Yes, there is a train track about 200 yards from the campground -- and it occasionally travels through with horns blaring. (There is a crossing after all.) But my first apartment many years ago was right over the tracks in another town and I learned way back then to find comfort with the rail traffic. It's difficult, impossible really, for me to honestly accuse anyone of overreacting to the nearby trains. What I can say is this: It's not exactly Grand Central Station. If anyone claims they were awakened half a dozen times, I can promise you that such a case is rare ... and perhaps that person needs to participate in a sleep study. But I digress... We were here on June 28-29, 2019 at site #51. Nice site. Short walk to the nicely kempt pool, showers and store. Most importantly, the staff here embodies just about every point of any customer service manual. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

We have been RV owners for 5 years and upgraded from a 33' TT to a 41' 5th wheel after making the reservations for this trip however I contacted the KOA here to ensure we would have a site large enough for our 5th wheel with 4 slides and our long bed dually. We arrived to a site barely big enough for our RV much less our truck (unhooked or hooked). We are proficient rv parking and set up persons so we made it work. The sites are small but have what is promised: concrete patio, fire ring, and full hookups. No issues with hookups. Patio has a drop off which makes it easy for injuries to occur for someone with a disability (myself). We had to place our steps at a weird angle for them to work. There is plenty to do in the park: pool that ranges from 4' to 8' with a large drop off (needs resurfacing), 4 small bikes to rent for $8/hour which is typical of KOA's which we have come to expect from them as we like to ride them as a family (need to service them or invest in newer ones as well as buy more of them), corn hole, laundry room (of course bring quarters & detergent to save $), small game room, nice little store, small playground (please add some swings), 3 small dog parks, a sign stating 5 laps around the perimeter is 2 miles (nice!), cute signs showing Route 66 on them for photo ops, and best of all delicious pizza that can be ordered and delivered right to your campsite! The trains mentioned before do not bear repeating but I will say we joked this KOA should be called planes (Springfield's airport is close by), trains, and automobiles because you can hear all three on a constant rotation. We will not stay here again however it is not bad. Some updates need to occur but overall cute place with nice staff. read more

First things first- train tracks extremely close than run all through the night. But, mini doughnuts are good and a pretty nice campground. Close to an airport, if you like C-130's flying above you (not at night though). Sites could be bigger though. read more

If planes and trains don't bother you this place is perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The camp site as a whole is very clean and well maintained. There was a storm one night and the staff was there first thing the next day cleaning up all the fallen branches from the trees. They also have pizza you can order on site, ours was late one day and they gave us free wings to make up for it even though we didn't complain or care that it was late. If you have a dog they have a huge off leash area where the dogs can run and play as well as several fenced dog parks. read more

If you don't mind paying the highest price for a campsite while trains run by in the middle of the night blowing their horns then look no further....this is your place! Our 30,000 lb motorhome was literally shaking when the second train went by. We love this place. We have stayed here twice - coming and going on a trip to Phoenix. We had our kids and our two dogs with us. Both times late arrival and early departure. Reserving a spot was easy. Staff super friendly. The campground was perfect for us - olenty of room to walk the dogs. Some nice stuff for the kids to do. Overall just an excellent experience - by far the best of four RV parks we stayed in on our trip. read more

Very nice park close to the highway. Check-in was friendly and fast, they guided us to our site which was very helpful. We even had a pizza delivered to our RV also a plus when you've spent the day on the road. The park was clean, all were pull thru sites and we weren't bothered by the train which came by relatively early. Would stay here again. read more

We have been stopping at Koa from las vegas to alabama this was my favorite except for one huge issue about 8 times during the night trains basically barrel through the camp blowing their horns..it was Crazzzy loud..if your a light sleeper and need rest this may not be the best option..we sort of laughed it off as part of the journey..staff was awesome loved the camp ground tons of trees..you can order pizza in the store and they bring it to your rv! read more

Good News: Very nice people, very nice campground, loaded with amenities, extremely helpful staff, clean, pretty, shade. Bad News: I would NEVER stay here again because many times during the night I was slammed awake, adrenalin pumping, by the thunderous pounding of a full-speed, giant-length, freight train. I see now, concealed just beyond the tree line (about 15 car lengths from the campground) the railroad tracks. NOT ONLY did the trains slam through here all night, shaking the ground and rattling windows, but THEY ALL BLASTED THEIR FULL-TILT SCREAMING TRAIN HORNS from the beginning of the campground property until they were about 1/2 mile past it. I tried ear plugs, but they were no match for such closely positioned blasts from air horns and thundering tonnage. Worse, the Springfield (?) airport was launching full-sized jets early in the morning and late at night. This is a great place to hold a waking family event. It's an impossible place to get a good night's sleep. That's sad, too, because the owners are good people and very attentive to your needs. read more

We were also traveling route 66 and stayed here. October 2013 It's very cute, with a pool, nice laundry, gathering area to watch movies. It's clean and has green spaces. They were excellent about a late arrival and had everything prepared and left at the office door as promised. Just a side note- a train runs right next door several times a night. read more

