We took a cave tour with Richard & Reba. Reba told the jokes & Richard was incredibly hospitable & kind. My biggest complaint is they do not stand by what they claim. Their web page boasts about no walking. Get out & walk on. It's a little over a half mile of walking. And when you have a mobility issue it's quite complicated and a long walk. read more

I'm really confused why this place gets such great reviews. Maybe if you have never been in a cave, this might be a good first. For those with any cave experience, the tour is amateur hour. Our tour guide stopped the ride every few feet and talked to us like toddlers. There were tons of what she called "technical difficulties" which amounted to half the tour being in the dark. The dark wagon ride led us to a dead end where we watched the dumbest film known to humankind. On the way back, the cave lights were back on and the cave itself was beautiful. However, it was extremely molested by tourism and everyone was touching the cave walls, stalactites and stalagmites. What the? Who allows this? There were lots of manmade constructions in the cave - benches, roads, platforms, and a large screen for the film. If you've been to great caves, this one is NOT for you. $25 per person? Ridiculous. And I'm not even docking it for the uncomfortable wagon and the kid who elbowed me the entire ride. On the bright side, the billboards and signage touting this place's grandeur was exceptional. We had a moment of looking for something to do while it was cold and rainy so we decided to go to the cave. I have explored many caves and this one being a drive through was different. Cave was beautiful and the guide was friendly. We were the only ones on the tour so we got the extra attention. Enjoyed the drive through part but would have liked to hike the trail but it is closed right now because of a flood that washed out the bridge. Other than that had a great time. read more

Probably the best drive-through cave i have ever been too ( but i have never been out side the U.S. And this is the only one here lol) I liked it very much but i do like the walking ones better , the tour guide was great and the jeeps ride pretty good for what they are. They are ran on propane so there is not a lot of exhaust smell. If you like to ask questions seat in the front seat and ask. I stopped here and really didn't expect too much. The tours were pretty regular so just had to wait 20 minutes for the next one. A jeep carrying carts picked us up and I got to ride shotgun. Our guide, Casey, gave an entertaining talk mixed in with some humor and her own personal tidbits on caving. During the tour, we got to see a few bats and alot of stalagmites and stalactites. The jeep barely fit in some spots but our driver was very good. We made a turn back at the very end of the auditorium. There were photos available at the end but didn't think it was worth it. The gift shop staff mentioned about going down a path to see a stream. So, I followed it and got a nice short hike in. The coat is $28.00 for Gen Admission kids less.Tours are every 20 minutes and inside temperature is 60 degrees year round. Lots of history and the Cave is amazing the best I've ever seen. It was fun. It's probably really fun if you're still a kid and are fascinated with caves and their contents. The tour is your group being pulled through in a wagon with a Jeep. There are lots of stops and explanations of what you're seeing. Pitch black time and a view with old-timey candle lantern. We enjoyed it. It's a one-time thing to do. Amazing hidden area! Went during the month of May while family was visiting! Only waited like 10 minutes from the time we got our tickets. They have an amazing gift shop to look around and purchase for affordable prices. This cavern is great for those with little ones or those who can't walk much since it is a ride on Jeep! Went here specifically because the tour is ride through only, which was very nice. We were able to kind of space out between parties, but they do warn you that 6 foot social distancing is not guaranteed. The caverns are amazing to look at, and the stop where you get to experience total darkness is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I would recommend this place to visitors. As for covid procedures, tons of free hand sanitizer is available with aloe, so very soft on hands. I do wish they would mandate masks be worn and be worn properly at all times. Even the tour guide had her mask off when talking to us, not 6 feet away. Maybe give them a voice projector box so they can address the visitors while still wearing a mask. Otherwise, amazingly informative and entertaining tour guide. The movie at the back of the cave seems very dated, and I would have skipped it if it wasn't mandatory. Would live to see that updated a little, maybe talk more about the cave specific creatures there since we cannot see them live as they are in the lower part of the cave. read more

A Springfield, MO outing classic. Are they really that Fantastic? Only legally, because that's how the business is registered. Place needs to provide education on the history besides a minimal one hour ride through the caverns. Sure the caverns are neat and there's a hiking trail that we didn't get to utilize this time around. Gift shop is underwhelming and contains onyx figures for sale from parts of Mexico, which has nothing to do with the caverns. Major complaint is that the price of admission for adults is a little under $25. That's a bit too steep for a repeated viewing. read more

