We had a delicious & beautiful brunch for my father in law's "95" Birthday today! The wait staff could not have been nicer. Our food & service was outstanding! Even unexpected freshly squeezed OJ! When the manager Susan heard it was his 95th birthday she said that his meal was on the house. WOW! Then, when we asked for the bill the whole brunch was on the house!!!!! Who does that??? They greet you nicely and have a very slick web based system that shows where you are in line and total time you have waited. Sounds good so far right? Not so fast...there were 7 or 8 empty tables when we were seated and this is after waiting 30 minutes for a table. There is still a line of people waiting to be seated and currently 11 empty tables. This is a sign of a totally inefficient kitchen crew or front of the house manager, or both. Food: breakfast items were amazing. OJ was fresh squeezed and super delicious. Ruben was tasty but almost inedible because the corned beef was way too thick. Still a good place to go. Thanks for the note Jason, this was from today but this isn't the first time this has happened. I understand how difficult it is to keep a reliable staff but it makes it less likely for anyone that noticed this to come back again. People love brunch and Famous Toastery is a local chain serving up brunch daily. This Tega Cay location is always busy. Of course I've only been on the weekend which is their busiest days, I imagine. We've had anywhere between a 15 and 45 minute wait when we've gone. There's a small waiting area and they do put coffee outside while you wait. Staff always seems friendly. It's the type of place where everyone is your server so you can grab anyone if you need something. Even with this concept, sometimes it's hard to catch someone. Be sure to ask for the complimentary corn bread and jam. Sometimes the server brings it automatically and others you have to ask. It is delicious. As far as the menu goes, there's your typical breakfast items: breakfast plates, omelettes, eggs Benedict, pancakes and french toast. They also have salads, sandwiches, wraps and burgers if you're in the mood for that. There's also daily specials and of course drinks. I'm a fan of the food and that's why I keep on coming back and there's healthy options too. Some of my favorites are the crab cake Benedict or hash. Those potatoes are out of this world! My husband loves the peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast and my best friend loves the huevos rancheros. When it first opened, food seemed to come out pretty fast. Over the last year, it's been slower. On my most recent trip, it was about 30 minutes to get our food. And once mine came out, it was the wrong quiche. I ordered the spinach one and got the sausage one instead. It was a quick fix. A manager came over to apologize. She explained there were new cooks and the kitchen was backed up. She also took 50 percent off our bill which was super nice. I appreciated the explanation and understand things happen. The rest of the service was fine. Hopefully the kitchen will get back in their groove and get the food moving out quicker. April 8 Went to Toast at around 9:45 this morning waiting for a tire to be changed at discount tire next door. Asked to be seated at the bar as there were two seats available. I was asked to sit elsewhere with no explanation. I didn't want to make a fuss so I agreed. Not 15 minutes later, two ladies are sat at the bar by the same girl that asked me to NOT sit at the bar. Then I wasn't even seen or checked on for 20 minutes. Very poor experience. Bar is 1st come 1st serve every time I've been there. Will not be returning. read more

They've lost the original magic. We live in Cornelius, NC, about 5 minutes from the original store in Davidson. Toast was originally one of our favorite places for Sunday brunch when the opened years ago. Apparently it was the favorite of a lot of other people and it quickly out grew the tiny space it occupied on Main Street but they never moved out. Consequently service at this location suffered. To compensate, they started to open other stores throughout the area. This one in Tega Cay is one of the more recent additions. Decided to give it a try since we were in the area yesterday and unfortunately it proved to be a disappontment. To start with, we were shuttled to the covered patio after being told that we would have to wait if we wanted inside. We reluctantly agreed and walked by four tables ready to go as we were escorted to our table which fortunately was next to the fireplace. (Remember this is February). While they were prompt in taking our order and food came out fairly promptly, after that we never saw our server again and had to flag down other servers to get coffee refills and in the end, our check. My wife said her wrap was OK but my meatload sandwich was very bland with no flavor and the potatoe salad side was so undercooked, the potatoes had a crunch and a raw taste to them. Service was lacking and the food quality was not there. That said, this is not an indictment of the whole chain. The Toast is Dilworth is still run by one of the founders and they have managed to hold onto the qualities that drew us to Toast in the first place. Hopefully, some of the other expansion locations have manged to hold onto the original princlples and have grown. read more

