I've never had anything but fantastic service here. I love that Fancy Nails and Lashes is family owned. Hannah, Jody, and Dau are my go to for lashes, nails, and pedicures. The establishment is clean and everyone is super friendly, often going out of their way to accommodate even when they are super busy. I had an appointment with Hannah who is the owner of the shop who did my cat eye nails. I arrived only 5 minutes late I sit in the chair she was at someone's feet she got up and went to someone else's feet and didn't say anything to me. I got up and I left. I work nights so when I set my appointments I have to make sure that I'll have time to get my nails done so that I can make it in on time. She did reschedule me an appointment but I didn't make that appointment. Now this was a mishap on my part. Because of that she would never respond to me I went into the shop to see if I could get my nails done. They claim that she was on vacation due to an emergency and she was the only one that could do the gel nails. I have continued to text her and she would not respond I called her and she hung up three times in my face. I blocked the number and called back and Hannah the owner answered the phone. I told her we are both adults this was so unprofessionally handled if she no longer wanted to provide a service to me she had that right and all she had to do was say so. To be disregarded in such a manner is rude unprofessional and racist to me. This could have been handled in a different way. I suggest that you not deal with her find you a nail salon that understands that things happen just as you want your clients to wait on you you should be able to understand when a mishap happens with your clients as well. She told me that I was picky so maybe that's why I'm no longer someone she wants to do nails for. Nails aren't cheap anymore and you should be able to ask to have them done exactly how you want them without walking out looking a mess. So even with my pickiness I pay for what I want and I was respectful with all my requests. Too bad Hannah the owner of Fancy nails couldn't do the same! read more

The people have always been nice but unfortunately the service is subpar. I don't know how two days later my gel is now chipping off but it is. And the last time I came in I had to come back the next day because they had put too many layers on. I'll come back in the distant future to see if they've improved at all but I'll take my business elsewhere. The polish they use just isn't it. read more

HORRIBLE!! Went to this place for Halloween nails, and they were terribly rude about what I wanted. They did a horrible job with the acrylics and design. I was complete disappointed and did not want to pay $37 for what they gave me. DO NOT GO HERE if you have the choice. read more

Horrible. Got a French shellac manicure and the guy was totally rushing despite there being only 3 customers there on a Sunday afternoon. He didn't have me wash my hands after he filed my nails and painted right over it with clear. There are white streaks in the clear part, the white line is completely uneven, and there were spots missing white paint. I asked them to fix a few of the worst nails and when they did they just globed white paint on and it doesn't match the rest of the nail. I will never go there again. Please don't let those older reviews interfere with your decision to try Fancy Nails. Newer owners took over a year ago. The service, employees and owners are great. If you have a valid issue with the service you received, they will fix it. But I have never had a bad experience! I have been going to Fancy for over a year and will not be going any where else. read more

I stopped in on a whim to try this place out as it's located next to my tanning salon and my nails were in pathetic shape. It was able to get in immediately and the gentleman who did my manicure did a great job - he was meticulous and I had a great arm/hand massage. I opted for non-shellac as I'm trying to give my nails a break - the owner (I believe) asked me why I didn't want shellac and I told her the above reason, and rather than pressing me, she only stated that shellac would last longer (which I am aware).The salon was clean and bright with relaxing spa music playing. My only disappointment is that the prices were not posted - I assumed they'd be priced similar as other salons, which they were but that would be my only suggestion. read more

Nails came up within two days. Terrible. No one speaks English. I like culture but come on...!

No stars if I could. Got a fill & it was terrible. I had one nails broke & he made it way shorter than all the others. All shaped differently & acrylic was uneven. Had a lady finish them off & asked her if she could file them down all the same length & shape. She then files one hand & was going to leave the other until I asked her to file the other hand... Worst place I have ever been to! Never going back there again! They were also extremely rude to my friend who was also getting her nails done every color she asked if she could get they said they didn't have it & were rude when she asked to fix some nails. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! I went with a couple friends and had never been to this salon before and will never go back! I had a pedicure and a full set dip. The pedicure went alright in the start but there is absolutely no packages to choose from just a $40 dollar pedicure they do on everyone. The nail tech didn't even exfoliate the dead skin cells. In which they then put so much oil on my legs i had to use dawn dish soap to get it off and it stained my leather interior. I ended up picking a color that didn't show up well so she grabbed me a different color. When she did she didn't wipe off the other color instead painted on top of it. I should've stopped right there but instead I got my full set dip and when I say she put 5 coats of dip powder.. There were 5 coats of dip powder making my nails huge and fat. Which in contrary to belief 5 coats do not save the nails from coming off. They make it worse and my nails came off in a week. I don't know where they got their training but they obviously need it again. I did have her put tip extenders on as my nails were quite short. The nails were all over the place from there. After putting 5 coats and saying she was going to even out the nails and shape them she ended up giving me to someone else because I was trying to tell her that my nails were uneven. The next lady tried her best to correct the situation but there are now flat spots on my nails from where she put the dip powder to connect the tip extender which looks awful and I have never had anywhere else. The nails are still uneven even after constantly telling them they were uneven.. The whole experience was awful and if I could I would give them a -10 for the awful service. I am not the type of person to complain but if it helps another poor soul I will try to help. read more

Three of us went for manis and pedis. My nails turned out great as did another girl. But the third one turned out pathetic. She ended up having to file them down and reshape them. The leg massages were nice. They were very friendly but had a very hard time understanding what we wanted. I walked-in hoping for a pedicure. Everybody was quick to help and make me feel welcome, offering me beverages. They took their time duping my pedicure even though others were waiting--I appreciated that they gave me the service I was paying for. The massage was the best I've gotten while getting a pedicure and this was the most reasonably priced pedicure I've found in the Des Moines area. You can only tip in cash, though, which is the only downfall. read more
