Beef hotdog with mustard
Joey M.

Three stars for fast and friendly service. All I can say is that I had a hot dog and fries to go. Was in the mood for a hot dog so I stopped at this local spot on Tidewater Dr. The first thing I noticed was their "cash only" sign, then I noticed their sign stating that you cannot use their restroom. Ok, thank you for the heads up. Most if the seating was blocked off, so the seating was limited to two tables right next to the door. Ordered a beef hotdog, fries and an unsweet tea. I have to say that the tea was my favorite part of the meal. The hotdog was ridiculously salty, could barley eat it. I did like the fries, but there weren't enough that were a bit crunchy. Almost forgot to mention that they also serve breakfast. I'll post pictures of the menu. The food is very reasonably priced. I will say that the lady who took my order and the one who rang me up were very friendly. I won't be back for the food, but I do recommend you check it out. Who knows, you might like it.

Hotdog with all the fixings.

This is a place that I have a history with. One of those spots my people used to take me to when I was a little girl. Mind yourselves, this place only takes cash, so come prepared. Very homey and welcoming environment when you walk in, like a small town diner without the booths. They aren't selfish with their drinks or food and the prices are reasonable. The hot dog was good, but the chili left much to be desired flavor wise. The double cheese burger was decent, nice and juicy (I might add more tomatoes next time). The only complaint I have about the burger is that it wasn't seasoned, but that bun was toasted and the cheese was melted just right which made up for it. All in all this experience gets a 8/10.

Large combo .. 2 dogs and fries with a drink to wash them down!

I had my first visit to Lindy's today to observe National Hot Dog Day. The reviews looked good and although they weren't offering any specials deals, the regular price was easily as low as I would have spent to eat in my car at a certain fast food drive-in. The dogs were really good! Not large but all beef with that satisfying little snap to the skin when you bite in. I got the large combo with 2 dogs, fries and a drink for $7.95. The dogs come standard with some good chili, mustard and onions. They are a cash only business so be prepared but you don't need a lot of it! * There is more than dogs on the menu. They serve breakfast fare and burgers and sandwiches as well.

2 Pieces Hotdogs with Medium Drink and Fries

the food is very good and nostalgic. it reminds you of those family cook outs during the summer. The service is immaculate. They are friendly and kind with a sense of humor. The place itself is very decorative and you can tell they like football.10/10 i definitely recommend.

Forget eating cheeseburgers anywhere other than here at Lindy's Famous Hotdogs. They have the best crinkle cut fries in the world.

Best food in town! This place serves the best tasting cheeseburger I have ever eaten! The fries are right on point and we love driving from Virginia Beach to eat here. I love their food and the breakfast is delicious too!!

They are still serving good food fast. The service is also friendly. No need to say what's already been said. Come for breakfast or lunch but they close by 5. They only accept ca$h.

Sorry I ate the other half:)

I like it. I've been going here for years. And they are consistent. Lil "hole in the wall" type of spot. U can get comfortable. And the staff makes u want to come back. As a burger lover one of my favs. Haven't tried anything else on the menu though

Basic hot dog combo.

What a surprise!…read more We had a quick bite here before going to the Chartway Arena for a show and my husband wanted something for lunch. It was packed, probably with people doing what we were doing, but there were several seats at the bar so we snagged three and were greeted pretty quickly by a very friendly waitress. She made recommendations at my husband's request and suggested the special which was two hotdogs with topping of your choice, half order of fries or tots and a drink. He went with that and we ordered a single cheeseburger for our toddler. Food was out quickly - probably less than 10 minutes and the burgers and fries were piping hot and very good. My husband was pleased. Their menu is much larger than I expected with tons of burgers, sandwiches, some salads and other things. Our waitress and a few others checked on us while we ate to ensure we didn't need anything. Very good service. I think we will definitely come back.

It's one of the few old school Hot Dog Shops that still feature the iconic Norfolk Dog. The spot closes at 3pm each day. There was plenty of time to stop. The location is on Azalea Garden Road about 2 blocks north of Princess Anne Road. Don't expect a picturesque spot. This building is located in the midst of warehouses, car repair shops & such. Lew's was obviously packed with people wanting those few last days of the wonderful Norfolk Dogs. Parking was around the front & side of the shop & on the street. Even the "no parking" area was filled. We stepped directly into an earlier time. And I loved it. Seating was mainly around the counter. I would have loved to have eaten there. But we had just had donuts in Ghent. So we ordered at the cramped takeout counter, The cook, who I suspect was the owner's wife, cooked on a small grill near the front window. A young man took the orders, writing each takeout order on a paper bag for the cook. The proprietor busily did everything. He was personable & funny. He had his rules, just like his long gone competitors, We sat at the counter and talked to a customer who had driven down from Arlington. He obviously knew the place well as the owner bantered with him. When our order was ready we left, a little sad that we couldn't stay and eat. It had been so much fun. The Norfolk Dogs were wonderful. They're snap dogs, customarily served only with mustard, chili & onions. Lew's did allow other condiments added, even serving French fries. You could get thrown out of some of his former competitors for asking for catsup or potato chips. There must be a return before they close. I want to sit and eat at the counter. I want to come out with that familiar smell of onions in my hair. By the way, they're still open to selling the shop. It comes with the secret recipe for their chili sauce. Norfolk Dog lovers need this eatery to remain open. Don't let them be lost to time.

Locally and Black-owned in Norfolk, this lunch counter style gem is nothing short of classics you don't see that much anymore. So, on arrival, you can have a seat, and a hostess or cashier will come out and take your order. The chef will take your order if you sit at the lunch counter. Either way, your food will be cooked to order right when you order so that it will be fresh! The main star, hotdogs, is on the menu, but you can also get burgers. Crinkle fries come with the meal or chips. Now, these hotdogs come in all ways, so review the menu carefully of the options. The ingredients are made fresh all day to ensure you get your food that way. Did I mention they serve breakfast? Yes, they have a breakfast menu as well. Seating at the counter is a treat because there is TV to watch, and you can see the Chef prepare your food. The price is excellent, too; two hotdogs, fires, and a drink were about twelve dollars. This place is GREAT for lunch and breakfast; I will be back. Happy Yelping.

There is limited, free parking spots in their lot, which they also share with another restaurant, so be mindful of that. Not sure how street parking is like; it is on a busy street. I arrived before a rush of people, which was around 2:30 pm on a weekday. The inside is a little unassuming but has character and charm. I enjoyed seeing the dog theme decor on the walls. The man working there was welcoming and very friendly! Service was wonderful. There are plenty of hot dogs to choose from, and there are plenty of options for hot and cold toppings. Went with the pittie dogs, fries, and chocolate cheesecake brownie. A good, simple hot dog! Fries were crispy and warm. Brownie was pretty good and sweet. I look forward to trying the other items on the menu like the bratwurst. Another cool thing I noticed is for their rewards system instead of it saying points on the receipt, it says "spots"! How creative and fun is that! I love how they kept the dog theme even for things people often overlook. Definitely a fun, little spot for affordable hot dogs! Try it out for yourselves!
