4.5 stars for the drinks. 3.5 stars on the location. This place is relatively new. I didn't know it was inside the Pagoda, so it took us a while to find it. GPS would direct you to the back side of Pagoda if you put in the address of Feng cha. It's an open space within Pagoda. It wouldn't be a good place to work on stuff because it's pretty loud on the Pagoda side even we went in the middle of the day. I love the variety of milk foams they have. They have a pretty limited menu but it's okay because I went there for the milk foam haha. The tea wasn't strong but this place is less sweet compares to sencha and chat time. With the high reviews on yelp, I thought I would give this a try since I had never heard of Feng Cha before. The selection of boba tea is definitely on the smaller side, but it seems like they're expanding their selections. I got the (usual) Oolong Milk Tea with boba and pudding. I was a little taken back of the fact there isn't a customization on ice or sugar level, but didn't think too much of it. The Oolong Milk Tea seems to be a little watered down, which is unfortunate. The boba has a good QQ chewiness to it, but lacking on the flavor or any sweetness - it was very bland. Overall, beside it being cute, I didn't like my drink too much. But then again, it seems like it's not what their known for. I wouldn't go back for the Oolong Milk Tea or maybe any milk tea in general, but I might come back just to try their popular dirty boba or cheese foam specialty. read more

I am a bubble tea connoisseur but I never had cheese foam before with my milk tea. I went for the black milk tea with cheese foam with regular sweetness level and boba. It tasted smooth and creamy but not too sweet, even though I got it in regular sweetness. In my opinion it was my style of milk tea. I can taste the black tea through the milk flavor. The boba was the perfect texture. Next I tried the cheese foam. It tasted like light cream with a small hint of cheese taste. Loved it. I personally don't like the strong taste of cheese, so it taste really good with the black milk tea. For my first experience with cheese foam, I would try again! My sister got the Grapefruit fruit drink with lychee with regular sweetness. It had beautiful slices of grapefruit on the sides of the cup. When I tasted it, it tasted like an amazing quality grapefruit juice with lychee jelly. It reminded me of the Asian jelly candy when I was little. Love love. The bonus qualities to this place is that they had beautiful cups. The lid had a great mechanism to drink the foam and milk tea separately. The cups had a beautiful look and matte feel. read more

I appreciate the Twin Cities as you are able to find at least one location that follows foodie trends. Well Feng Cha is one of them! Feng Cha is inside of Pagoda. Remember that Pagoda has parking in the back, so that means Feng Cha has parking as well. It is a cute little set up and design, it can be noisy as Pagoda can get loud when it is crowded. The menu is minimal but they do their drinks well. Make sure to show your student ID to get a free upgrade. The drinks are tad bit pricey when you do the add-ons but they are so good! Cheese foam hype is real as it's yummy. When you think of cheese foam its an odd thing but it works so well with the tea. It is a must get. My usual drink is Jasmine Green Tea, 75% sweet, lite ice with cheese foam. It is solidly a good drink. If you are hooked, they have the clover app to get a free drink after paying for 10. They have quite a bit of fruit tea options as well and know I have quite a bit of friends who are fans. So you can get your tea fix here. I went to pagoda to eat wings and noticed they opened a new tea shop within! Even more surprising, it specializes in the new and very trendy milk foam teas!! It is located where I believe pagoda used to set up their karaoke space. There are cute small tables with small cute figurines decorating them. The shop serves a variety of different teas from the typical jasmine green, or oolong to floral scented teas like rose oolong and osmanthus (don't worry, I asked for you, and it is another type of flower) oolong and even lychee tea! To top it off there are 4 types of milk foam! That's 2 more than I ever heard of. The typical sea salt, cheese, matcha ... and ok I can't remember the 4th but there was 4. There are also jelly toppings if you want to add those too. For those who do not know what foam teas are: it is a cold served tea of your choice, usually sweeter floral teas like jasmine that is topped with foam. Think of like lattes or those new cold foam brew drinks at Starbucks. So when you drink it, you get a sip of tea and some foam in one. I got the rose oolong (I love rose teas from my previous reviews) with sea salt foam and light ice. It was delicious and everything I expected from my foam tea. The foam gave the tea a slight milky-ness in each sip. I was in heaven. The teas here are not that sweet so I do not recommend decreasing the sugar. I typically do 30-50% sugar at most places, but was advised to stick to normal sugar and was happy with the advice. I have to take a minute to talk about the cup. So the drink has two sizes, regular (my guess is about 12oz) and large (16oz is my guess). The lid come with a small heart shape stopper to cover the drinking outlets I enjoy sipping my tea from this because then you get both the foam and the tea. The other side has a spot to punch in a straw if you got jelly topping. This confuses me because if you drink the tea out of the straw, then you're gonna have all the foam left at the end. No one wants to drink that on its own. So I opted not to get jellies in my tea. Anyway, the cup was very cool and functional to drinking your drink, I kept it for making my own tea at home. Ok, sorry for being long winded about a cup. Feng cha has a reward system through an app where you get a free drink every 10th drink. They also have fruit smoothies that sounded good but I am here to rave about the new foam tea place in MN! read more

