I was driving by when I saw the sign, cheese steaks. I immediately looked it up on Yelp. 3 stars? Come on! I had to try it. I came back a day later to find an empty restaurant. Hum... it was later in the day and school was out. Anyway, the girl with the arm tattoo was very nice and quickly came over to take my order. I ordered the large original. An 18 inch monster of a cheese steak sangawich. I thought, that should be enough for two people. The order came out and holy carp, that's a great big sangawich. I rushed home with it. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this mombo. I cut it up for the two of us and had plenty for a 3rd person or lunch tomorrow. The flavor was as good as my favorite cheese steak place in another city in the U.S. It was full of meat and cheese and onions. I should have taken a picture. Too late. I really can't wait to give a local restaurant a good review, but this won't be the time. No "hello" upon entry, no "how is the food" after bringing us the food and no "thank you" upon exiting. Were we not worthy? Hardly anyone eating there at noon, we got behind a single man ordering 1 grinder, but asking 30 questions. Can't understand the menu, fellow? Food is expensive, not great, fried onions were about half way to be considered fried. If these are the original owners, where are the pickles and the original Philadelphia ambiance, the old place had? I got the regular size Philly cheese steak with onions and peppers as well as a side of onion rings. The food was tasty and the employees were super sweet but the prices were remarkably high. I paid $25 (before tip) which I would be okay with if the amount of food turned into 2 meals (like having leftovers) but it was only enough for 1 meal. That just seems crazy high to me. For that reason I won't be returning to this place but I'd recommend anyone to at least try it once, if your finances are doing okay. read more

Not sure where to start but I feel completely ripped off. $70 for 2 cheesesteaks & 2 kids meals. The kids Mac n cheese was a 2oz cup of cold kraft noodles for $8. My cheesesteak was ice cold in the center. If the steak was just off the griddle it would be much too hot to eat. The fries were cold and the cheese wiz looked like it was 4 days old. The color of the cheese was orange not yellow. I remember when this place was legit when it was over on Nova in New Smyrna Beach on US1. Not impressed. Three visits each with a major mistake. Last straw was a few weeks ago when they completely forgot my order. Brought out my friends cheesesteak and he waited a bit. After about ten minutes the owner asked me where my cheesesteak was, really? After they figured out they messed up, they asked if I still wanted my sub. Really? They should asked that first as opposed to wasting even more time trying to figure out where they screwed up. This new location was/is their attempt to franchise this concept. I do this every time I see "cheesesteak" advertised anywhere. If it says green peppers in their cheesesteaks I walk out immediately! No one from Philly has green peppers in their cheesesteak.....I mean NO ONE! Ok, back to the review. I recently saw a post on facebook asking for a recommendation for a great cheesesteak and a couple of the comments mentioned Famous Philly's. Since they're located right here where I live, I made it a point to give it a try as soon as possible! I placed the order online to be picked up. The food was ready on time and the folks inside seemed super cool. I ordered a regular Philly Cheesesteak and a cold Italian sub. I brought them home and of course, tried the cheesesteak first since it's a hot sandwich. Definitely better than anything else I've had in this part of Florida. I can't say it was super spectacular, but that's not saying it was bad. It was excellent, but just seemed to lack something to put it over the top. I will most definitely return to try a different kind, perhaps with onions, peppers, etc. Later on, when my appetite reemerged, I unwrapped the Italian sub. It was better than I thought it would be, but still seemed to lack something. Perhaps oil & vinegar. Same story as the cheesesteak. Not bad, but not super spectacular either. Probably one of the best, if not THE best Philly in the area. I pride myself on knowing what a really good Philly should taste like. After all, I have made the almost 1,000 mile pilgrimage from Daytona Beach to Philadelphia, the birthplace of the Famous Philly sandwich. My vote, which I know you're dying to read , was for the crème de la crème of Philly's- Pat's "The King" of Steaks. He I'd was a close second, but the cheese was a little too much and the steak seemed processed, but I digress. Famous Philly's nailed it for me though! They had me when I unwrapped the foil wrapper and hot steam burst out and the smell of grilled onions and glorious melted cheese and perfectly seasoned steak wafted into the air. The bread, which is a crucial part of the whole experience was exquisitely soft and fluffy on the inside and had a nice crumby outside. Perfect! The reason I chose four stars and not five, was because they wrapped the tin foil a little too tightly. My sandwich was too squished. Be gentle with your Philly, guys. People want to unwrap and take in the beauty of your Philly's, not just eat it. Great job cranking those Philly's out, despite the COVID-19 confinement's- and that folks, is all she wrote! read more
