Chicago dog with all the fixings
    Max F.

Ordered the Chicago Dog combo. Nicely dressed with all the fixings for a Chicago dog - peppers, tomato. The dog is a bit salty. According to the owners they use Sabrette dogs which are saltier than other dogs. French fries were right out of the fryer - hot light & tasty. Came with a side of warm sauerkraut- vinegarry and satisfying If you like your salty dogs this restaurant is for you

All this for 22 dollars it was absolutely GASS!!!! Will bring my wife next time and kids

I have been wanting to try this place since they opened ! I love the idea of supporting a breed that I adore and the fact donations go to shelters. I am a huge fan of hot dogs. My boyfriend and I were in Norfolk for another reason and decided to stop and try it since they were open. This place DID NOT disappoint. The servings are generous. Bathrooms are clean with cute decor. Tables and booths to sit. Parking it a bit limited but can be found if you drive down the block. I got pittie meal with side winder fries ( omg , they were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the pittie flight and he said it was a perfect way to try the different options. The loaded tots were shared, I loved them too :) I wasn't a fan of the sauerkraut, but I'm from Pennsylvania so we cook it a bit differently. The amount of toppings is incredible, I wish I had more time to choose , I'm indecisive a lot. You also can't beat the price for the quality and they do offer a military discount. The only reason I do not give a 5 star is because I wish the space was bigger! There is so much potential and clearly they have the clientele, so I look forward to seeing how they venture in the future. We will definitely return. Also we ordered two brats to go home :) Did I mention, we LOVE pitbulls so this place was refreshing to see them in a positive light. Next time I will purchase a t-shirt :)

First time here! I'm excited for the best VEGAN hot dog ever! Yep, you read that right--they have a plant based dog!

I'm new to Pitt. I tend to go in guarded when a restaurant says they have vegan options because that usually means they have lettuce, pickles and onions. This spot was the exception. A plant based FIELD ROAST hot dog--it was EVERYTHING I could have imagined and more!! Flavorful with the required "hot dog snap" and...and you get to select your own toppings! Oh my my my! I have found my HAPPY PLACE!

Pittie dog combo meal along with a cheesecake brownie. Yum!!

I came across this spot on Yelp a year ago after they opened. Reviews online were highly positive and they most recently were highlighted on Channel 13 for their Friday Flavor segment. So you know we had to go check them out. After walking in, Sophia and I got right in line to order. They actually had a nice crowd for lunch, even some families. And the decor....wonderful. One of the best I've seen in a while. You can tell they put their heart and soul into making this truly welcoming. Imagine if Arsenio Hall and Randy Jackson walked inside. Both would blush like crazy and call for the Dog Pound to scream. Oh yeah....the food. I ordered the pittie dog combo meal with sauteed onions, sauerkraut, banana peppers and yellow mustard for toppings and sidewinder fries and sauerkraut for sides and a cheesecake brownie for dessert. Very delicious indeed. From the first bite to the last, everything on the plate tasted fantastic. The sidewinder fries....probably some of the best fries I've ever had. And when Sophia smiled at me saying she wants to come back, you know we've found a hidden gem. There you have ladies and gentlemen, a great visit to a wonderful spot. This will definitely be a repeat for us. Till next time :)

Loved the name, 'Pittie Dog Grill' and the fact that they were a hot dog joint, so I knew I had to check them out when I was in town! The menu is pretty extensive and can be overwhelming, but the staff are welcoming and friendly! Ask any questions - they are more than happy to assist and create the perfect 'dog' for you! We ordered: +a Pittie Dog, Chicago style - I was surprised that they had the neon relish and the sports peppers; the bun had 'charred' marks, but it was a little dry/stale; the dog itself was super salty, but it did have a good snap; toppings were generous Note that they use Sabrett dogs. We had also ordered the Sidewinder/Petal Combo, with chili and cheese topped on the sidewinders, but their fryer was out T___T Ample seating inside with great decor. I loved the TV showing videos of pitties! Parking available in their lot. +friendly service +parking in lot

    Mini dog flight!

Clean and open seating. Order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready.