MILK FOAM. If you don't like milk foam, the idea of milk foam, or aren't going to get milk foam, stop reading here. If you are interested in one of (to my knowledge) the only places in the Twin Cities that does offer milk foam on top of your tea drink, then let's begin. I tried a regular lychee oolong tea with cheese milk foam and regular ice and sugar levels, with white boba. Feng Cha really takes the teahouse part of their name seriously, because oolong tea was pretty much all I could taste - the lychee flavor wasn't very strong, so if you like tea over sweetener, this might be your place. The cheese milk foam was pretty tasty by itself, salty and a little sweet, creamy. The cups come with a little heart-shaped plug so you can sip some of the foam separately if you prefer. I decided to stir mine up after tasting the individual components, and that's when the magic happened. The foam makes the drink overall creamier, similar to a milk tea, but more of a light whipped cream texture than a milky one. With a sweeter drink, I could see how the cheese milk foam would make it taste balanced, but the lychee oolong was just too grassy to really get anything other than a texture change. The white boba was soft and chewy, and is a good option for people who find black boba to be too sweet. My friends (bless them) also bought a small strawberry cheesecake to share, which was actually tastier than the drink in my opinion. It was moist, not too sweet, and extremely cute. Feng Cha is tucked inside of Pagoda where the karaoke and private dining rooms used to be, and they share an entrance, so it's easy to miss. They have a few tables along the windows and the dividing wall between them and Pagoda, so it's a nice place to meet and chat. For studying though, it's on the loud side. They do offer a free size upgrade from small to regular if you show your student discount, and they have a point system to earn a free drink. There's quite a few tea options for doing the milk foam route (and about 4 non milk foam options) and four milk foam options. I hope they consider adding more milk foams to make it even more expansive (and to give me a reason to try it again). I also hope they consider getting longer straws or redesigning their regular size up. The straws are barely long enough to reach the bottom to pull up any pearls or jelly in your drink, and trying to move the straw to reach them can be a hassle. Overall, it wasn't amazing and I wouldn't come back if I wasn't in the area, but it's worth trying once just for the milk foam. read more

Tried Feng Cha Tea House on my day off today. You might be confused about the location once you get there, but yes you are at the right location-the tea house is in Pagodas. Just walk through the doors and head to the Feng Cha doors. First impressions: the menu is easy to read, the setup is cute and modern. The workers were nice. What I ordered: I had ordered a small citrus lord. . The order came with 2 orange slices and a citrus green tea. The tea was not as sweet as I wanted, so if you like lighter/less sweet tea you would really like it. Overall I think the tea was good and refreshing. The cup was super cute. My absolute favorite boba tea place in MN!!! I usually go for the classic milk boba with cheese foam. Note that they err on the less sweet side to amplify the tea taste, but if you ask for more sweet they'll do it. This combo is sweet, slightly salty from the foam, creamy, and refreshing- everything that's important in a good milk boba! Their boba balls are soft and chewy, what other places strive to be but cannot achieve. I've also tried various other drinks too like their grapefruit tea, dirty mango boba, etc and honestly everything has been delicious. Also if you have a university id (from anywhere doesn't have to be the U), you get a free upgrade to a larger size. At first I thought it was a promotion for their opening month, but they've always kept and honored it. Skip other boba places in MN that are watered down no tea taste, bad service, boring options and just go straight here! Incredibly Horrible experience!!! I have been a loyal customer and was so happy for the opening of their new location. Got the store at 8:53 before their closing time 9:00 on Friday, 02/18. The door was locked, although there were customers still sitting in there. At beginning, I thought the door was just frozen as it was below zero F at the moment. Tried to ask the store staff to open the door but they both avoided eye contacts with me and pretended not seeing me. I thought they were just busy so I waited in the freezing cold outside until 8:58. A couple of customers were trying to open the door for me but they got stopped by the store staff. I finally realized that the staff intentionally chose to ignore me. Then a customer in there typed "They are closed" on his phone and showed it to me. During the entire 5 mins, no staff was even trying to come to the door and let me know that they closed early, just kept locking me out, pretended that I didn't exist out there and stopped other customers to offer help. Eventually, after 5 mins waiting in the below zero F freezing cold weather, I left at 8:58, which was still earlier than their closing time 9:00.
