I recently visited my local First Watch restaurant for the first time. Mother and I just came from her hair appointment and were hungry for some brunch. First Watch was a place I hadn't been to yet so we gave it a try. We arrived around noon but it was barely half full at that time. We were seated quickly but unfortunately we sat there for quite a while before a waitress finally showed up. Seating was good. Lots of half booth/table and chairs. On to the food! We ordered the million dollar bacon to go with our french toast with a berry compote and the biscuits with turkey sausage gravy and eggs. The bacon was amazing! Sweet with a bit of spice to it. My challah bread french toast was good but not as custardy as I'm used to with french toast. The berry compote was great with it. We were given a warm bottle of syrup to use which I love but I wish the bottle was clean before being put in front of me. There was a buttery smug probably from the last users. Mom's eggs and biscuit was great according to her. Food was ten outta ten but the service was slow to non-existent. If it had been a full house I shudder to think how long a wait you may get for service but then again it might have been a fluke. Either way the food was delicious. read more

The good, Tyla, our server was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable about the extensive menu choices! The bad were over easy eggs were hard cooked. In an eatery specializing in breakfast improperly cooked eggs are puzzling. And the ugly, this was our third visit in the last 6 weeks AND the eggs were cooked improperly each visit! We love the imaginative menu but if you cook staff can't get the easy part right you may be in the wrong business. PS: I ate the hard cooked eggs the first two visits but three strikes and you're out! PSS: the runner that delivered our breakfast apologized & admitted this happens "all the time"! When we got there is was very busy. The wait time was 30 minutes and although it was long it was worth the wait. The food looked and tasted amazing. I go the smoked salmon frittata with the salad. I also got the biscuit with gravy. The biscuit with gravy was amazing. Two square biscuits crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The gravy was delicious and went well with the biscuits. The frittata was amazing with the tomato giving a slight sweetness. The salad was light and the dressing was flavorful. The bread was like an afterthought, only meant to cleanse the palate so that you could separate the salad and the frittata. As for the wait staff, the waitress would constantly interrupt our conversation to either push the food along or to see if we needed anything. Very abrupt but not to the point of being rude. At least to me, but there was a lot of side glances from others in our table. Overall I would only go for the food and ask for another waitress. read more

I stopped by First Watch for breakfast and had a great experience. The food was fresh and delicious--we tried the hash, the waffle breakfast with bacon, and the egg white omelet, and everything was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax. I also tried the new pineapple drink, which was super refreshing and tasty--definitely recommend giving it a try! Got a ham and Gruyère omelet and it was literally just low quality sandwich meat on the inside and melted sandwich cheese on the outside... also, the potatoes seem like they're cooked from frozen diced potatoes... mushy and not well seasoned. Also, the butter on the toast isn't real butter, but that's minor. Good atmosphere. Expected a lotttt better from First Watch. Don't think I'll come back. read more

Arrived was seated. Table was dirty had sticky food at top edge. Waited 15-20 mins until I finally flagged down manager or assist mgr? We told him no one had been to our table and how long we had been there. He looked around and said he would take the order. Note: Restaurant was only half full. (Brandon was off today-we always ask for his area) food came, no butter,no syrup for pancakes. We drank all the water and got no refill on water container. Had to ask young lady sweeping floor to get us a to go container so I could take my left over pancakes home to eat with syrup I had at home.. We never got ticket, told young guy at register what we had. Shame on you, this is our hard earned money that we worked for to come eat at your restaurant. Won't be back for long while. This place has TANKED so BADLY in the past few months. From an RUDE MALE HOST, HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM GILLIAN and COLD AND WRONG FOOD! Ive been coming here for 5 plus years, have had great service from Gene, Teresa, Morgan and Jalen. Appears new management has caused the BEST servers I've had to leave. I had the biscuit and turkey gravy breakfast with two scrambled eggs. Washed it down with a black coffee and the morning meditation drink. I was really happy with everything I had. My date ordered her meal with the million dollar potatoes, which promises a Parmesan cream, bacon and herbs. She wasn't convinced about the Parmesan cream, nor was she impressed with the herbs, which seemed to be lacking. But I thought everything tasted great, and our service was outstanding. read more

We just went to the FW in Steele creek, so this weekend we wanted to try the tega cay one again.i ordered the same item but it was Hal as good. Also half the size. No potatoes and a fruit cup. Last week I got both. My husband was missing his black beans with his tacos and they never brought out drink. We were charged for it but it never came. I like this place as it seems to seat you faster but maybe the are overworking the staff. I heard someone in the kitchen yelling at the workers loud enough for the restaurant to hear the entire rant. We checked into the hostess stand and waited almost an hour and never got seated after being told initially that the wait was 15 minutes. I went in and asked about it after waiting 35 minutes. Then when we checked in again after 45 minutes we were told we ignored their text and had to go back to the bottom of the list - which we never received! I understand it was busy, but after checking in personally twice it is very frustrating to end up waiting for an hour and never actually being seated. Had the opportunity to visit First Watch for brunch while visiting Gastonia. My sister and mom were familiar with the establishment. I'm glad they suggested it. Even while crowded, we were sat very quickly. The server was awesome giving us suggestions and also was very attentive. The food is phenomenal. I had the avocado toast with a side of country ham and everything was delicious. They also offer fresh squeezed juices which is a nice touch. Can't wait to come back on my next visit. read more