Very clean and well spaced between sites. We had roof top tent thus can pick either non-service or W/E sites, but elect W/E site due to short walk to laundry, bathrooms, showers, games, etc. all tent sites are grassy and fairly flat with ton of shades from big trees around. Bathroom and shower area were clean and well lit. They even provide toilet sit cover which is the first we seen at the campgrounds. Shower stalls have plastic curtain, enough hooks and small plastic chair for ease of use. As we are writing this review, there are couple of instances of rumbling trains with horn blasting through our sites, all within 20-30mins of each other. You can also hear cars zipping by on nearby I-44 between train noises. But with good set of ear plugs, we fall asleep pretty quickly afterward. W/E sites are well below $40 for triple-A members which is a very good thing, plus the friendly and pleasant camp host is always a big plus. read more

What a delightful park! We have a perfect spot. Lots of green grass and lovely tables at the sites. Our site even has a beautiful wooden swing and fire pit. They even make and deliver pizza to your camp site. It was delivered it to our coach. Wonderful place!!! I love trains. My husband worked for the railroad. read more

First I would like to say the campground is clean, we'll maintain and a very good staff. The issue is its location, a train track and RR crossing is next to the grounds. Trains come through all night long about every hour sounding the horn through the crossing. My wife and I worn earplugs, no match for the train horn. It's impossible to sleep. If that's not enough noise, the airport jet approach to the airport comes right over the campground. Jets start at 0530 until 1100. It's too bad, because the grounds are nice. read more

We spent a phenomenal week at this campground! Great, clean facilities with a wonderful whirlygig out front. Perfect central location in the Ozarks, convenient to downtown and the local Walmart. Great pool for the kids, even a play room. Everyone was so pleasant when you entered the store (get the pizza - fresh made!). The best part was the management team. So friendly and welcoming. The male owner was a bit boisterous, but when you realize he wasn't yelling AT you but NEAR you, it was tons of fun. Highly recommended! read more

I am not used to camping in places with electric hook ups and pools so I would have to say this campground is really nice. We enjoyed the pool after a very HOT day on Route 66 and loved having pizza delivered to our campsite by the great staff. I would say as far as campgrounds go this one is pretty great. I am however giving it a 4 star rather then 5 star only due to the price per night was $42.00. I think anything over 30 or 35 to camp is just a bit to much. read more

Management was rude. They yelled at us about having visitors and demanded $5 a person. We said ok. When we went to pay they told us they did not care about our business and that the fee for a tent meant nothing. I told them we had stayed in the cabins before but we would go ahead and leave. They still charged us for both nights even though we only stayed for one. Nasty people. read more

Great facilities, but had to give only 2 stars because the site is right next to train tracks. Loud horn blasts and wheel clacking all night long makes it hard to sleep. At least 5 trains passed between 10pm-6am. Otherwise the bathrooms were decently updated and clean and there were facilities for dog park, laundry, and common room. read more

Enjoyed our stay at this campground! Very friendly and helpful. They even have pizza delivery and it is good pizza! Their store and laundry facilities are clean and well stocked! Very close to interstate which made it easy to find. Would recommend it as there are many places to see around Springfield and Branson is only 30 miles away. read more

Just passing through the area and spent one night. Called ahead and talked with a courteous staff member. When we arrived they had the reservation ready and we were good to go in minutes. We were escorted to our nice sized pull through. Park was very clean and quiet. Only thing that might bother some people was the trains come by often and they are close. Myself i love the sound and am not a lite sleeper . Pool and laundry also very nice and well kept. I would recommend this park. read more

Nice, clean place. Has pool and laundry facilities which is a plus especially if you are staying for a longer visit. Some of the staff was friendly and courteous. We stayed for 33 days (had sold our home and used campground for temporary home during transition). I understand we were there during the early Spring, and rain is expected...but we were basically flooded the last 2 weeks of our time. Ankle deep in water each time we stepped out of our camper. It was never offered for us to move to a higher point of the camp ground and when we had to extend our stay by 2 or 3 days because it was raining so much and so hard we couldn't get our pop up out, we asked if they could cut us a deal for those last 2-3 days since we didn't even stay there, they had no answer for us and charged us in full. The park was near empty those last few days. The train was quite a surprise to us, rather loud when not expecting it but we did get used to it after 4 or 5 days. Nice gift shop with neat souvenirs and gifts to purchase at reasonable prices, but I don't recommend purchasing any of the snacks. Most are old, my sons mini hostess donuts had fuzz/mold on them and when he took them back they only offered other package of the same donuts...ummm...no thank you. read more

My husband and I stayed here just for the night. The train is close but we didn't hear it run past 9:30pm and didn't hear it again until 9:00 the next morning. It was incredibly clean, super friendly, and all of the cutout photo ops are adorably kitschy. I would definitely recommend a stay here if your travels lead you to Springfield! read more
