I was starving and decided to get some hot dogs. When I arrived it was semi busy and no one, even workers, was wearing masks so I was a little uneasy but ate anyway. I ordered 2 dogs with fries, sourkraut, ketchup and mustard. It was very inexpensive. The service was pretty good. The hot dogs were just ok.

When you find a place that has a Ms. Pacman can it be bad? I think not and was really impressed with my new find today. What a cool surprise to check out Uncle Al's for the first time today with my daughter and discover what all the Yelp has been about for this little dog joint. You could actually drive by this establishment for 9 years and never know it's there, just ask me. Uncle Al's is in a small strip with a dry cleaners, barbershop, tan salon, Chinese joint and a couple other stores. Parking can be an issue, but usually not. The location is awesome along Shore Drive. A walk inside gives you the feeling of a small locals eatery with it's long bar and quirky sign and photos everywhere. There is also a TV for your viewing pleasure. On this day it was about checking out the hot dogs which they are known for. The waitress was immediately at our table and when we said new customers she gave us options, but ultimately said hot dogs on a first visit was a terrific idea. I got a hot dog with chili and cheese and daughter plain. We also got a root beer float to share. The float was out so quick our head was spinning and ohhh delicious. The food was out almost as quick as the float. Both of us liked the quality dogs with a slight crunch and toasty buns. The chili was really good too. I had to just shake my head that we had not tried before. A look at the menu again and I thought this could be a regular place for a while with the other selections to choose from. A quick stop to the restroom revealed a very small, but tidy facilities. An issue with the door lock was annoying. Also a few towel racks not in use under the sink need to be removed. Just picky me I know... but I like my toilet seat to fit the bowl. A toilet seat is not an expensive item to replace, get it done Al. Yes this just is a small hot dog place that should not be worthy of such praise. But when you got it, you got it! Uncle Al's has IT! Awesome service, great quality food with reasonable prices. This is a place you can cozy up and rub elbows with a suit, senior citizen, or a young kid. LOVE IT!

When I think of a hot dog, I think of all beef, crispy skin that snaps as soon as you take a bite of it. The best part of the bite is the juiciness of the hot dog. I didn't get that here, unfortunately. I ordered a hot dog with chili and sauerkraut. The hot dog was small and it tasted like the really cheap ones you buy at walmart. Maybe I didn't order the right one? I also ordered the garbage burger. Deep fried juicy chicken breast, hamburger, cheese, lettuce, onions, and tomato. The burger patty itself was super thin, so you barely tasted the burger. The fried pickles were really good. i ordered my food and received it within 5 to 7 minutes. Service was great and the prices are unbeatable. I saw that they had lots of daily specials. I wouldn't mind coming back just to try one of them. Also, they don't accept coupons from your phone.

It's one of the few old school Hot Dog Shops that still feature the iconic Norfolk Dog. The spot closes at 3pm each day. There was plenty of time to stop. The location is on Azalea Garden Road about 2 blocks north of Princess Anne Road. Don't expect a picturesque spot. This building is located in the midst of warehouses, car repair shops & such. Lew's was obviously packed with people wanting those few last days of the wonderful Norfolk Dogs. Parking was around the front & side of the shop & on the street. Even the "no parking" area was filled. We stepped directly into an earlier time. And I loved it. Seating was mainly around the counter. I would have loved to have eaten there. But we had just had donuts in Ghent. So we ordered at the cramped takeout counter, The cook, who I suspect was the owner's wife, cooked on a small grill near the front window. A young man took the orders, writing each takeout order on a paper bag for the cook. The proprietor busily did everything. He was personable & funny. He had his rules, just like his long gone competitors, We sat at the counter and talked to a customer who had driven down from Arlington. He obviously knew the place well as the owner bantered with him. When our order was ready we left, a little sad that we couldn't stay and eat. It had been so much fun. The Norfolk Dogs were wonderful. They're snap dogs, customarily served only with mustard, chili & onions. Lew's did allow other condiments added, even serving French fries. You could get thrown out of some of his former competitors for asking for catsup or potato chips. There must be a return before they close. I want to sit and eat at the counter. I want to come out with that familiar smell of onions in my hair. By the way, they're still open to selling the shop. It comes with the secret recipe for their chili sauce. Norfolk Dog lovers need this eatery to remain open. Don't let them be lost to time.

On the way home from the Yelp Event at O's Donuts, I remembered Lew's was closing this weekend. Luckily Lew's was right on our way home so we decided to stop and get orders to go. We walked in to a packed house and lots of others placing orders to go. Cash only signs were posted in several places so I was prepared when it was my turn to order and pay. Everyone was friendly and greeted each other and engaged in conversation. I felt like I had stepped back in time to a kinder, gentler place. I'm very sad that we are losing another piece of Norfolk history. The hotdogs were just as good as I remembered, as well as their French fries. One thing that caught my attention as we waited was the stools at the counter. This old Norfolk girl immediately said to my Friend, "these aren't stools, they are chairs with backs on them just like the lunch counters in Peoples Drug Store and Woolworth's when I was a kid." Loved this little walk down memory lane today. Happy retirement Lew, You will be missed.

I ordered the Sunrise Burger, subbing hot honey for the mayo and oh-mah-gawsh that was an excellent decision. (The burgers are a little on the smaller side, but I found it to be the perfect size.) I told my husband that the onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. Kyle was our server, and he was incredible--attentive despite being a little overwhelmed. It's darker on the inside because of the wood paneling, but it works for the saloon-adjacent vibe it's going for. Highly recommend!

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

I walked in on 12/3/25 with excitement and anticipation. Boujiee is a tiny place - they could easily be mistaken for a simple bar. Their interior, though, looks modern, organized and clean. Plus, it's well-lit, so it definitely doesn't have that dark look and feel of a bar. Upon entry, a server quickly greeted me and told me I could sit anywhere. She was kind and helpful, and immediately knew it was my first visit. When I confirmed that notion, she proceeded to give me a rundown of the entire menu. She didn't have to do that, but I felt like ordering everything afterwards because everything sounded amazing, haha. I settled on a soda (which they sell in bottles), a couple of bottled beers, the Dougie Fair Dog and Corned Beef Fries. Boujiee's glizzys are meals - each item on their menu is full of ingredients and toppings. Normally, I can devour 2 hot dogs in a single sitting, but at Boujiee you better be hungry to finish off 2 or more. The Dougie Fair includes spicy Polish sausage, grilled peppers, onions, melted cheddar and mustard, all on a hoagie bun. Dougie had some kick, so it wasn't super spicy, but I definitely enjoyed this item. I also had the Corned Beef Fries (crinkle fries, corned beef hash, cheddar, fried egg) which was as hearty as it was delicious. I was barely able to finish them both, but they were so good I almost had to. Based on this visit alone, Boujiee Dogs is a five-star food spot. Along with the impeccable service, this may become a part of my food spot rotation. I look forward to many future visits. Thank you, Boujiee Dogs! JV
