Met the new Manager, Nichole. She's so great. A very nice and clean Fannie May. The chocolates are delicious as always. Thanks!

Upon walking in you immediately know you're going to love the place. It's so cute and cozy. There is indoor and outdoor seating, cute decor, and chocolate galore. 2. I ordered the drinkable hot chocolate. It was good, although a little thick. I would have wanted a bit of almond milk to thin it a bit but I loved how rich it was. My daughter also got the kids chocolate frappe (I think that's what it was called) she loved it! 3. We received one free truffle each since it our first time there. We ordered the mint, vanilla bean, and turtle truffles. I also ordered the sea salt caramel truffle and my daughter got a gaming boy stick chocolate. So cool. 4. We also tried their cookies so tasty! 5. The lady working was sooooo sweet. Omg, she truly was. I'm so sorry I didn't get her name but she made us feel welcome (almost everyone in Wisconsin made us feel that way) and she was no different. What a pleasant experience as we headed back home. Highly recommend that you drop in when you are in the Madison area!

There's a nice short walk around the pond across the street. Perfect with a warm cup of coffee.

Oh rats! I was hoping this place'd be better…read more.. Driven past this on roadtrips many a time; decided to actually stop in and check it out on the most recent trip. I'd been drawn in by the silly rodent statue on top of the building, because I like touristy shops. Upon entry I immediately realized the place was kind of dingy and gross. We got there with about half an hour 'til closing and this fact certainly showed in the affect of all the employees. I was curious about sampling some of the cheeses, but all of the employees were apparently too busy getting ready to close to help us, so we didn't get to try any of the many varieties. It was a bit odd to me to have potential customers there in the store during business hours, and the employees are steadfastly ignoring our presence to turn off the lights and such. We took the hint, quickly used the restroom, made a small courtesy purchase, then left. Speaking of the restroom, the floors were really sticky. Eww. Noticed they had lots of signage up that they were hiring. Yeah, they should probably hire someone who gives AF, if I'm being really honest, cuz it seems to me this place probably was great at one point but has fallen into disrepair. I got a couple pieces of taffy and hubby got a bag of nuts. We could tell from the taste/texture that these items had been sitting for awhile. I'm not a proponent of wasting food, but if your store can't turn products around before they're expired, I recommend perhaps just not selling those things and stick to cheese... Anyway, reckon we'll try out another of the many cheese shops in Wisconsin next time we drive through. There's certainly plenty to choose from!

Not to mention it was quite popular! I loved the selection of hot chocolate options and the translation for each. However I wasn't very impressed by the French one I ordered (dark chocolate plus vanilla). It was good but not as decadent as I was anticipating and even with 30 min to close I asked to dine in but they gave me everything in Togo containers. I also got a Swede sandwich- which was ham, Swiss and Dijon mustard. Nothing to write home about. It was very very average. However I did get an almond cookie with chocolate ganache which was fantastic. Sitting at a table in this shop and looking at all the treats was great. I have a feeling if I come back at an earlier time this place could really blow me away, but as of right now. It's mid. I'm not impressed and what was left at the end of the day was just average. Also the three items cost me about $20 so I would say this place Is on the pricer end

Their selection is better than any big box store (including the nearby Joann) and they have the boxes/packing for all your needs. I started my baking company a year ago and Vanilla Bean has been everything I wanted and needed. They keep a stock for all the upcoming holidays and have a wall of cookie cutters of everything you could possibly imagine. Then they have cake and cupcake toppers and plastic characters for parties and milestones also ok that wall. They have a huge selection of flavors and food coloring -- both are highest quality. Their gel colors have been my saving grace! Also, all of their tools, accessories, little things you can use are available. It makes this an awesome place to explore for any baking enthusiast. When I was in the State fair, Vanilla Bean had the cake dummies (styrofoam) I needed and at cheaper prices than Joann or online. They also have all the boxes and cake rounds for the bases that you could need. They also have pans for shaped cakes and characters. It's one of my favorite places in Madison -- go visit!
