I've been to this place many times and somehow have missed writing a review. I meet up with a group of EAL Retirees on a monthly basis and this is the chosen location as it seems it's a easy access for most and has a menu with good selection and affordable. They reserve a room for us and we have maybe 20 or so who join. We seem to have the same hostess, Kristin, who takes good care of us and always with a smile and kind word. Today, I had the broiled founder with the jumbo shrimp all over a bed of white rice and comes with two sides so I got the lima beans and a side salad. All so fresh and good, there is not a lot of seasoning but it's the healthy choice and it hit the spot for what I was wanting. read more

So I saw they got a re- inspection from the health department. I can only say it's good to see the numbers so quickly fixed. They have good food and great service so I can only attribute this to the owner making the workers serve food with no Air conditioning for several days and then as fate would have it being inspected by the Health Department. We were there one of those hot as hell nights and ate dinner without the A/C working. It was really hot. To their credit they would not open the doors because they did not want to invite flys in . We all suffered through it but clearly the workers really had it tough. Kudos to the workers. They are amazing people. I would have walked out after 2 hours . It was awful . I was highly disappointed at the lack of Customer service by not my server Mauricio was splendid! I was glad to be back in Clt because there are some favorite eateries and this is one of them till today. i went in alone during a lunch break and decided on Park Place ordered the Blt w Onion Rings delish! w a side of yummy ranch Mauricio was asked if the Baklava was any good here and he said yes so I ordered it for dessert. When it arrived i was a bit surprised it was like a slice of three layer cake big and that was surprising because baklava is often not that large ok my big back self was like yum i was still eating sandwich when it was time to dig into it i was shocked that it was so dense I could not cut it with the fork and then I tried to stab it with the fork and it would not go in i was very disappointed. i have eaten some of the most decadent flaky moist sweet baklava in so many cities like the one recently in Charleston that is orgasmic good! I asked Mauricio to please place in the microwave and heat it up to see if perhaps it would soften and i could enjoy it despite, never having to ask for one to be heated before no difference he heated it a second time at my request such a dear of a server. and still no luck i was literally with the fork stabbing it and chiseling it off to eat it no good not what baklava should remotely be like. i thought it might he frozen but no ice chips or anything frosty looking to me like that was the case. I said i don't want this im sorry, but it is too hard. I saw the server go to a grey haird older man in glasses who was actually sitting down in another area i could see him giving some rebuttal to Mauricio causing him to explain that he heated it and etc. all that went down this man then gets up and gives me the worst look from across the room which made me so irate because where in the world did you learn this in this industry as the correct way to treat a guest at your eatery that is unhappy with a menu item? i a former industry person myself was shocked no table visit just anger and he took it off the bill looked at me again no table visit ms im sorry you did not like would you like something else nothing. I stated from across the room since he kept looking at me it was hard my fork would not go through it and then he walked away shocker. i went to pay the young lady at the register she asked how was everything i stated great until the manager in charge acted like it was my fault your dessert was rock hard. said man walks over to me to tell me that he does not know where i have eaten this dessert before and i stopped him right there!!! i said former Gm here and you have yet to apologize ask me what i experienced because you decided it was my fault it was my inability to enjoy this dessert because i don't know what it should taste like! the gall was epic!! i have eaten Baklava that is Decadent, Flaky, sticky sweet and moist to the point it melts in your mouth, and a fork just glide through it = enjoyable bite and not what i had at all today! here is a bit of advice sir stop worrying about the $5-6 bucks lost on a bad dessert sent back and try to make connections with your guests dining and respect them enough to show genuine concern about perhaps a bad product moving forward you don't go out of you way to make a person feel uncomfortable! Stopped by with a co-worker for breakfast - hadn't been in ages. The place was definitely not crowded which may have been a sign. Lackluster greeting and told to sit wherever, we grabbed a booth. Waited several minutes for our server. Brought us coffee and took our orders. I had the feta and spinach omelet with a side of hash browns. Seemed a long wait for the food. Hash browns were definitely lacking salt. Flavorless. The omelet was dry and bland. Fake butter ("whipped spread") and jelly at the table. Fox News on the television. Garish Independence Day decorations still up a month past the holiday. All in all the restaurant seemed sad, for lack of a better word. Not a smiling place in the joint paired with blah food... Park Place is a solid little diner for breakfast! We were seated promptly on a Sunday morning and it took a while to see a waiter. Once we ordered, our food came out quick. The breakfast skillet was really tasty. Eggs your way over crispy hashbrowns, veggies, and cheese. What's not to like? My husband said the liver mush wasn't crispy enough so he'll probably order that extra crispy next time. Overall, good prices and good food for a family owned diner! read more

This place is absolutely filthy. The dining room looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a very long time, and the bathroom smelled horrible. One of the stalls had an "out of order" sign that looked like it had been there for years. The smell was so strong I had to walk out. The staff were standing around touching their faces and then handling food, which is unacceptable. I will never come back here. I should have known the food would be questionable from the moment I walked in the front door. I honestly feel like I need to go home and take antibiotics after being in there. To make it worse, the place was extremely hot, almost like a sauna. Overall, it was a terrible experience. Do better! This place is gross. All them little old people going to get sick. read more

