Was referred to Masha's by my sister and her best friend. I'm always open to support small businesses so even though this location isn't close to me, I wanted to ensure I support. I emailed the information that was provided to me and received a response right away. I really had no vision for the cake I wanted to order so asked her to provide me with an idea. She did and it was an excellent suggestion. In order to reserve you must pay half down which is done electronically and you pay the other portion a couple days before pick up. When I arrived to pick up the cake you simply pull up and she brings it out to your car. Quick easy and painless. The customer service is a 10/10 and I very much recommend this place. I first had the pleasure of being introduced to this business at the Yelp Sweet 16th Birthday. They made cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and other sweet treats. They were wonderful! Marsha was such a ray of sunshine and happy to tell everyone about her business. Forward to December 2020. I ordered one of their Christmas cookie kits. It came in a nice metal tin with a lid, an assortment of sugar cookies, piping bags full of icing with some that even had different tips on them to add different textures! They were full and didn't skimp on the icing. That was a plus! They included all of the cute little touches you could add to your cookies, little carrots for Frosty's nose, shimmery sprinkles, mini M&M's for the Christmas lights cookies to name a few of the little small touches that add so much to the cookies. They even included a little spreader to spread out your icing making it easier to use than a standard knife. This is a family owned business and they love what they do! You can tell in their products and they're so nice and friendly! Not only do they sell baked goods they also cater! I bought a sugar cookie decorating kit in order to attend a Yelp zoom event . Making the purchase to attend the event was not required, but I'm very glad I did! For only $20, we got 10 large sugar cookies, piped bags of colored icing, three decorator tips, and multiple candy sprinkles/decor, all clearly labeled. I had such a fun time in this whole event. This was one of the best Yelp Zooms (and I 've been on some great ones!) I was delighted to see the kit and all the care that was clearly taken in putting them together, which set the tone for the entire experience. Clearly Chef Marsha thoroughly well thought this out, knowing which cookie we would start with and now to decorate them and perfectly timed how we would spend our hour together. I bought a cookie decorating kit from Marsha's Specialty Desserts for a Yelp virtual event. This is one of those times when I am glad that I make the effort to do these kinds of things, because I get to be introduced to amazing places like Marsha's and the hard-working, talented people who are behind them. So, thanks to Yelp for setting the stage, and thanks to Marsha's for existing so I could have an excuse to decorate and eat delicious cookies. I ordered my goodies online from their website, and then I pulled up to their shop on my designated day and time. Marsha's is tucked around the corner from a liquor store, and you might not be able to see the shop from the street, so just enter the parking lot where the liquor store is and you'll find it off to the right. Due to the ongoing pandemic, I don't believe they are allowing many people inside the store, but I didn't even have to think about that: Someone (Marsha, perhaps?) saw me arrive and came out to my car, masked and friendly, ready to help me. She asked me my name and got my cookie kit and brought it to my car. So easy! Let's just fast-forward to me eating the cookies, OK? Because that's the important part. The cookies are delicious! They are dy-no-mite. Marsha's makes the type of soft, pliable sugar cookies that you actually want to EAT, not just decorate and take a picture of for Instagram. (Although, these cookies also make for Insta-worthy photos, too.) Even the next day, the cookies were still scrumptious. Yum. Now I want sugar cookies ... And they thought of every little detail for the kit, including clearly labeling what all the little extras were for. But even though the statement refers to the six family members who work here and are owners, the meaning of family runs much deeper than just words. I had the pleasure of being introduced to Marsha Q and her mother at a recent Yelp event (Yelp's 15th Birthday Bash.) After a brief introduction about herself and her family business, we all got to ask questions. I asked about being able to walk in and buy fresh baked items and was told yes, I could stop by, but that there would only be a limited supply of things for sale to the general public. However, if I wanted to get something specific, to be sure to call in advance to make sure they had the availability to complete an order. The owners were gracious in their demeanor and the treats they brought to the event were quickly devoured. One of the things I try to do is make a follow up visit to vendors who provide free goodies at Yelp events as a way to say thank you for their stories and generosity. So, with my wife and three of my grandchildren in tow, we stopped by on a Wednesday morning and both Marsha and her mother were working that day. I let them know that I appreciated their participation in the event and they seemed genuinely flattered. Each of the grandkids picked a Halloween cake pop and though there wasn't much else set out, Marsha let me know she had just taken out a batch of sugar cookies and some cupcakes. I asked for some of each. She even asked what type of frosting I wanted on the cakes (butter cream). She went in the back and prepped them and boxed them for our trip home. While she worked in the back, her mother shared stories about the display cakes that were in the front of the space. She also reminded us of how they once made 8000 cupcakes for when Indy hosted the SuperBowl! Just a note: The bakery isn't set up as a standard bakery retail place with large counters of items on display. Rather, it is a little random with items over here, and some over there. But you just have to ask what's available. If you are willing to take a chance, then drop in. Otherwise call in advance. Before I wrap up, I mentioned how family was mentioned in the owner's business statement. When I walked in, I was greeted and made to feel like I was part of the family. They obviously love what they do and wanted to make sure that my family was happy with the items we chose. That's something you don't see in a lot of places. I'm thankful I don't live nearby because I'd probably be piling on the pounds if I did. The cake pops are solid and the mini caramel apple pies are absolutely divine. I tried Marsha's cookies for a virtual class. From start to finish everything was great. Marsha's is a hidden gem in Avon, run by the whole family. Due to Covid they are running as an online bakery or allowing one person at a time. I opted for online ordering and it ran smoothly. There was an option for curbside pickup. One of the family members brought everything out to me right as I rolled up. It was tempting to tear into the cookies right away, but alas reason took over and I waited for the class. You can they pride in their goods. Everything was delicious. Best of all: buttercream icing for the sugar cookies instead of royal icing. I bought a cookie decorating kit so I could participate in a yelp event and was very pleased. I love all the way in Westfield so opted to have my kit shipped. First everything tasted great, was labeled correctly and was so so cute. I loved the that cookies were like a perfected version of something homemade. They were some of the best sugar cookies I've had. The icing was delish as well. I loved that it too tasted like something my favorite auntie would make. Perfect! If I could suggest one thing , it would be to somehow package the cookies a little tighter. Unfortunately a couple of mine were broken. Not that it mattered really, my 8 year old suggested I use some of the icing as glue...it sort of worked but my 8 year old felt like a hero. This is a business you just WANT to shop from. This is not a walk in type of bakery. It's strictly a place an order and in a few days you can pick it up. That's all the lady answering the phone had to say. The person answering the phone cannot understand and clearly doesn't know how to communicate. I called and asked what items do you have available and ready for purchase within the hour or by the end of today. That's crystal clear. Instead of saying we have nothing, she says go to her website. I asked if the website shows everything you can make or everything that is physically available to purchase today in stock. The lady was all over the place with her responses and it was like pulling teeth to get the info out of her. She eventually got rude and hung up. Business owners need to do some spot checks on people working for them to ensure they are representing your business well. If people can't get basic clear info without an attitude then they will move on, which is what I'm doing. read more