We decided to go check this place out on a Sunday morning and got there around 9:00 a.m. There was not a wait, but by the time we left, there was a line out the door. Service was quick, but I'm not sure how I like the random servers flocking to tables once someone needs to order, refill, etc. It is almost too much. Kevin ordered the quiche special - cheese, broccoli, bacon, and tomatoes. It was good, but we both felt we have had better. The broccoli was flavorful though, I did like that. I ordered the apple cinnamon flapjacks. They were okay, the flavor was kind of bland. I still liked the sweet flavor the pancakes had, but I was really expecting a big kick with apples and cinnamon. Unfortunately it was not there for either flavor, it was just a small hint. I also thought there might be chunks of apples in the pancakes, but they failed on that part. Don't just do a flavoring Toast Café, actually have apples in the pancakes! I will say, it makes it to three stars because they have an excellent value. It was a lot of food, in fact neither of us finished. I didn't even come close, I think one pancake with one sausage would have been enough, but instead there were three large pancakes with two sausages. Really yummy breakfast, not so great service. We ordered several items, Benedict's, a waffle, pancakes... everything was delicious. Honestly the breakfast potato's may be some of the best. Unfortunately the service struggled. We waited for about thirty minutes to be seated (which is totally worth it for a bangin brunch) meanwhile the restaurant was less than half full with seated guests. There may have been a staffing challenge - although it wasn't clear as there were several employees available at any given time. Maybe a shortage in the kitchen? It took several minutes to get menus once we were seated followed by around ten minutes to place drink orders. We chose to order everything all at once not feeling confident they would come back for our food order timely. I ordered their corned beef hash. When the waiter asked what kind of toast I wanted, I asked if I could have grits instead. No problem he said. What he didn't say was that he was going to charge me $4.50 for the grits! Wait staff need to be trained to alert customers if there's going to be an extra charge. We needed some brunch before we hit the road back to Virginia and this was a recommended restaurant by a local. I had the combo breakfast and my husband had a veggie omelette and a pancake. The food came out fairly quickly and everything was hot! They bring out warm syrup which is a nice touch, but since it thins it out it runs all over your plate. I like syrup on my eggs so it wasn't a big deal, but could be for some. Since I wasn't driving I decided to try a rumosa (mimosa with rum). It was pretty good, but I could have done without the pulp. I got the avocado toast and asked to sub out the fruit for veggies, not only was I left hungry after eating but the waitress did not tell us that the veggies were an up charge. My boyfriend got the shrimp and grits and they were super soupy and were as he stated "flavorless". We had to ask for water, which I believe should be provided before your food arrives at the table. We recently visited on a Sunday when it wasn't busy. There were several staff but we barley sat down and had 3 people ask us to take the order. I ordered the quiche and my husband ordered the breakfast bowl. Once we received our food, nobody checked on us or our food. My quiche was raw dough, not a crust but mushy wet goo texture. The best part of a quiche is the crust. The egg part looked cooked on top but the inside was almost runny. I sat through the entire meal with nobody asking how our food was or coming to get us more drinks. When I waved the guy down that put our bill on the table prior to our food arriving, he acted annoyed. I told him the problem and he said that it sounded okay to him. I had to explain that it wasn't edible and undercooked. He acted annoyed but did not offer another option. I told him he could go ahead and take the plate, then I had to ask to take it off the bill. My husband and I were able to dine in recently at the Tega Cay location. All staff were wearing masks and social distancing. Given current circumstances and adjustments, service was excellent. My husband had the biscuits and gravy while I had French toast. We both shared fresh fruit and breakfast potatoes. Everything was delicious! My only concern is the large portions. Not being prepared for the generous servings I ended up barely making a dent in my meal and breakfast food is just not something I would typically take as leftovers. We were here for a late breakfast. I usually get the breakfast bowl, but I told myself I'd try new items whenever I go out to eat. Our server was great. They all help out, I believe they pull tips. So everyone is your server. I forget the one server we mainly spoke to. But she was super fun and knowledgeable. Anyways their mimosas ARE THE BEST. And the meal I chose was the rueben, the servers go to. But our server recommended substituting turkey. And it was amazing. I also got Mac and cheese as my side. It was super creamy and great. Never been here before. First time was this morning. The food was alright but the service was awesome. I got the regular French toast combo with sausage and eggs, while my boyfriend got "stuffed" blueberry French toast with bacon. We've been to places that have stuffed French blueberry before and this wasn't what we expect, it basically was blueberry jam on regular French toast. That was the most disappointing. Every once in a while, I enjoy a nice, relaxing breakfast from this restaurant. I typically order a western omelet and it always hit the spot. The side of breakfast potatoes are absolutely amazing as they have so much flavor and come in a decent portion. The toast is always a nice finish to each meal especially if you throw some jam on it. Famous toastery is one of my few favorite spots for breakfast here in Charlotte. For breakfast when out and about i will normally grab a mimosa. Here they have something called rumosa, which is a mango rum,fresh squeezed orange juice, and their house champange. It is sooooooo good! The service here is very consistent, my normal day is Sunday to eat the lobster eggs Benedict. I stopped going for a while since they stopped serving it. The drinks are always perfect with the right balance of alcohol. The new Spear drink is great and has turned into my favorite.