I love this place. The staff are nice, the food is well priced despite the current economy, and they're quick to get you a seat even at their busiest time. The food is tasty, but i'm a creature of habit so I only order the same things - a breakfast combo platter or on the rare occasion i go for lunch - a burger. Cannot beat this 1950s style, Greek owned and operated, clean restaurant with a menu that seems to have everything. Service is great. Coffee and iced tea keeps coming. Portions are generous and substitutions are accepted as routine. On-site parking is convenient and prices continue to be very reasonable. Wife and I come by at least once a month. I love a diner! The endless options, and great ambience and service always prove comforting and enjoyable. The prices here are incredibly fair for the amount and quality of food you receive. This locally owned diner has charm and a Greek flair. I had a patty melt to satisfy a big burger craving. It was greasy and delicious with fresh and tender ground beef. The french fries were crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The fried squash was good, but could've used some more seasoning. My friend ordered the Gyro and said that it was OK, but that the quality of meat wasn't as good as she was expecting. The park place restaurant is excellent. In every way. The food is terrific. We stop over for dinner tonight and we had some of the Greek food which we had never had there. We had the chicken Slovakia platter. It was excellent. I thought I was in a Greek restaurant, we have also eaten there several times with their American food. I highly recommend this restaurant. Park Place is a consistent hit amongst me, my fiancé and friends! I've personally been here between 5-10 times in 2 years and can only say I didn't like something once. The service is attentive, fast & reliable. The atmosphere is okay, it's like any other older style cafe/diner feel. The food is delicious and fairly priced. I like that they have different options/specials every day. The only minor thing I don't like is that the receipts are not itemized! This place is definitely worth checking out though. read more

It was busy, they were short staffed... I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. The eggs Benedict, was not what arrived at the table. It was an English muffin, with overcooked ham and scrambled eggs on top... not sure what the sauce was on it but it wasn't hollandaise. The home fries were mostly burnt, but the ones that weren't, tasted like chemicals. And the icing on the cake.. while paying our bill, the cooks were eating in the kitchen, while they were cooking. I came in for take of simple order. 2 cheeseburger deluxe platers along with 2 lg orders onion rings. The platers comes with fries. Go none. Asked for them and got 10 fries in a box. Asked for no plasticware or anthing. Git a bag full. On hold to complain after trying get order fixed while there but after working just could not deal with it. On hold for 2 minutes with about 10 people in the place. Asked for manager. Never got on the phone Last time I did take out from there. They serve breakfast all day and have a delicious lunch and dinner menu. For breakfast I usually get some sort of omelet. Lately it's been the spinach and feta omelet. If it's lunch time I usually get the turkey club with fries and a side of ranch dressing. The food always comes out quickly and is fresh. The service is great with friendly staff who always remember me from my previous visits. (Probably a sign that I go there frequently.) Sunday mornings can be a beast because of Church goers. I had to fight for a parking spot yesterday. Sometimes their is a wait but it goes by fast and they get you seated at your table promptly. Park Place is great and I go there almost every weekend. Stopped in for breakfast and was glad we did. We were quickly seated and the waitress was outstanding. Very personable, quick with a smile, and attentive to our needs. Stopping by during our meal to ask if we were satisfied or needing anything...without being overbearing. Sometimes it seems as if wait staff chooses to engage just as you've stuffed some food in your mouth..not with our server. She was outstanding. What about the meal? The breakfast was delicious, but what made the breakfast above and beyond was the French toast. I'm not a cordon bleu aficionado so I'm not sure what makes one French toast "better" but than another... I just know Park Place's French toast was a step up. It has been a few years since my last visit, but everything seemed consistent with what I remembered. Everything I have ever ordered, breakfast only, is always good, but service can be hit or miss. I read new management is in place and you can definitely see some improvements, and there are definitely some regulars, whom the hostess and waitresses seem to always acknowledge. Wanted some fried fish but hadn't been here in several years, but thought I'd try again with new owners. 1- no current on line menu 2- It's not far, so drove to we to place/pick up order. Fisherman's platter @ $17.95. Jumbo shrimp, flounder,perch, deviled crab, 2 sides fried squash & fries. They were out of crab ok'd shrimp substitute. Bill came to $21.98, tax 8-8.5%. Over charge of $2.50. Got home no fries. Called girl says they don't come with fries. I said it's 1 of my 2 sides that come with it. Went back for fries. She gave dbl fries. Apologized. It wasn't till I got home that I realized I was overcharged. But now my overcharged dinner is cold and greasy & really had no flavor. Now I recall while it's been a few years since visiting this establishment. It will be many more years if I ever return. Only thing that changes are the owners. read more

Stopped in here over the weekend for the first time. Looks to be an old Shoney's restaurant that has been converted to a privately own. Kinda old and run down inside. Food was decent and priced well. Service could have been a little better. Looks like they have a bunch of regulars. I believe they also sale breakfast all day.
