I sent an email to the CEO, Erin, over the holiday weekend, requesting for her to please rush my order ASAP because I was so scared I was going to accidentally spill the beans and ruin the surprise if too much time went by. Do not normally bother to comment /rate but this begs attention. I received a giant fortune cookie as a gift and it was so dang hard it was inedible except for prying off mini M&Ms, which frankly wasn't worth it. What really also annoys me is the fact that I felt it was important to put a review on their website, which I did. People pay over $30 for the giant fortune cookie and you shouldn't get an inedible product for that price! I went to their site today thinking perhaps the owners might have made apologies for the poor product (which good customer service dictates they should have), but my one star review was completely wiped off of their site. Order placed on May 20. Order requested to be delivered to Lake Oswego, OR by June 5. Order picked up by USPS at Fancy Fortune Cookies in Carmel, IN on May 29. Order arrived in Portland, OR on June 4. Order shipped back to Indianapolis on June 5 because Fancy Fortune Cookies coded their shipping label wrong so the postal machines read the barcode to ship it back to Indiana. USPS intercepted package back in Indianapolis on June 7. They corrected the barcode and the package reshipped to Oregon on June 8. Package arrived at correct destination on June 11 at 3:03 pm. After 14 days of traveling back and forth across the United States, the cookie arrived intact, but it was stale and inedible. To quote the recipient, "It was as tough as leather." To top it off Fancy Fortune Cookies didn't even include part of the order. I ordered the Smiley Junior Giant Fortune Cookie and it was to include a "bonus traditional fortune cookie tucked inside." There was no bonus anything tucked anywhere. I reached out to Fancy Fortune Cookies on June 6, 9, and 11 to rectify the problems. It is now June 15 and I've never heard back from them. read more

My wife got the sample pack with chocolate, mint and yellow (bannana?) and they were great, they smelt like a normal fortune cookie (my wife smells her food first lol) but they tasted just like the flavor they were supposed to, I was kind of shocked. And they had fortunes in them printed on nice paper. by far the worse online merchant service! order placed 4/5. per the order form, it specifically asks you "when you would like your cookies to arrive" AND "when is your event." stated arrival date of 4/12 and event date of 4/14. i was throwing my best friend a baby shower and was depending on these fortune cookies for the dessert table! received fedex tracking number stating it will be shipped out on 4/10. checked the next two days and still no tracking update so i emailed them again. 4/12 i receive an email from erin and lo'n'behold, they still had the cookies at the warehouse and didn't ship them out till that afternoon! of course, the cookies did not arrive till the 18th, which by that time, i had no use for them anymore. i asked for a return shipping label hoping that they would take some responsibility, but nope, rather, erin threw their fine print of how they were within the timeframes crap. seriously? why ask your customers when the date of the event and when you need the cookies by if you can't even take those dates into consideration? very simple, if you can't meet that timeline, email or call the customer. that's why we imput our contact information! subsequent to that, i have tried multiple times to reach someone in order to return the useless cookies. of course, no response until the 4th time, 2 weeks later. and when erin did respond, she took no responsibility and only gave me one option, her option and that was it. talk about UNLUCKY stumbling onto this merchant.... erin, don't insult our intelligence and confuse good customer service with your BS. These people have the patience of saints--I'm picky and persnickity and want things a certain way and they handled all that with aplomb! Then, the cookies themselves are AWESOME!!! I've used them for a number of products I've marketed, and every time, my clients wanted to know where I got them, loved them, and years later, talk about them. I haven't tried all the flavors, but quite a few and they are amazing. My favorite is the (pink) raspberry, orange, (yellow) lemon, (plain) coconut and the (red) cherry. If you really want to impress, the chocolate dipped ones have wow factor on looks and taste. Every committee I work on, I suggest Fancy Fortune Cookies because of the quality of their product and service--oh, and timeliness! So lucky they are based out of Indy--get them even quicker! This review is based solely on the customer service. Which was so appalling that even though the cookie was pretty good, I will never order from this company again. Bought a cookie for a Valentine's Day gift on February 7th. I got no confirmation email saying when it would ship. 6 days go by with no word, until the day before Valentine's Day when a mass, generic email is sent out( with incredibly unprofessional bolding and underlining of key messages they want to make sure you see) stating that any order placed after February 6th would not be shipped until after Valentine's Day. Which is a completely fair business practice, it only it had been made explicitly clear in the ordering process that this was the case. Or if a single person had answered a phone or responded to an email when I was asking this very question during the first few days of February, hesitating to order because the website looks like a high school student developed it and I couldn't tell if the deadline for V-day had passed. I'm fairly adept at reading the fine print, and I saw nothing that indicated any sort of deadline was in place. My Valentine's Day was far from ruined- a silly cookie doesn't have that much power- but my eagerness to try new places was tempered by this terrible experience. Avoid. read more

