Stopped in for some charred wings & sat T the bar. Bartender was pleasant, food was fast, hot & tasty!

The last few times I've been there, my food has been undercooked. Wings, grilled chicken sandwiches, burgers, salmon... all RAW and pink in the middle. They don't understand how to cook meat. Service is excellent. Please train your staff... especially the cook. read more

This location has always been a go to spot for me and my family since it opened. Haven't been for awhile,so when a buddy suggested we stop and grab a bite and get some drinks,I decided to visit. Ordered drinks and then my buddy noticed a patron at the bar with a cat on his shoulder. I thought it must be some kind of prop so I turned around to see for myself. I was surprised to see he was right. This man had a cat on his left shoulder!!!!! I asked one of the staff if this was acceptable and the gentleman said to me, "it's just a cat". He was later spotted petting the cat and then walking into the kitchen area. When our waitress returned to take our food order, I to her, I decided to eat elsewhere, paid for our drinks and left. Don't want to over react but a cat (dressed in clothing) sitting on a man's shoulder, hopping on the bar occasionally is not where I want to eat. read more

I always saw this place near my home always packed but never thought about going in. Going on Tuesday night not that many folks and boy was I surprised. I don't know why they have negative reviews. The food was great. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked, got just the right amount of char on the burger, bacon was thick but not too crispy and the onion rings were on point! Crispy breading with onions intact. It's a sports bar / tavern so of course is going to be loud and TVs everywhere but again the place was not that crowded and I sat right away. The service was very friendly and fast, and you can tell a lot about a place when they bring you a refill without you asking. I will definitely go back for sure. read more

Everything was fresh and service was fast. Restaurant manager Luis was super hospitable and kind. Our server Allison was great as well.

The service was fine but the food was not desirable. I hesitated when I saw it was empty but gave it a chance anyway.

The bartender sucks!! Literally, we waited 15 to 20 mins for a glass of wine. Same thing for the second round. It was dead! I'm in the service industry, do better!!! Her name was Macy! My family and I have been coming to this hickory tavern for a long time, but over the last 8 years or so it has been a family tradition for us to come for dinner after our Christmas even church service. This will be the last year that we do so. Although our server was super sweet and relatively attentive, after our food order was placed we only saw her once after to let us know the kitchen was slightly behind, (which to be expected on a holiday), and then again after my mother had to wave her down to ask about her salad, which still had not arrived, after my brother, my father and I had already gotten our food about 7 minutes ago. I was nearly done with my burger and fries before my mother even got her salad, which also had no protein on it so there was no reason for it to have taken that long. Our server made it very clear that she was extremely sorry for the wait, and I overheard her asking one of the managers to comp the salad due to the long wait for it. She informed us when she brought the check that she was able to have one of the MoD's comp the salad for us, but did inform us it was a second manager that she had to ask, because the first refused. I've worked in the industry for 10 years now so it takes A LOT for me to complain, let alone leave a negative review. I hope the restaurant can take this and rethink their steps of service, but I will definitely be urging my family to go somewhere else for Christmas Eve dinner next year. Merry Christmas! read more

We've been in this location a handful of times, and each time I wonder why we came back. Appearance is pretty typical of most Hickory Tavern locations, chain restaurant vibe with very little character. There is a bar area towards the back of the space, and plenty of dining area seating Service was a little slow, which was odd considering there were only a handful of people in the place. Our server was pleasant, but not terribly attentive. We didn't get food on this most recent visit, but I have had food there in the past. The food has not been terrible, just a bit bland and uninspired. They have a decent tap list for a chain place, but they were out of the first 3 beers we tried to order. I ended up with a Terrapin Luau Krunkles, and my buddy had an OMB Copper. Second time going to the tavern. First time was great, joined the fan club and got my free appetizer code. No where on the text message does it have an expiration date but make sure you don't wait two weeks like I did cause it apparently "expired". Still got the onion ring appetizer if you can call it that. There was barely anything on it. Supposed to come with a choice of sauces, we were never asked what we wanted so I guess we got the default ranch. Yuck. No plates were given to share the appetizer. Last time we both got the burgers and loved them. This time I went for the fish and chips, mother felt like the deluxe nachos. see photo, fish was small and the coating was soggy. Not crispy. Barely any fries with it. Mom liked her nachos but pulled out three chunks of what looked like remains from one of their smash burgers. Apparently this was the "chili" portion of the nachos. My soda that cost over $3 only got refilled once over the 2 hours we were there. the waitress came by the table twice when it was empty. Overall not thrilled with the food but the service was really lackluster. seemed like we were an after thought and a nuisance to her. Never asked us about getting a dessert which we were thinking about getting and just brought the check even though we wanted to split it. The worst experience! Service was extremely slow for our drinks and then again for our food orders. To make it worse, there were several mistakes with the orders which needed to be corrected. The wine was described as the worst, the wings were not flavors ordered, and drinks were not correct. Very frustrating! This is more of a message from people that care about the restaurant and the future. While menu changes are coming, why not ask your fan club a survey of what they want? For instance the pre baked chicken wings, terrible. People who want good wings are willing to wait. What happened to the baked potato? What about mashed potatoes? Crab dip? The providence location has a pizza oven that hasn't been used in years. A voice (from customers ). or suurvey from the people who actually spend money at the establishment should at the very minimum, have some input on suggestions.... whether taken or not. read more

