Recently I had a quick work trip to Daytona and had to stop at one of my favorite wing spots, Houligan's. I always go for the Wally Wings. They're fried, tossed in sauce, then finished on the grill to caramelize the flavor. This time I had the Hot Garlic and Cajun. Both brought great flavor with the perfect level of heat and made for some really good wings. I also grabbed a basket of seasoned fries, the perfect companion. Fresh, crispy, and the seasoning really makes these fries. Houligan's has a great sports bar vibe and is the perfect spot to grab a cold one and some solid food. Easy place for a group to go and watch a game or chill out post race. Plenty of seats and TVs, indoor and outdoor seating. Houligan's is a sports bar that sounds Irish but doesn't really have many Irish dishes or beers. I didn't find thing like Shepherd's Pie on the menu. No Smithwicks or Harp on tap. They do carry some offerings from local breweries though. I would classify them as chain sports bar. Service was good and the restaurant was clean. Our group of 12 was seated quickly on a Wednesday night. Fried Buffalo Cauliflower - These came out looking like chicken nuggets but inside they were cauliflower with some buffalo flair. Not bad. Loaded Potato Skins - This appetizer has six loaded skins and they were full of cheese, mound covered with bacon and a touch of green onion. The outside of the potato was crisp. This dish had no surprises, it was as you would hope loaded skins would be. Wally Wings & Fries - My order was the 10 wings and fries plate. Wally Wings are their bone-in grilled wings. They were grilled well and decent sized, but didn't have any special flavor. For plain grilled wings I usually hope for some secret season or smokiness but this wing didn't have any that. For sauces I went with sweet chili and hot garlic. I like sweet chili better which is like an asian sweet and sour. The hot garlic was a little off. It didn't have enough buffalo flavor and then the garlic was there but didn't stand out. I wouldn't recommend the hot garlic dipping sauce. As for the wings overall they are fine if you are craving wings, but there are places in the city that do it better. Houligan's is right by the Daytona Speedway and the Daytona Airport so it is in an easy access area. read more

Here I did a pick up and the staff that works that section was very attentive. As soon as I arrived someone came out to get insight on my order and told me the wait time. We waited a bit but not so long since it was a Friday evening and a busy time in the city. The food was fresh and yummy I did wings here as well as a Caesar side salad. After picking up my son at DAB we decided to grab a bite to eat before heading back home. We are familiar with Houligan's but have never eaten at this location, the restaurant was fairly busy at 7:00 PM on this Friday when we arrived but we were able to get seated without a wait which was good being he had traveled all day to get here. Our server arrived and greeted us, it was immediately obvious to all of us the service was going to be outstanding, she gave us the menus and took our drink orders and returned in just a few minutes to take our food order. We decided on the spicy fried shrimp appetizer and substituted ranch dressing for the blue cheese dressing - this was a great appetizer, the shrimp were large, battered, fried crispy and tossed in hot sauce per our request over the mild sauce offered on the menu, this could probably be enough of a meal for one easily. We all decided on our own wings and fries Entrée, all Wally Style, and all flats I think that comes with a one dollar up-charge. Each order comes with ten wings we decided on Cajun, Hot and Medium they were all delicious as were the fries that arrived from the kitchen still warm. We really enjoyed our meals and the service was as exceptional as we expected it would be after getting seated. I was staying at the Hampton Inn next door and Houligan's was a convenient way to get a beer, some grub, and catch a game. And, I got to do all those things. The place is touristy and huge. There is an outside bar, inside bar, and tables. Plenty of room for a group. Plenty of TVs to watch games. This is a sports bar. Like if you opened an encyclopedia there would be a picture of this place. For those under 30 YELPers, an encyclopedia is like Google in book form and much heavier. The service was great and the bartender knew a few of the guys sitting at the bar which made me think they were regulars. The beer was wet, I got an amber Ale which was ordinary. I asked about the wings, if they were Buffalo wings, but the bartenders response told me I would be disappointed if I ordered wings. So I ordered the meatloaf, and it was quite average. I am a big fan of this location and my boyfriend and I keep it in our rotation when we go out. I love the vibe of this place it's just chill and you sit in cute little booths and there's tvs in every booth. Waitress was nice enough and we got our usual. I got a chicken quesadilla and he got this chicken with pineapple on it. It was Monday so it was buy 6 wings get 6 free so we got hot wings and let me say their wings are some of the best I've had. The food was on point! We ordered cheese burgers and fries, they were perfectly cooked to order! We sat near the bar so the bar tender was also serving us, she was awesome, super nice asked all the right questions for order and checked on us through the meal. The tables are all set up with personal TV's that can be set to watch what you like very cool add so you didn't have to contort to watch a random tv around the room. Several of