I had the fried seafood platter. Overall good but fried is not the best judge. It did come with a sampling of gumbo and etoufee. Pretty poor showing on both. The food here is delish! If you're looking for authentic Cajun food, you got to try this place. It's hidden in a an area right off the highway. So busy and packed. Place is a little old and hole in the wall like. Service is great and friendly. Food is always delish. Prices are affordable. Vautrot's is one on those places you go to for the food and atmosphere, not because of the exterior. It's destination dining. It needs to be, because there's little population in the area. Located on the highway between Beaumont and Sour Lake, near the turnoff to one of the most flooded subdivisions in the Golden Triangle (Bevil Oaks), you'd go to this area mostly to eat here. The specialty: Cajun seafood. They have other things too, like po'boys, chicken fried steak, even burgers. Then you have the option of finishing it off with a drool-worthy dessert that puts two inches on your waist just by looking at it. The Hunny and I were told about Vautrot's by long-time friends of hers, and we all booked a Friday night to eat here. They reopen at 5, and there was a line of people waiting to get in. I had catfish & onion rings, and the Hunny had the shrimp meal, both are slightly over $15. Well cooked, moist, good taste. Coonies would be able to say if it's authentic cooking for catfish and shrimp, it didn't have the famous SWLA spice, but it sure was good. The dining area is more upscale than the building, so don't let the humble exterior turn you off. It's for eating only, no live band, no dancing. Wait staff is friendly, helpful, and never lets your drinks run out. I like Vautrot's. A lot. Sartin's has been closed for years, so I hope Vautrot's takes its place as THE premier seafood restaurant in Beaumont. If that happens, they're gonna need a bigger building. read more

I love their Pirogue burger, club sandwich, and onion rings!! My mom loves their burgers as well!! She also enjoys the fried oysters! Our family enjoys the Boudain balls for an appetizer. My teenage son, my husband, and my dad all enjoy the grilled fish on a bed of rice. Ask for extra seasoning in the rice for an added treat. My dad likes the grilled veggies when they're available. We went into Beaumont today to run some errands and we decided we would do lunch at Vautrot's. We know the seafood and Gumbo at Vautrot's is delicious no matter what you order!! So today we decided to try the Chicken fried Steaks based on reviews we've read about those! When we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated as usual here. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and she was very friendly and outgoing! When she got back with our drinks we ordered a couple of appetizers to start. I ordered some of their Bottle Caps, or fried Jalapeno slices as they had had trouble getting them during our last couple of visits after the Covid fiasco. We also ordered some of the fried Alligator for our 7 year old. Both were very good as suspected!!! We then ordered our Chicken fried Steaks, I ordered the large portion with mashed potatoes and a side salad. My wife ordered the small portion with mashed potatoes and a salad. Our 7 year old had to have his cheeseburger and fries! We always love coming here as the decorations and the ambience inside makes you feel very comfortable to be here and the people are always friendly and helpful. I will say that the reviews were read on the chicken fried steaks were right on point!!! It is probably the best chicken fried steak in the area! They were both cooked to perfection and batter covered the meat perfectly. Some places you go the meat shrinks in the cooking batter so you get a bunch of fried batter and very little steak. Went here with all the extended family over the holiday weekend. Due to the size of our party my Aunt made reservations ahead of time. The place is a simple and homey kind of feel to it. We shared a few orders of Boudain Balls $5.95 (5pcs) and Alligator Bites $5.95 (8cps). The Alligator was alright, kind of chewy but their dipping sauce was good. The Boudain "balls" I am pretty sure are actually a cut up link. These were pretty good though especially with their homemade ranch. For my entrée I got Uncle Emrick's Seafood Sampler $21.95. This comes with shrimp gumbo, crawfish e'touffee, fried crawfish, fried catfish, fried shrimp, 1 side and a salad. The e'touffee and the fried shrimp were my favorites. The e'touffee had a great flavor and the fried shrimp were colossal. The gumbo was just okay, not as flavorful as my brother's. I personally do not car for catfish and the fried crawfish was okay but nothing special. For the side I got French fries and they were real good, had that double fry crispiness and addicting quality to them. The salad was simple but good with cubed cucumber, shredded carrots, lettuce and croutons. Used their homemade ranch for the dressing as well. The pricing is great for the quality of food and definitely for the amount. I would gladly go back anytime! read more

First time to Vautrot's. Excellent choice. I arrived for late lunch with an old friend. We lost track of time and realized we were the only ones left for the 2pm closing time (they reopen for dinner). The staff was so polite with our loitering. Our apologies! We tried the Cajun: A combo of any 2 seafoods. The fried catfish and fried shrimp were excellent. Same for the okra, mashed potatoes, seasoned fries. The side salad was very generous. Everything was So tasty, I ordered chicken fried chicken and Cole slaw to take home to hubby. Plus a slice of chocolate cake and strawberry cake. Very moist! From the little hole in the wall, than after rebuilding at least three times after devastating floods, and a fire...they are still there and even BETTER! Rebuilt and serving some of the best Cajun food in Southeast Texas. On March 6, 2014 I had their crawfish étouffée for lunch. It came with a salad for $12.95. It was very good with a slight buttery after taste to the étouffée. It came in a large bowl and was full of shrimp, veggies and rice. It was different in that it was almost soupy with the étouffée 'gravy'. I am used to it being over a bed of rice and eaten with a fork. This étouffée required a spoon. Like I said it was very good and I would give it a 5. This is an excellent restaurant where you are assured a very good meal no matter what you order. The only slight negative is that it is about 7 miles from Beaumont but it is well worth the drive even if you are just passing through Beaumont. From I 10 it is about an 8 minute drive. I have eaten here twice and realize that this restaurant is worth a 5 star rating. It really is that good. Go eat here and you will leave happy!!! read more

This place is out of the way, but I would go back. I had their shrimp étouffée, and it was decent, but their strawberry cake!!!! The waiter gave me a huge slice, and it tasted like heaven! I have been dreaming about it ever since. My friend got a slice of chocolate cake and really liked it as well. They have multiple other flavors too.