So the place is nice and we used to go to the one inCornelius.But we ordered beer and then waited like 20-25 minutes for the waitress to come back.I knew I should have told her we were ready to order but I thought she would be right back.someone else brought the beer to us. DoorDash order. I didn't see it noted that they coat the chicken tenders in sauce. So I have to figure out how to avoid that in future because it arrived a soggy mess. But it was a delicious mess! My food was 50/50 we order nachos for appetizer the chips was so soggy that I had to ask for extra chips , my husband food was so dry that he didn't even finish it, never got refills , never got fork to eat I asked someone but he also forgot so I was just sitting there with my food getting even more cold, my husband went a grabbed some fork for us from a clean table. This was my first time here, I had the chicken wings, which are Wednesday specials at .75 each, we tried garlic Parmesan, honey bee and a hot sauce. All of the sauces were really good. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts that were very good also. I ordered a drink that tasted like I was sucking on a lemon so, it was exchanged for a different one that was purple in color (sorry I forgot the names) and it was very sweet. Our visit was to celebrate my nephew turning 21. They begrudgingly gave us a reservation as we had 8 people and needed a high chair. We were seated in the back by the kitchen and had a steady stream of servers walking by our table with dirty dishes. We placed a drink order and one of us ordered a beer. It took 25 minutes to get. It was not very busy which should have tipped us off. Our server was not very friendly and I had to explain to my 9 yr old granddaughter what was wrong with her neck. The woman had two big hickeys We had to ask 3 times for a high chair and finally had to go get one. The server never came back so we flagged her down to order an appetizer. Two of us ordered cocktails that either didn't have alcohol in them or were so watered down you couldn't taste it. Refills on beer also required flagging the server down. Those of us drinking water never got refills. Appetizer plates were not removed from the table. I alerted the server ir was a 21st birthday celebration but nothing was done to acknowledge it. no dessert no happy birthday nothing. I drive for UberEats and arrived to pick up two orders I was assigned. I walked in, spoke to girl #1 and gave her the names on the order. She said they'd be up in a few minutes so I sat down to wait. I ended up waiting over 25 minutes. Girl #1 never came back to check on me or update me about the orders and every other employee including someone who appeared to be the manager just watched me sit in the lobby for close to half an hour. One employee in particular made eye contact with me several times as she was wiping down a few tables and just walking back and forth thru the waiting area. She even made her way to the desk area to answer the phones. We'll call her girl #2. She never asked if I had been helped or which orders I was waiting for. No customer service was provided at all by these people. I finally got tired of being ignored and asked her if somebody, ANYBODY, can I find out what's going on with the orders. Just as she was about to say yes, girl #1 came back with one order in her hand and asked me if I was waiting for the order for such and such and it wasn't the two orders I was waiting for. I repeated the names of the two orders I was there to pick up only for girl #2 to say "oh that's been picked up already". I simply stared at them and asked "I'm sorry, what?" And she repeated that someone already picked them up. I then asked why didn't girl #1 say that instead of telling me that they were on the way up and have me waiting for 30 minutes here in this lobby. Then came all these excuses about oh she wasn't here when it was picked up and oh well there's a glitch in the system that sometimes does duplicate orders. And I'm like, regardless of ANY of that, someone should have come back up here to check on me and more importantly girl #1 should have figured out that the order was picked up when she went to the back to tell them the delivery person arrived for the orders. Then girl #1 says she gave my name to the to go server. I looked them both dead in the eyes and confirmed that nobody has helped me since I first got here. They wasted soooo much of my time for orders that were already gone and took no accountability for their poor customer service. Now I'm looking at the reviews and see that I'm not alone with having a terrible customer service experience at this establishment. Ehhh Hickory Tavern was disappointing last night. I raved about them just last week but this week wasn't good. I ordered a strawberry lemon drop martini. It tasted so NOT like a strawberry lemon drop martini that I thought they gave me the wrong drink. It was watered down and tasted like a low quality lemon sports drink. I ended up ordering a strawberry margarita and that was a little better. Now, I know Hickory Tavern is not known for pasta lol. But I decided to get the chicken Parmesan. One of the best chicken Parmesan meals I've ever had was from a bar so I took a chance.....Let me start with the good. The chicken was fried to perfection!!!! HOWEVER it was not seasoned at all. No salt, no pepper no nothing. The noodles were cooked really well but some of them were really cold. The sauce had zero flavor and there wasn't enough cheese! The meal literally tasted like hospital food. But on a good note, their lemon pepper wings were really good! If this was my first time here I would have given them one star but since I've been here before, I know they have a banging Philly cheesesteak, great lemon pepper wings and really good mules, I decided to give them 3 stars. read more

Talking to her in a way that was very unpleasant for me as a paying customer when she didn't deserve it when she was doing her job at a great level. Where do I begin. They were out of every beer we asked for. They didn't have bitters for an old fashioned. The worst so called whiskey sour I ever had. Told them the whiskey sour is not good, they took it away but never removed it from the bill. Had the manager come and he said NC regulations wouldn't allow him to remove it from the bill. Asked for the horrible whiskey sour back and he said " we threw it out". He did after some pressing, figure a way to make a change on the bill but that was horrible. Now to the food, worst wings I've ever had. The burgers were good, tater tots were not good, pow shrimp were ok. The spinach and artichoke dip was not good. The cod taco was not good.
