Candinas is a local chocolatier. I had the opportunity to try their chocolates on a recent visit to Madison, WI, courtesy of Epic. On our last day of training, each student received a small box of these delectable chocolates that melted in your mouth upon contact and the smooth taste lingered but did not overpower my taste buds. There is Epic lore that the CEO and founder of Epic had a disagreement with a medical executive, and years later, he came back with his tail between his legs. The CEO said a box of chocolates and all would be forgiven. Maybe they were these very chocolates! Hopefully, I'll be able to visit the store on my next trip to Wisconsin! read more

DO NOT order from Candinas. My chocolates were sent back because the private shipping service Candinas uses said the recipient didn't live at the address I listed, which is false. Worst of all, I only found this out after I emailed Candinas asking why the chocolates had not yet arrived -- Candinas never emailed me letting me know there had been a problem. Furthermore, after this whole debacle, I was told I'd have to pay the shipping fee for a replacement box of chocolates. It was only after I complained that Candinas offered to send a new box for free, meaning I will still have paid full price (for the original chocolates + shipping) despite the fact that these chocolates will arrive two weeks late and the fact that I had to exchange numerous emails with Candinas to figure out what happened to my order. Long story short: terrible customer service. Take your business elsewhere. read more

The candy is delicious. The ordering to be shipped process is lacking. Not only is it very expensive, they completely disregard your preferred delivery date. I ordered early and requested week of 21st delivery. They sent it evening of the 16th. Then, I was informed that the delivery request information was not noted, when with every bit of certainty I chose "week of 21st". I will not do business here again. They failed and failed to make it right. All they had to do was accept the mistake and apologize. read more

Amazing amazing chocolates. Customer service is beyond outstanding. When I'm in the area, I go here and buy as much as I can justify ("it's to take home as gifts", yeah, right). Awhile back I ordered multiple boxes as end-of-year teacher's gifts (I really liked my kids' teachers). They arrived well cushioned in cardboard with shredded stuff. Problem was, it had been a tad warm, so the chocolates along one side of each of maybe two boxes were melted. I called them and told them what happened. They sent me TWO NEW BOXES. They didn't want to use insulated shipping containers (a green thing), but the second box, well, it worked and they'd obviously put some effort in to it. Their prices are very reasonable for the best chocolate in the universe, and I've made some hefty comparisons. Oh, and if you go here to buy stuff, they GIVE YOU SAMPLES. Woohoo! read more

The most amazing chocolate ever! When my husband was trying to woo me he had a gigantic box sent to me in LA, needless to say a man that would send something so delicious won me over. This place has been here for a while and anytime I come home I have to go to the original location located in my hometown of Verona. It's a little like stepping into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Walking through the front door with its' large "C" handle and heading to the counter to get your sample is incredibly fun. I only wish there was a location here in LA. read more

The best chocolate in the Madison area, in my mind. Delicious fillings, amazing chocolate exterior, and really friendly folks willing to let you sample whatever you'd like. There is usually no line so you can take your time and chat with the salesperson at the desk about what you'd like. They have 2 piece, 6 piece, 9 piece, and 18 pieces. Mixed with nuts and mixed with no nuts. Pricey, but delicious and worth the price tag. read more

I came upon this business as I was using the entrance to turn around. From the outside it sort of reminded me of a medical clinic so I wasn't going to give it much thought, though the people leaving the establishment made me take notice of the business sign on the entrance. The woman at the front counter was very nice and knowledgeable about the chocolates they sell. It wasn't a very impressive display case though. All they had were boxes in there and one had the box lid open showing the chocolates. I was hoping for more of a tray of chocolates with the name and maybe describing what they were. If I may, I would like to give you a little background on my relationship with Candinas. My late husband discovered Candinas in Consumer Reports in 2003 and had been ordering Chocolates from this store during the remaining years of his life. After his passing I picked up the torch and sent chocolates to his four siblings across the country every Christmas, So now we have this a mishap where the address is not deliverable because I missed a number typing in my address. Spee-Dee delivery and Candinas nevery picked up the phone to call me, even though I have made inquiries regarding the status of the order. Is this customer service? I am extremely disappointed. Needless to say I did not receive my order in time for the holiday and my only option per Candinas was to pay again for shipping to the correct address. I recommend they get a better delivery company. The chocolates are very good. read more

These chocolates are the best I have ever tasted. This is saying a lot. The box is beautiful and it completes the experience. There is no map included, but every single concoction is its own experience...from subtle herbal overtones to gooey caramel. A houseguest (friend of my daughter) brought a box to me from Verona, and I am hooked. They give a whole new appeal to the idea of staying home and eating bonbons. read more

I agree with what most have written.. I went to purchase a box for valentines and they are by far the finest chocolate ever. Beautiful and consistent--( does not look like something that your old aunt made and put in a homemade "crafty" box) Madison should be proud we have one of the countries best trained Chocolatier right here@!! .. He introduced our market to chocolate and it is no surprise his has national accolades.... ( No Internet training for the Swiss Chocolatier) You can 't buy these anywhere but at one of his shops or off his web page, so you are guaranteed they have not been sitting in the plastic case on a counter getting stale. (( Who wants to buy their chocolates from a dish store??) They are not as flashy as a few in town, but let the chocolates speak for themselves. Pure, no preservatives, waxes or additives. read more