This review is only for their GIANT FORTUNE COOKIES: I ordered a giant chocolate covered fortune cookie back in October 2013 because my fiance and I wanted a creative way to ask his uncle to marry us. We thought, "What better way than to put it in a giant fortune cookie!!" I typed out a personalized message when I was ordering the cookie but had some issues with the format of the message. I contacted their customer service and Derek immediately addressed my concerns and helped me with my order! We were so excited to give my fiance's uncle the fortune cookie a couple of days after it arrived! It came nicely packaged and the fortune cookie looked awesome! The message inside was also formatted exactly how I wanted it to look! The only negative thing was that the fortune cookie WAS NOT EDIBLE. We tried eating it and it almost hurt our teeth trying to bite into it. Maybe I just got a bad cookie because most of the other reviewers can't stop talking about how amazing they tasted. It was slightly disappointing that we couldn't eat it but we all laughed about it and don't regret ordering the cookie! 5 stars for presentation, customer service, and fast shipping! 1 star for taste - chocolate was good but the cookie was as hard as a rock. It's a generous two stars. I decided to give this company a try using a Groupon, but it wasn't much of a deal. First off, a 50 cookie minimum order for an event we were planning, and nearly three weeks of lead time needed to place and have the order shipped? Their website and payments aren't particularly easy to navigate, and shipping isn't included, so by the time you order the cookies, they're about $1 per piece, in my case, for a very basic cookie. They weren't worth it. The cookies did not arrive on time, and now we have 50 rather useless cookies that don't even taste that nice. I apparently missed filling in a field that wasn't required, but helpful, about when the event was supposed to be. That's how their customer service decided to approach their conversation with me when I simply asked to reuse the Groupon, if they wouldn't see fit to give me a refund. This would have a been a goodwill gesture that maybe would have cost them $20. But the company decided it would be easier to just lose me as a customer. There are plenty of other places that do something similar to this. The goal was to give a small business near us a chance rather than go with a big one. This was a big mistake. read more

This is literally a horrible company. I had placed an order for fortune cookies (this was back in January '14) for an anniversary present. My order was simply never shipped out, and since the shipment missed the anniversary altogether I wanted a refund. Each time I attempted e-mailing or calling representatives to request my money back they would either 1) stop e-mailing me back after I said I wanted a refund or 2) neither pick up or return my phone calls. I also used a Groupon for my order. It would have been great if it had been possible to choose in quantities of 10 or so for each flavor. Instead you have to buy them per 50. I wanted to get a few of each, so I ordered the gift bin, which has several flavors. Unfortunately, none of the flavors that I really wanted to try, like coffee, or chocolate covered ones. But I didn't want to spend a fortune (ha ha). Shipping was quite an arm and a leg in itself. I had indicated I wanted to receive the bin next Monday, but I got it today, Thursday. Oh well, I guess that option doesn't really work. The cookies are pretty tasty, even though I would have liked to try some of the other flavors. My biggest complaint is that almost all the same colored cookies, have the same message. I picked the inspirational one... That is really kind of lame. If you have a bunch of friends there, you want people to get different messages. They need to work on that. All in all, I think they are a bit overpriced, even when using a Groupon, and they need to work on the variety of the messages in the cookies. read more

To be honest, I was a bit wary of the website at first, but I am truly impressed and satisfied with their level of customer service. I think the fortune cookies themselves are good....and the option to have any flavor/color you want would be a hit. I do not care for the customer service. I, like another reviewer, used a groupon so maybe we aren't the customers that the company is trying to keep satisfied. I was first a little upset that the company was out of stock of the sampler package. I'm not saying this is impossible just surprising since you get to pick your flavors. Does this mean they were out of every cookie? I tried several combinations of 3 different cookies and the website kept saying they were out of stock. That doesn't sit well with me. I then received a phone call a few days later (so they do have my phone number-this will be important later) and the lady I spoke with said that they needed my card number because my paypal didn't go through. The thing about paypal is it's set up through my checking account and as a backup IF paypal doesn't go through it automatically uses my debit card to complete the order. I log into paypal before giving them my card info and notice that it didn't come out of paypal so I gave them my card number.....about an hour later my shipment is at my door. I find it very odd and think something weird had to happen but that they just sent it out early. Two days later I receive another package, so I check my bank statement and see that I was charged twice. The first time (possibly when paypal didn't work and it went through my bank card instead) and the second time when I gave my number to them over the phone. I get someone in accounting on the phone and they say that I placed two orders within 3 minutes of each other. Now I realize at this point, that a computer error