us had lunch here pre "Ian". Had not eaten at one in literally years. Everything was as I remembered, tasty! We had 1 reuben, 1 turkey, 1 chicken philly and one beef philly (me). While on a business trip we were looking for something simple for lunch. Houligan's was the perfect choice. A nice diverse menu with salads, sandwiches, pasta's and steaks. I wish I lived closer as I'll bet this place is great on game day. Each booth has its own TV and there were more than I could count on the walls broadcasting all the sports channels. Came in for dinner. Staying at one of the nearby hotels so was easy enough to just walk over. Was seared and my server Liv was right there quickly. Very nice, smiling, and attentive. Had a Philly cheese steak and fries. Came out hot and fresh. Liv apologized for the wait, however I felt like I didn't wait that long. Beer was cold and a very reasonable price. Only complaint and it's not really a big deal was the ketchup bottle was almost empty. Again, not a deal breaker. May go back again before leaving the area. All I can say is ask for Gerry, great service! Great restaurant located by the Daytona speedway. We were in Daytona for a rock festival and came here 3 days in a row for lunch. Gerry remembered our drinks and what we ordered each day and was an amazing and attentive server. Food is excellent. I had the chicken breast with bbq sauce and bacon and mashed potatoes. Good portion sizes. My friends had the Buffalo shrimp and Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Open daily 11am to 10pm except Sunday it closes at 9pm. Wow, Great Buffalo Wings. We took a chance and went here today even though it was mobbed due to the Daytona 500. We got a table as soon as we walked in and the staff was very friendly. Our server was Emily and she could not have been nicer even after several days of Daytona 500 crowds. She said they have been extremely busy and due to the rain delay the crowds just kept coming back. We ordered 10 Buffalo Hot and 10 garlic parmesan wings with blue cheese. The hot wings were mild compared to true Buffalo hot wings. They came out hot and crispy just the way we like them. Our waiter, Emily, Checked in on us several times and refilled our drinks when they were getting low. We're from Buffalo NY so we are pretty picky with our wings and these were right up there with true Buffalo wings. We were also surprised that it was not super noisy in the restaurant even though they were full. We find a lot of restaurants so noisy that you can hardly talk. This was the second Houligan's I have tried in Daytona. It is a large restaurant/sports bar with indoor & outdoor patio seating right on International Speedway Blvd. We arrived on a Friday night during March (Spring Break & Bike Week,). The hostess said we might have to wait for an indoor table, but since the outdoor area looked kind of boring; we opted for indoors. (It was chilly out, but there were heaters on the patio.). The hostess was able to seat us at an inside booth in less than 5 minutes...so we were happy, as well as hungry! They have a full bar & lots of beers to choose from. My husband ordered a Guinness draft & I was pleasantly surprised that they had my fav. beer, Bud Light Lime! We also ordered an app. since there were lots to choose from. We decided on the fried veggie basket which came with onion rings, fried green beans, and fried mushrooms. It was a really large portion, and all 3 kinds of fried veggies were hot, fresh, and yummy! It also came with 2 dipping sauces: a horseradish and a ranch. For our dinners I had a grilled chicken pecan salad. It was reasonably priced at around $12 and it was a really large portion. (I took half home for lunch the next day.). It was also very good. My husband had the Yeungling battered fish & chips, also about $12. He said the fish was flaky and quite good; but the fries, which were supposed to be seasoned, were just so-so. The service was decent, and we liked that there were big TVs all around, plus a personal tv in our booth. (There were no games on that we were particularly interested in watching; but it would be a great place to come to during football season or even March Madness!). Mya at the bar crushed it and made great suggestions. The draft beer was delicious. The Ruben sandwich with seasoned fries was superb. My father got the combo ribs and wings meal. Which if it wasn't for Mya I would not have even known it was an option. ***NOTE*** Ask about Wally's Wet you will not be disappointed. It's where the wings are fried dipped in the sauce of choice... Placed on the grill for a minute and dipped in the sauce a second time. Personally I got the Teriyaki Garlic which was exceptional. The meat on the wings and ribs fell off the bone. I'll give it a 3.5. Chill, but lively atmosphere during Sunday football game time. The fish parts of my fish & chip entree was a bit bland. The drink I had was tough to take down because the bartender had a heavy pour. Either that or he/she was taking a few sips of their own libations during the work day. I'm not complaining though, because who doesn't love a strong alcoholic drink! Lol I will say the wings were pretty good. Stopped in here for dinner with the family. The atmosphere was nice, waitstaff perfect and some good local beers were available. My wife and I had the wally wings since that is what we were told were really good. Once we received the wings they looked undercooked. Well not crispy or did they look grilled. My wife couldn't eat hers, I ate mine but probably they were not as good as we were told not well not really good at all. The season fries were awesome.