Someone at my dentist office recommended I try this place. So I stopped by for lunch. When I entered the owner was busy taking orders. He greeted me and I waited my turn. You order your food, choose your hot toppings, then they call your name to come up to choose the rest of your toppings. It's kinda a subway style setup. Weds are $5 foot long specials from 11-7pm. The menu says they have over 49 toppings. Most of the toppings are free, which I think is fantastic. They sell hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes, and etc. The food is pretty reasonably priced. $10 for lunch is a wonderful deal. I ordered a foot long hot dog, sidewinder fries, coleslaw, and a bottle of water. The fries were delicious, I got to my car and noticed I only had 6 fries. So I went back inside to order more. The owner said they come in 6 oz or 8 oz. I guess that's fair but I was a little disappointed because the reviews show a good sized portion in the pics. I ordered a second side and again was given 6 fries, lol. They were $4.50 for a small. I will say they were very tasty. Kinda like a potato wedge texture. I highly recommend trying them. My hotdog had pico, corn salsa, chili, cheese, pickles, fried onions, green onions, and coleslaw. It was delicious!!! I'm a real fan of the fun topping options!!! The coleslaw was a little bland but it went well together. I also tried the Snickers cookies which were $2. They were soft and pretty tasty!! I enjoyed my meal. The lady who made my food was super nice. She chatted with me for a moment and I was on my way. The restaurant has seating inside. Lunch time seems to have a good flow of people. They have a hot dog flight I'd like to try next time. The shake machine was out of order today, but I'll be back for the key lime shake!! If your in the area it's worth stopping by!! Check them out!!

    Perfectly presented Chicago dog

Bright colors and clean. Super friendly team working there. What blew our minds more than just how delicious was the presentation. Not slipper to gather but my Chicago dog's toppings were thoughtfully laid out. Huge thumbs up. The Chicago dog was amazing with the proper neon relish. The Norfolk dog was stellar with the right amount of chili, onion and mustard. The onion petals are delish too. Now to try their shakes! I am totally sold as this is the best dog spot in the 757. Will be back

I had the suggested, foot-long combo meal. It comes with 2 sides, which are DELICIOUS. I chose the sweet potato fries and slaw. The customer service was amazing. Having never been here, the order taker was patient and answered all of my questions. What I like the most was that was no attempt to upsell. Her description of the food was enough for me to say, yes to everything she suggested. I ended.my meal with a custard shake. I'll follow up later about that. The ambience was nice, and relaxing. The music was just loud enough to enjoy! The wall art...amazing! I would definitely recommend this place to friends Follow-up: the shake was also spot on! It was well blended and although i was handed a spoon, I had no difficulty using the straw. There was a little surprise; chocolate chips on the bottom!

What a great find. Yummy dogs dressed any way you'd like. Clean diner tables cute dog pit-bull pix n merch. also w shakes n malts. Can get a mix of onion petals n fries. That's awesome. Quick counter service. Patient while you pick your topping!

We headed over after a trip to the Botanical Gardens. We will definitely be back. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had two regular dogs, a chili cheese dog, the NC dog, the sweet potato fries, the sidewinder fries and some special sauce - which was great. We had a cookies and cream shake and a kids mint shake. We look forward to coming back to try some other things. The man taking our order was kind and helpful and the lady cooking and topping the dogs was friendly and kind! Great place!!

