and Q made it happen. Q took his time to do exactly what my son requested, and he did it well. We love the haircut and my son received many compliments from his friends at school. We do recommend that you call and schedule your appointment. When we left, most barber chairs were full and I counted at least 5 on one side with Q having customers in line waiting while my son was getting his hair cut. The price was fair and very reasonable. Damn. I should have trusted these low ass reviews. There's a reason so many people leave negative feedback and just one star. The front door says walk-ins welcome, but that in fact is not the case lol. The reviews are pretty accurate no one greets you or acknowledges you even for that matter I don't really care if you greet me or not but at least attend me for the service you are promoting to provide. Worst experience at a barbershop by far. I came in trying to get a haircut for me and my son they sat my son down to get a hair cut while three other barbers were sitting around drinking liquor, I asked if one of them could take care of me and they said they were off already while drinking there Henny.. I politely asked if they could put the Texas longhorn game on when I got an annoyed response saying they had football on already. Wasn't the game I was asking for I expected more from this place. Even the vibe of the music was way off, the whole time they had old school, R&B music, playing while a toddler in a walker, was walking all around with hair stuck to the walker, as if there were no want to clean up. This place had no care about good hygiene there. I'm never the type to leave a review, but this had to be said I give this place zero stars for lack of customer service, bad hygiene/cleaned work area. And flat out bad taste in music. read more

I'm not sure what just happened but I've never had to answer so many questions for a mediocre hair cut. I needed a part on each side. He seemed so unsure about where to put it that I just gave up. I don't think I was explaining it difficultly and that has never happened. I opted not to finish the cut. Left $20 on a $15 cut and left. This was my first hair cut in the Houston area. Before going to famous fades I had called 4 times, no answer. I looked online and saw that they were open so I walked in. It was a little busy so I stood for 10 minutes then there was a open seat so I sat down waiting to get a cut. I noticed another costumer was waiting and started asking if he could get a cut, he looked upset that no one wanted to give him cut and he left super angry. I was patient and i noticed a barber was done cutting another persons hair, he looked at me then looked down and walked away; I was waiting for 45 minutes and my personal barber had left for the week. I needed a haircut for an event desperately. If anyone needs a cut and call before going and no one answers...don't waste your time going they'll have you waiting until 9am opening and 8pm closing energy was cool the cuts were aight although they had another guy come in hat hadn't called and they took him first, I don't think that's cool. read more

I think the guys here have very good talent. I have been bringing my boys here for nine years to the same barber. The only thing is they have no respect for children. When they are discussing issues or sports they are loud, and use profanity calling each other the N-Word. The customers whom hair they may be cutting carry out the same behavior and none of the barbers have sense enough to tell their customers to watch their language front of children. Sad. No respect. First of all, let me start off by saying Ive lived in a whole lot of different places from Phoenix, AZ to Washington D.C. To San Diego, CA to San Antonio TX. Ive been exposed to and have experienced many different barbershops. I just moved to Katy, TX about a month ago and was in search for a good barber. I came into famous fades with the direction of yelp and the hope of getting a good cut before the New Year. Whenever I get a cut in the new barber shop for the first time i keep it pretty chill when asking for what I would like. I asked for a 3 on top and a 2 on the sides with a bald taper on the sides and back. My barber replied with a confused look on his face "so Ima have to fade the two into the three?" At that moment, I knew I had made a big mistake coming into Famous Fades. Too top it all off, and I assure you i have left many positive reviews in my time when i receive good cuts, I ain't that loser who doesn't got anything better to do than to just sit at home and hate on peoples livelihoods in between commercials of family feud. Anyways, to top it all off this dude gave me the guinness book of world records babyiest smallest taper ever. My taper was nearly non existent. Not sure what he thought i had meant by bald taper. Not only was the haircut not good whatsoever, this dude still charged me $30 for a baby taper and a basic haircut i cpuld of gotten in my bathroom with some Walmart clippers. Searched for a few barbershops in my area and stumbled across Famous Fades. Noticed it a few times passing through N Mason so I decided to hit'em up. After looking at their Instagram page I knew I wanted Demyko aka Myke to cut my hair. Stopped in and the shop was well kept up and clean. Lots of chairs for the customers and barber chairs. Although the wait was a little bit, it didn't bother me what so ever. That just goes to show you how much people like this spot. Immediately got me in the chair and the cut was top notch. HIGHLY recommend Myke for a baldfade any day of the week. read more

I wanted to get a drop fade but instead I got the worst cut ever after trying to grow out my hair they cut everything off. On top of that there was no customer service, they don't greet you or tell you the pricing until you ask. There's no telling who's a barber and whose a customer. They're more concerned about making a quick buck. They don't talk to you about the type of cut you want and if you don't specify they'll assume you want all your hair cut. Just moved to Katy, saw decent reviews decided to check this place out. I showed the barber, whom will go nameless, two pictures with exactly what I wanted(fade, scissors on top and a part lined on top of my head). Guy said he could do it. Unfortunately, and to my amazement, guy does the "part" on the side of my head; what the heck was he thinking, the picture clearly has the part on top of the head dividing the hair. Afterwards he proceeded to provide me with an less than average fade. At the end, when asked how it was, I lied and said it was okay, due to the other people there and not wanting to embaress this guy publicly. To say the least, had to come home to the laughter of a lot of my friends and family, I even laughed at how ridiculous I looked. Oh well, hair is hair and it will grow, but word of caution to anyone else looking for a new barbershop. read more
