Came here with some highly regarded recommendations from others about the enormity and the deliciousness of the burgers. Even with high expectations, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, from the good location, to the customer service, to the atmosphere, to the food. One of the coolest things about this place is the variety of burgers that you can choose from. From my table alone, we were able to amass the chicken burger, the California Avocado burger, the BBQ Bacon burger, a burger without the buns (though I think gluten-free options were available), and, of course, the classic Famous burger, the burger that got them famous. Being a traditionalist, I went for the classic Famous Burger, since it contained a whopping two 1/3 pound patties with a fried egg on top! Definitely one of the better burgers I've had here in the Detroit area. The meat was juicy and succulent, cooked to the perfect medium that I requested and packed with the solid beefy flavor that we all love so much. The fried egg was a nice touch for different texture and flavor. And the proportions of lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles were just perfect. The bun was also epicly fresh and delicious, marked with the Famous Hamburger logo on top for extra flair. The waffle fries that came on the side are a must have. Friends of mine got the sweet potato fries, which are really solid, but they season the waffle fries to have an awesome punch of flavor to it. Definitely brought the whole dish together. Overall, extremely satisfied with the restaurant experience. The staff was accommodating (they went out of their way to fit a party of 7 in a booth and also take a picture for us without us even asking), the place was clean and laid back, and of course the food was bonkers delicious. The restaurant itself is well maintained and nicely designed. Staff is mostly "meh". I asked for extra ketchup, so she gave me 2 packets. Total. That's not extra. Both employees I dealt with over the 2 days seemed to hate me, although I'd never been in there or met them previously, so they obviously just hate their jobs. The second day I tried to "special sauce" on the burger, but it's not something I would care to eat again. Great service, great food and great shakes. Upon walking in I noticed this place was very clean even with all the snow on the ground, they definetly are proactive about staying clean. The food is excellent. I had the salmon burger,which was very filling. This burger was not to dry and was topped with a great unique mayo. The Kale Salad was one of the best I've had period it was very filling and had great dressing. I'd get it again in a heartbeat. The onion rings are the best I've had in a long time they are fried to perfection and I like the fact that the onion and the batter don't separate when you bite them, excellent for dipping. This is an interesting hamburger chain. They brand their logo on the bun. Nobody else does that. That alone makes them unique. However, they have great tasting burgers. They are juicy and nicely seasoned. My wife and I both had the barbecue bacon burgers. The barbecue sauce was a sweet and tangy sauce which nicely complemented the burger. The onion rings topping the burger weren't cut overly thick like some places tend to do. They were just the right thickness to complement the burger. The pleasant surprise for me was that the bacon was beef, not pork; so, I could eat it. Usually, I can't eat bacon, because I am allergic to pork. Unlike turkey bacon which can be like eating something that is a cross between meat and plastic, the beef bacon was tender, thick and full of flavor. The french fried were cut just the right thickness to be crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. They were also nicely seasoned The only problem was the Cole slaw. Some places just should not make Cole slaw. While I could not eat the Cole Slaw due to my lactose intolerance, I wife could. She found it to be unpleasant. The Cole slaw had a really thick mayonnaise which was too thick. It covered up the flavors of all of the other ingredients. All she could taste was the mayonnaise. Then, instead of grating the cabbage, the cabbage was shredded. This resulted in the cabbage being in pieces which were too thick and large. It resulted in her having to chew it for a really long time. So, my advice is to come for the burgers and fries. Give the Cole slaw back to them. read more

I really wanted to love this place because it's wild halal and the pictures of the burgers from other reviewers were A1. But alas, I am left still looking for the best burger in Detroit. I ordered the Juicy Lucy, which is a 2/3 lb. burger stuffed with american cheese that when spread apart, the cheese oozes like the lava from Mt. Vesuvius. I will put a picture up of that moment and it left me bereft of the hot, cheesy goo I was expecting to flow out of the burger like the rivers of Babylon. And another thing that sorely disappointed me is that the Juicy Lucy is already precooked to medium. So if you want a medium rare like I did, you're out of luck. Unfortunately, the burger was dry (which is why I order med. rare) and almost felt like I was eating meatloaf. I wish the patty was a little juicier and the cheese a little more melty. My brother ordered the habanero chicken sandwich, of which I took a few bites. Not much to write home about, just a lightly seasoned grilled chicken breast with the addition of habanero jack cheese and jalapenos. The garlic sauce that came with it was one of the least garlicky garlic sauces I've ever had before, if that makes sense... I like the garlic sauce that lingers with you, as if you had a fresh clove in your mouth like hard candy. Waffle fries and onion rings were standard. Overall, there can be some improvement in the seasoning and construction of their burgers. I am almost positive if they cooked their Juicy Lucys to medium rare, it would have tasted so much better. But that was not an option. Would I drive 30 minutes to Dearborn for this burger again? Probably not but I think with some tweaks it could get to that level. read more

Famous Hamburger in West Dearborn has been a fave of mine since I moved to metro Detroit almost exactly one year ago. Not only do they offer two different veggie burgers (black bean and falafel), but they also serve gluten-free buns. Score. My friend invited me to a meet-up there last week, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. As always, the food was amazing (I got veggie nachos, the black bean burger on gluten-free + sweet potato fries and ranch), and the service was incredible. Our server was so sweet and we got to chat with the owner, too. I can't recommend Famous to you more. I always leave here full, and there are plenty of options for even the pickiest of eaters. The service was as usually very good for Famous, the waitress was very good with suggestions. Was nice for once not to ask for their recommendations. Overall the famous signature burger still the best, didn't really like their pumpkin milkshake. Down the road is Good burger the quality is just a little bit more tasty with their different burger combinations, but there u order at the counter and give u a number were you choose your table and the bring it over. Have been to all 3 locations; original Dearborn location, Canton, and now that I work near by I often go to this Dearborn location on Michigan avenue. Every time I go, the host is super quick to get us a table and the waitress is literally seconds behind. So the service is definitely quick and always polite. Often walking around asking if everything is good and will get you an extra sauce or napkins without hesitation. I like that about them. The food has always been the bigger bonus. The burgers are large and get the logo irons onto the buns, which is a cool little thing. My go to burgers are the habanero burger as well as the habanero chicken sandwich. They always come out perfectly cooked and taste great. The side is the tough one, which to get. Between their curly fires, waffle fries, or normal home fries. All 3 are good and I try to switch it up every time. So I recommend eating here. I know I'll be back there soon. read more