The Pittie Dog Grill held their Grand Opening early last month in November at their location in the Riverview Village section of Norfolk's Granby Street, intersecting 42nd Street with a small parking lot available. It took over a spot that was previously occupied by a number of restaurants, including a location of Capt'n Crabby that closed in 2022, and before that, a Subway. Riverview Village includes a family of close knit businesses that lend mutual support to each other, and the Pittie Dog Grill is the latest one to join the family. Hot dogs are the name of the game at Pittie Dog Grill, which has also dedicated its business to the support of the American Pit Bull Terrier. Their interior decor is highlighted by an abundance of creative pit bull art. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of their merchandise, which includes their Pittie Dog T-Shirts and NuLand's Hot Sauce, is donated to local animal rescue centers. They also sell house made pup treats in pumpkin and peanut butter flavors. If you buy one, they also donate one to a dog at a local shelter. All proceeds go to Norfolk Animal Care and the Norfolk SPCA. In addition to hot dogs, they serve burgers, custard shakes, jumbo sized cookies from the Wigglebutt Cookie Company, and a number of sides that includes jumbo dill pickles, fries, onion petals, and others. Happy Puppy Hour is held daily from 2 pm to 5 pm, during which you can get 2 Puppy Pittie dogs, a small order of fries, and a drink for $9.99, including tax. Their hot dogs are charbroiled Sabrett Beef Hot Dogs. They offer a regular sized Pittie Dog, a larger sized quarter pound Pittie Dog, and a foot long Pittie Dog, all with a natural casing. Their smaller Puppy Pittie Dog is skinless. After three lunch time visits, I have tried the following: CHICAGO DOGS: Poppy Seed Bun with Yellow Mustard, Sweet Neon Relish, Tomatoes, Diced Onions, Pickle Spear, Sport Peppers, and Celery Salt. I ordered two of these in their regular Pittie Dog size. I have never tried an actual Chicago Dog from Chicago, but these were the best versions of the Chicago Dog I have ever tried in this area. The Sabrett dogs delivered a nice snap and flavor. The flavors of all of the other ingredients came together beautifully, and I especially loved the sweet neon relish, sport peppers, and celery salt. My Rating: 5 Stars. BLOODY MARY DOGS: These are not on their regular menu, but were featured as a special addition on a recent Sunday. They were described as follows on their Facebook page: "Any Pittie Dog with Diced Tomatoes, Pico, Pepper Relish, a Pickle Spear, and our Homemade Bloody Mary Sauce from the NuLand Hot Sauce Company, Mr. Picklesworth's Dill Pickle Hot Sauce, and other secret ingredients." The combination of ingredients intrigued me, and I was able to get them to make me a couple during a weekday visit. The Bloody Mary flavor came through nicely and was further enhanced by all the other ingredients. I ordered them in the Puppy Pittie size by mistake, which come skinless without the "snap" of the others. I will order them again during a future visit in their regular Pittie Dog size. Their flavors came together beautifully for an exhilarating taste experience. My Rating: 5 Stars. NORFOLK DOGS: These are described on their menu as "Mustard and Onions on the bottom and Hot Dog Chili on the top." I ordered two of them. The Norfolk Dog was first invented by George Bacali, a Greek immigrant who began to serve his hot dogs in 1934 at Bacali's Hot Dogs on City Hall Avenue in downtown Norfolk. Mustard, onion, and hot dog chili are the only ingredients. The Norfolk Dog later made its way to Tony's Hot Dogs on Lafayette Boulevard in Norfolk, led by Tony Mirable and his wife. His three sons later carried on the tradition with hot dog spots on their own with their family recipe. These Norfolk Dogs were made with the Hormel brand "snap dogs", which were discontinued in January of 2019. The Sabrett version does not give me quite the snap as the original Hormel version, but they are snappy enough. The charbroiled taste of the Sabrett dogs and the flavors of the mustard and hot dog chili came through nicely. If I can make one suggestion, it would be to show at least a little bit of the mustard and onions on top for greater eye appeal. I have an old photo of two Norfolk Dogs from Tony's Hot Dogs that show a drizzle of mustard on top with specks of onions on the buns. My Rating: 4.5 Stars. CHOCOLATE CUSTARD SHAKE WITH WHIPPED CREAM: This was my dessert treat during one of my visits, and this one blew me away with an explosion of flavor and texture. I loved the creamy custard texture and the swirls of chocolate inside, topped off by the light and airy whipped cream. My Rating: 5 Stars. This review comes with a well-deserved 5-star rating. The Pittie Dog Grill has brought my long lost love affair with the All-American hot dog back to life, and I am looking forward to my future visits.

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. Lastly, they have birch beer here, which I loved! Highly recommend stopping in for a great burger and fries experience!!