We lived in Joplin for 5 years and saw the signs for the cavern but never went. We have been back to Missouri for a month and decided why not. I wasn't for sure about the price but it is worth it. The majestic feeling is indescribable. The guides know so much about the cavern. They were able to answer all of our questions. There was even water flowing through when we went. If you go down the spring/canyon trail the water that was in the cave was flowing out at the end of the spring trail. We were even able to take out Boxer Lucy with us. Visited 11/24/18 and it was fantastic! Great way to spend about 50 minutes on the way home from Branson. I have seen the signs for this cave for years and had never stopped but we decided to today and glad we did. The cave is beautiful and you learn a lot about the cave, it's history and how caves like this are formed and work. It was well worth the very scenic short drive off the main road and enjoyable for the whole family. If you have time take a walk down the hiking trail it was very pretty. They also have a very nice picnic area with tables, we would have brought some sandwiches if we had known. read more

I think three stars is being generous. It was a well run set up but over all I thought it was disappointing. Two adults and two kids were $82, yikes. For a stretched out 30 minutes of entertainment. The cave is pretty small and the stories were mildly entertaining but the kids were super bored pretty quickly. I think the cool temperature and the riding in a trailer on a jeep were the high lights for us. I would not go again for sure but for one time it was ok. read more

Although it was the last ride, they did not rush us at all and we even got to ride just the two of us! Our tour guide was a young girl who was so kind and knowledgeable. If you are mobility challenged, this is the cave for you. If this is the first cave you have visited, you may enjoy your visit. But I can handle a hike and some stairs, and this was not my first visit to a show cave. First the price. About $50 for two people for this short tour is way too steep. They have guides, gas, and electricity to pay for, but as many people as we saw pass through here mid day on a Wednesday, they more than have that covered. This is a motorized guided tour. You start in the trailer connected to the Jeep/golf cart, and you end in it. No opportunity to get out and stretch or take pictures. A couple chances to stand for a moment (and you will use them, the hard plastic benches will help motivate you). The tour takes an hour. Most of this is used when your guide stops the ride every 20 feet for some learning time. Some of it was interesting, but when no one has any questions for them they will delay by bantering with the kids while checking their watch. Another chunk of time is used for an "in cave" movie sharing some more historical information about the cave. (On those hard plastic benches...) The cave itself isn't very interesting. Nothing inside it makes it standout from any other cave I've seen. The lighting isn't done very well IMO, or its possible they've done the best they could with what they have to work with. Then there are the enhancements... The suspiciously non-aged declaration on the wall of the cave's discovery (the well pipe has accumulated mineral deposits, but this text is pristine). And the recreated stage from its concert days (No mention during the tour that this wasn't original). I would recommend it to anyone who has never been inside a cave, and doesn't have the ability to walk /climb stairs safely. Everyone else I would recommend you avoid this one. read more

A 50 minute or so jeep (tram) tour through a cave. Some nice formations in the entrance area of the cave. Fun little side trip. The cave isn't very big. This was a really fun and educational tour. Temp inside the cave is a constant 60F which was a nice change from the outside humidity. Since we were driving from Colorado to Florida (with a cat and a dog) we called ahead to see if their pet friendly policy would accommodate us. They were happy to let us bring a leashed dog and the cat was in a soft carrier so that worked. We were also put in the jeep instead of the carriage where everyone else was, so that was pretty nice. I found it odd that people did not tip our guide who offered a combination of funny dad jokes and quirky puns (other tours did not tip theirs either) We were offered the opportunity to purchase a $12 photo of our group in caboose. Although we declined, I would happily donate that $12 to further their programs. Apparantly they offer a lot of school group tours. Well worth the trip if you are passing through Missouri. We came here on a whim... because we were passing through and decided to see what Yelp thought was worth seeing in the area. WE'RE SO GLAD WE CAME! What an amazing experience. The guide was really helpful and answered all our questions without hesitation. We even got to see a few rare bats (made our kids really happy) and experience "total darkness" for a few moments. These caverns are i n c r e d i b l e. Personally, I was glad for the unusual "tram" ride--the frequent stops and explanations of life in the cave were informative and entertaining. Definitely worth your time and the price of admission. The tour guides really love answering questions and they know what they're talking about. As a homeschooling family, this really resonated--because we are not from the area and had a lot of questions. Totally effective marketing of highway signage!!!!! Had no idea this place existed and pulled it up on our phone after seeing multiple signs while driving through the state. SO glad we did! Very much worth making the unexpected stop! Most of our party had hiked caves in the past, but getting driven through one by a friendly and very informative guide was a unique experience---- and a perfect way for first time cavers to see one! My wife came to the caverns early on a Friday morning on the day we were flying back home. We were blessed to fall between two tours with a number of people in them and ended up just us and the tour guide named David in our tour. He was very knowledgeable having been a National Park Ranger and had worked at Carlsbad Caverns for many years. He took his time explaining everything in the cave.