This was an exceptional dining experience for my family to celebrate my 70th birthday this weekend. Breakfast is my favorite meal and First Watch served an excellent five star foodie approved meal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food down to the warmed maple syrup for the light and most delicious Belgian Waffle, crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, piping hot coffee and Kale Tonic Fresh Juice. Our server was Jalen who personified the excellence of an attentive and genuinely caring and accommodating host. I highly recommend First Watch at the Fort Mill location and I will travel from Gastonia for a refill of excellent food and service. This area needed a breakfast spot, and we got a good one! I usually drive to the one in Fort Mill, but this new location (about 1 week old by the time of my visit) is right by the Premium Outlets off 485. They have ample parking and even more dining room space. It's a well laid out venue with great lighting and an open kitchen setup. I joked with the sever that the cooks looking very happy in the kitchen, and she said "yea we just opened so everything is exciting and fun right now". I didn't have any drinks, but they had a decent assortment of adult beverages and non alcoholic fruit/lemonade concoctions. I decided on the "Parma Hash" scrambled* and it was delicious. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, the eggs were nice and fluffy. Even the toast, which you have 3 choices of : rye/white/wheat added the perfect balance with the sweet creamy butter spread on top. Service was a pleasure, everyone was kind and greeted me with a smile. Our server Zyiara was very detailed and knowledgeable, I appreciate that given they just opened that week. Pro Tip: If you ever get there on the weekend and it's packed, don't shy away from the community table. This was my first time visiting this chain. I was surprised to see most of the meals were "healthy". For example... there is no way to get regular sausage gravy. They have turkey sausage gravy. I got 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup combo for $12. The portion was very small. I asked for my sandwich without tomato, yet it had tomato. The bread was not toasted so it reminded me of making my own sandwich at home from Wonderbread. The soup of the day was broccoli cheese soup. This soup "revisited" me for hours afterward. Not sure what was in it for that to happen. I also got the watermelon pineapple juice drink. It didn't taste like either fruit. Instead it tasted slightly like tomato juice as if they poured a bit in there and it covered up the other flavors, yet there wasn't supposed to be any tomato juice in the mix. One gal got the chicken pecan salad. It did look good in appearance. However, she only ate a little of it. First time going and so excited to try it and loved the outdoor space. Our servers was great as we had our dog and they were great and offered a water bowl. The juices were on point! Had the Morning Meditation and Kale Tonic. Food we started with the Million Dollar bacon and it didn't disappoint. Then we had the Bacardi Omlet and the Hacienda Hash. This place was complete chaos on today (Friday morning) around 11am. They were packed both inside and out with a wait at the door. There were two ladies working the hostess stand and I believe that one of them was in training because she really didn't have the operation quite down yet. Because it was packed to maximum capacity and people were coming from every which way we felt it was best to order takeout. I wanted to get some lunch and asked one girl about the soup offerings and she said she didn't know. She was directed by the other hostess to go check and when she came back she informed us that it was Italian wedding soup but she didn't know what that was. Luckily I was familiar. We also inquired if they had cheddar cheese to add to a sandwich and again they were unfamiliar with the menu offerings. Anyways, placed the order and chose to wait on the bench out front. Their entry door is really loud and slams shut every time a person walks in or out but it was the only place to wait so I tried to just tune it out. It took about 20 min until the food was ready but that was expected seeing how busy they were. Luckily the food ended up being really good even though I asked for no bacon and still got it (boo!) I really enjoy coming here during the week but I don't think I'll ever be back Fri-Sunday or close to a holiday. read more

Absolutely one of my favorite brunch spots in the area. The staff is always amazing. They're friendly, attentive and super knowledgeable about their menu. I've ordered several things off their menu and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the pesto chicken quinoa bowl. But, for this particular visit we had the chicken pesto hash, which was so flavorful. Never disappointed by their meals. The Cauli-Rizo Breakfast tacos, which the hubs scarfed down and the million dollar bacon. I'm a frequent flyer with this place and will continue to be as long as they keep serving dishes like this and their staff stays as amazing as they are. read more

We continue to frequent and enjoy First Watch in Fort Mill. Good for breakfast and lunch, their menu is somewhat of a work of art. Creative twists on items. A large selection of special drinks, mostly billed as healthy tonics, but something good and different. You can go hippie here with whole wheat breads and tortillas, the healthy tonics, sweet potato enchiladas, avocado toast, varieties of granola with goodies in it, power wraps, multigrain pancakes, turkey sausage a superfood kale salad. Or...you can dig into more regular fare. Outdoor dining is available, coffee and iced tea is endless and service can get scarce with the shortage of hired help. Once you get a wait person's attention, get your order in. We like the food and atmosphere. A good choice. read more

The omelette was densely filled with sausage, onion, and cheese that came together very well. The staff was on their A-game but huge shoutout to Raven as she was an amazing waitress. Bougie Breakfast alert!!!! My sister treated us to a nice breakfast after my nibblings won awards at their school. I chose to give First Watch a try. I had heard great things about them and several friends had recommended them. The restaurant was full of people which seemed odd to me for a Thursday at 9:30am but we quickly got a seat. We ordered a variety of items. I was trying to be healthy so I got the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl, whole my family ordered the Chickichanga, the Works Omelette, the Kid's half waffle and the Million Dollar Bacon. The Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl was dry. I did ask for the eggs to be cooked hard cause I hate runny eggs but I ended up needing some kind of moisture for the dish and just drizzled some syrup over it which definitely defeated the notion of being healthy. My sister tried to ask about the way the eggs were cooked in her Chickichanga and our server must of been having a bad day cause she stated that the dish didn't have any eggs in it at all. Well the dish does and it's basically an egg wrap. There were no other complaints about the other food items we ordered. But everything was just mediocre. All in all I don't think I will be returning to First Watch. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals and I just wasn't wowed.
