I came here for Restaurant Week twice this week. The first time was so good, I had to come back while the deal was still on. I had the bacon cheeseburger with famous sauce, along with waffle fries and a mint chip shake. Let me just say the presentation here is unparalleled for a burger joint. The shakes come out with a beautiful drizzle around the glass and the hamburgers are stamped with the restaurant logo burned into the bun. The burgers are on the large side at 1/3 lb each. Everything tastes fresh. The waffle fries are positively crave-able, as is the mint chip shake, which tastes like an Andes mint turned into ice cream, complete with melty chocolate bits. And just to prove they've thought of all the details, the shakes come with thick straws so that you can actually sip them, unlike so many shake places. The wait staff here are always so friendly. I have had plenty of great experiences! My new favorite combination is the fiesta chicken burger with sweet potato fries! The burger is juicy, and combined with the guacamole, corn, tomato, black beans, etc. I would love to see this recipe be combined in a wrap or nachos. My son likes to get their sliders. I have tried their strawberry milkshake and it was amazing! They usually have a burger and shake of the month that always look so good. Their inferno burger is really good as well! The interior is comfortable with booths to fit 4 and larger booths to fit 6 or more (if you have little ones). There are also a few tables that can be pushed together for larger crowds. The inside decor attracts to little kid and the place specializes in salads and warps, which is great you can take a large group and picky eaters. I am not a big beef eater, so cannot tell you much on how good the beef burgers taste. On the other hand, chicken burgers are great! The chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection. Great spot for a late night meal. The restaurant has an upbeat and bright atmosphere. I've received amazing service both times that I've been. The food here is always served fresh off the grill. The mushroom burger is very juicy and the bun is perfectly toasty. On my most recent visit I ordered a burger meal for pick up and realized how "to-go-able" the food here is! Whenever I try going back to a vegetarian diet, I go for this one, and there is not a thing I miss about a regular burger. We've dined in once, but we usually get carry-out. They pack things right so that everything doesn't get all soggy en-route. I think we'd dine in more (and I'd add a star) if the staff (mostly young men) was a bit less rowdy near the kitchen area. This review is quite a bit behind, but I went with my family to Famous Hamburger on Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn last month for my brother's birthday dinner. We dined there during the week in the evening with a group of about 10. I can't compliment our server enough. She was so extremely kind and polite and didn't get irritated with our obnoxious method of ordering ;) We also had a cake that she brought out and offered to cut for us all well. They put it in the fridge for us during dinner and we didn't have any issues. The food was great also. I had the Southern Chicken Wrap with grilled chicken rolled with lettuce, cheddar cheese, avocado and salsa in a lawash rollup. I skipped out on the tomatoes and red onions. I got sweet potato waffle fries with it and they were excellent! The wrap was $9.49! We were there for Dearborn Restaurant Week, so everything was super cheap, but it's very reasonably priced overall. I'd love to go back! Overall, I like this place. I've been twice for lunch but this was my first time coming for dinner. Although, I'm not sure why I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked (I prefer medium ) because it came back well done. My service was efficient. That's the best way to describe it. My waitress was not friendly and she didn't engage in small talk. She took my order, delivered my food, checked on me once and delivered my check. Very robot like. You can't go wrong coming to famous for a meal. The food is always good, the staff is very nice. You will find lots of families dinning in. I ordered a famous burger with bacon on it, it was pretty good, nothing to die for but a little above average so not a bad choice. The presentation of the burger is what made the experience awesome. I like my fries plain, with just salt... if they're good fries, they don't need anything else, in my opinion. These needed nothing else. Same goes for the burger. I ordered the California burger and with the exception of ordering it with cheddar instead of the standard American "cheese", I didn't have to add or take away anything from this burger. Great straight out of the gate! My only complaint is that they do not salt the fries right out of the fryer, so by the time they get to you, the salt from the shaker on the table just kind of bounces off of them. Everything that is good about the original location on Shaffer has been replicated here in busy West Dearborn. The sandwiches are great - I love the Juicy Lucy and the California burger, covered in fresh avocado. Probably my favorite aspect of the place is being able to swap out french fries for a super fresh Caesar salad - and it's not a tiny side salad, either. It makes me feel better about pigging out on a fat half pound burger :) The service has been great both times I've eaten at this location. Frequent drink refills, prompt food served piping hot. My only complaints are that parking is rough for this location - the lot across the street specifically says they'll tow you if you park there and go to Famous Hamburger - which means you are stuck in the parking garage a couple blocks away, although at least the garage is free now! You can try to grab a spot in front of Moose's and iBurger Lounge if you're feeling lucky. Also - this isn't a cheap lunch place. The food is high quality, the buns are great, but you're paying for it. A burger, fries, and a drink will run you upwards of $12, so lunch for me is usually $15 with tip.
