When my appointment date came, I had to wait longer than I expected for a remote Doctor to come onto a small TV screen to do my final eye exam. I am 53 years old and have been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 11. Not my first rodeo. TV Doc tells me that somehow in the last year I have developed a pretty significant astigmatism in my left eye. What? Okay, we try some lenses and they send off for my new pair of very expensive glasses. For reference, my vision is awful and I am so nearsighted that I cannot see without glasses/contacts...usually a -5.50 in each eye. Add this girl turning 50 and you might as well hand me a damn walking stick. I cannot see! Anyway. My contact RX was so wrong. I picked up my glasses and they were absolutely meant for someone else I think?? This has been a mess and I have been back multiple times. John has no longer been nice and helpful. He did tell me that TV Doctor is no longer doing exams there. Wonderful. But he did my exam. WTF? They have not offered to do anything to help. They have shown nothing but frustration even though I am the one that is having to go back and forth with John trying to tell him what my RX should be. I am blind, screwed, and quite frankly very unhappy.

John always takes care of me and my husbands eye ware needs. First and foremost, they took my insurance, well my prior vision insurance (as my company now changed insurance this year, but that's another conversation for another day), and that in itself is a godsend. There weren't a lot of practices taking my insurance. Then, there's the caveat that the ones that were weren't taking new patients, and if they were, it was quite some time ahead. Big Bend managed to get me in within a couple of weeks for my annual check-up. That said, finding this place was a little difficult as the GPS did not want to cooperate. Luckily there are big signs outside that are easy to see. Everyone at the office was really nice, but more impressive still is the fact that I did not have my pupils dilated given all the new technology they have. I walked out of there with my prescription for both glasses and contacts sans problem. They even recommended a LASIK place to me. Overall, I liked my experience there. Dr. Malone was personal and professional, and she just made me feel at ease. Here's hoping my new vision insurance is taken by them when the time comes. I don't want to go through the ordeal of finding another eye doctor in Tallahassee.

I want to write an honest review that doesn't sound like I'm lashing out -- but I am frustrated. I…read morefeel like any time I bring up a concern, my doctor seems offended or dismissive, and that makes it hard to speak up. I'm a computer programmer and stare at screens all day. I get frequent headaches and often feel like I'm straining just to see text clearly. During eye exams, when I say that none of the lens options look sharp, she still chooses the one that's closest to my old prescription -- saying she doesn't want to "make my eyes worse" by increasing it. But if I'm constantly straining to see, doesn't that make things worse too? I've had a lower-strength prescription in the past that gave me better clarity than what I have now. perhaps the eye straining is what is making it worse. but to her, she says it's still the same. I don't want to ignore her advice, but I also don't want to keep walking away from appointments feeling like I'm not being heard, and again needing to strain my eyes until next year where the same thing happens all over again. I'm considering seeing another doctor just to get a second opinion.

Paul is an amazing and caring optician. When I called to see if they were doing any sort of online appointments, he said they had not and then asked what the problem was. When I told him he gave me his cell number and asked me to FaceTime him. Wow. That's great customer service. We did FaceTime and he immediately saw the problem and told me how to fix it. I thought I had, but later that night realized I had not. So I called the next day and asked if I could come and see him. He said absolutely. I shared my concern about getting too close to people. I knew they were all wearing masks, but I asked if he would be willing to wear a face shield. He said absolutely. I went there and everything was socially distanced. And Paul came out to meet me with a face shield on. He took my glasses and fixed them in under 5 minutes. That, my friends, is wonderful service. And it is awesome that Paul and the folks at Tallahassee Eye Center care so much about the feelings and concerns of their patients.

My husband had an eye exam with Rebecca Rudolfer on 12/15/23. He ordered glasses at Costco on…read more2/06/24. The glasses were his first pair of progressive lenses, so he initially didn't realize the prescription was wrong; thinking he just had to get used to them. After trying them for several weeks, he realized they were not usable, and went back to Costco, thinking they had made a mistake. They informed him that the glasses matched the prescription, and the prescription must be wrong. He then called and spoke to a young woman at the RDR Optometric office, explained the issue, and asked for a the prescription to be looked at to find the problem. She was very rude and refused, saying an issue could only be fixed for 60 days after the exam, due to company policy. We had no reason to think there was any rush to order glasses. Your website says "Eyeglass prescriptions typically expire after two years". There is no mention of a 60 day warrantee for the exam, and he got the glasses made within 60 days anyway. (Costco's receipt says the prescription expires 12/14/28). He paid $149 for a prescription that is wrong, and another $215.98 for glasses he can't use. He is disabled and has a hard time getting out for appointments, and now he has wasted his time and energy for the original appointment, and made three trips to Costco. We wrote to RDR and explained this, and no one has gotten back to us, after almost a month.

The staff was wonderful, the sanitizing was impeccable, there were many extra precautions that made me feel comfortable and safe . The staff and doctor were extremely great with my son. We were also instructed to call back on the first of every month to try to get an appointment. We did exactly that--twice--with no appointment available. Then we were told to call back on the 8th. Today we set aside time once again, called as instructed, and were suddenly told they don't accept Medicaid at all. This is after months of being assured they did. It's extremely frustrating, a complete waste of time, and unacceptable for a provider that is still listed on the Medicaid provider list. I have documentation showing they previously confirmed Medicaid acceptance, so this isn't a misunderstanding. I will not be recommending this office to anyone in the Tallahassee area, and I will also be notifying Medicaid so they can be removed from the provider list.