This place is a Norfolk institution, or at least it should be considered one because it has stood the test of time. They have stayed in business for so long because they are doing something right. Let's get into it... Manny's Burger is a little hole in the wall takeout burger joint. There are no frills here. If you're lucky you can score a seat at the one picnic table outside. You place your order through a window and when it's ready they yell out your name. It's very nostalgic and perhaps that's one of the reasons why they have been around for so long. It's a reminder of a time when life was much simpler and far less stressful and complicated. They have many items on their menu but my favorite is the Manny Burger. It's a beef patty served with lettuce, tomato and pickle with boiled ham on top. I know what you're thinking, boiled ham??? Don't knock it until you've tried it. For reasons that I still don't understand, it all just works together so wonderfully well that I wouldn't dream of changing anything. Everyone was vey happy, especially those in the party who ordered the spiciest burger on the menu. (MAYBE it had Reaper or Ghost, but I don't recall. ) Definitely a pub feel, but not obnoxious and still great for non-drinkers like me. Excellent option for non-chain burgers. Ours was a business trip group of 10, and it was a great venue for casually meeting co-workers, many of whom had never met.

Everyone plays on their phones through a QR code, so the room stays pretty calm. No shouting answers or chaos, just a lot of people quietly locked into trivia. I was seated immediately and ordered The Big Cheese burger. At first glance, it looked promising. The beef seemed like quality meat and not a frozen hockey puck. The vegetables were also very fresh. No sad, limp lettuce or those weird mushy tomato slices some places try to pass off as fresh. But here's where things went sideways: the patty had almost no flavor. I'm honestly not convinced it met salt at any point during its journey to the plate. It wasn't bad, just noticeably under-seasoned. For a place that positions itself as a serious burger spot, seasoning the meat feels like Burger 101. The fries were good. They offer different seasoning options, but I kept it simple with salt and pepper. I also ordered the Cheerwine sangria, which sounded like it would be something special. In reality, it mostly tasted like regular sangria that someone carbonated. Not bad, just not particularly interesting. Service was friendly and quick, which I appreciated. Overall, the meal was fine. But when your whole mission is basically "we're the burger experts," it's a little surprising when the burger tastes like the seasoning got left in the kitchen.

The wagyu beef was prepared to a perfect t medium as ordered. The restaurant has a modern, industrial style: concrete floors and benches along the walls. The restaurant was fairly busy when we there with only one server working. My first thought with a party of 5 this will be a disaster. I was wrong. Diamond was a great server who seemed to keep all of her tables satisfied. We were extremely pleased with her friendly, efficient, and smooth service.

The waitress and bar tender were super nice and helpful with menu recommendations. I order their fried shrimp appetizer which came with 8 large shrimp and a side of tater tots. It was tasty but lacked seasoning. When I sat down, I noticed a lot of salt on the table....i understood why haha as I found myself sprinkling salt throughout out. They were crunchy and tender on the inside. Getting to this location was super easy and they own their own parking lot which is free for patrons. If you're not able to find parking, they have plenty of paid street parking. I also want to add that they do offer discounts but to service members who are in uniform. Service members rarely ever wear their uniforms just to dine out unless they are on official orders or are working full time. I find that a bit unfortunate because the value veterans and military service members bring should be honored while they are and are not in uniform so I hope that the management changes that policy someday. They offer no other forms of discounts as I asked about teachers and emergency personnel too just to give people something additional when seeking this place out. It's still a good lunch spot tho.

It was something we fussed at her about lol so my son and I decided to have cheeseburgers in her honor. Craft Bar was recommended when I searched best burger on Yelp, so we gave it a try. We were able to be seated pretty immediately and our serve came to wait on us quickly! I ordered the Black and Blue burger with sweet potatoes waffle fried, and my son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. I got my burger with a little pink, and it was cooked to perfection! Sometimes I am hesitant to get pink because it's been to raw. The burger was not only cooked to perfection, I really loved the bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. The waffle fries with the cinnamon/brown sugar sauce were great as well. My son also really enjoyed his burger, but he did say his fries tasted like shrimp. I tasted them, and they didn't taste like shrimp but they did have a distinct taste. I can't really describe it, but I didn't like it. Otherwise we had a great visit, one of the best burgers I've had, and really good, quick service! I am sure we were in and out in under an hour with everything still being super fresh!