on my end would be tough to argue without a video camera showing I only hit submit order one time. I was told I have to return the package to get my money back because it was my fault that I placed two orders. I asked whey they didn't mention this when they had me on the phone and asked them why if I had placed two orders had I been given the groupon discount (which is a nice percentage) twice and they hesitated and said they weren't sure how that happened. I know how it happened....the computer duplicated my order! So, I contacted Fedex and they won't do "package refusal" return shipping without the account number of the company. I have sent two messages to the company through their site asking them for the account number to return the second package or to get me a return shipping label. So, I have a tin of cookies in my kitchen that are pretty tasty.......and a box sitting by my door that I've paid for and can't return. I just wanted to try the flavored cookies I didn't order these for a party. It's just me......I don't need 130 fortune cookies at my house. Cookies "B" Customer Service "F" Customer service grade could go up a bit if they will ever follow through and get me the information I need (and i will update that portion of this if they do)....but I shouldn't have to resort to posting a negative, but honest, review to get someone's attention. * AS PROMISED * Customer Service "D" They did get back to me and issued my credit after my negative review, along with requesting that I change my review. I probably would have changed the "actual" rating instead of my "customer service" rating within this post....but when reading their comment I noticed it said, "Thank you for your feedback and your two orders." I just wish for once a company would just apologize without having to either 1) give me their reason for being wrong, or 2) throwing back in my face that it was positively my error. I was really excited to find this place with a google search I really liked the idea of the different flavored fortune cookies I wanted to order a small batch for my bf for our 5year anniversary. I spoke with Erin on the May 18th and I told her I would need some time to really narrow down what I wanted. I sent my order in on the 18th. From there o was following up with her on a quote I received a response on 23rd and was told I couldn't do the individual notes in all of the flavors I wanted because my order was small but she could send me samples of the flavors which I was perfectly fine with. I found Fancy Fortune Cookies on the Internet and was excited to see that they had unusual cookies to chose from and I could have a fortune message on both sides for an additional fee. They were pricey but I wanted to stand out at a Trade Show/Marketing Network Event potential clients were attending. There were 6 countries chosen as food themes for this event. I was given China so the fortune cookies were perfect. When the 200 cookies arrived I reached in the box so I could taste them and also see how my fortune message looked. To my surprise there was no fortune inside. Reached further into the box for another one only to find that it also didn't have a fortune. Called them immediately, left a voicemail, no call back so the next day towards the end of the day called again. This time someone answered. She assured me the fortunes were printed but she would look into it. Told me they always ship extra in case of breakage. She emailed me the following day to sat that the fortunes were put into the cookies and that they sent 34 extra so there shouldn't be a problem with coming up with 200 that had fortunes. This wasn't acceptable. Three days later the COO, Fairy Godmother, Cookie Impresario emailed me to say that sometimes the machine misses putting a fortune in, everybody who makes them has this problem and that they sent me $49.00 worth of cookies for free in the shipment so that should taht care of my inconvenience. ( Don't forget they said they always send extra for breakage) I replied, How embarrassing is it going to be for me when these potential customers open up the cookie in front of me and there isn't a fortune in it? ( we all look forward to reading our fortunes) Well, I lost count of how many did not have fortunes in them. I had extras and so far 2 out of 3 have no fortune when opened. Mine is about the same as Matthews below. I received a nasty email from the company though two days after I placed the order and was full of lies. 1st lie - they stated that the groupon clearly stated it wasnt good until after Feb 14th - Called groupon and they said that is not the case and they will also contact Fancy Fortune Cookies about this, I have also a screen shot from the screen when purchasing the groupon that said it is good the day after purchase. 2nd lie - They stated that their website "clearly" showed the cookies being out of stock - I also have printed screen shots of ALL of the screens when placing my order and not one says anything about being out of stock or any warning that my order would not arrive the next day. (I paid $29.00 in shipping for next day). Also, the only place on the website I could find anything about being out of stock was if I clicked 1 of the at least 50 links on their page. I thought a giant fortune cookie with a sweet message would be a unique gift for the birthday of a long distance friend who had just gotten out of the hospital. I wanted the cookie to arrive on a Monday, so on the Thursday prior to, I spoke with Erin and asked her what steps I needed to take to make sure it arrived on that day. I placed the order, which wasn't cheap given the mandatory overnight shipping fee. On Monday, I checked to see if it had arrived, it hadn't and it didn't show up all week. The website showed that my order was still "processing." I called to check on my order and was told that it wasn't in the back and had never even been put together.
