This was really cool to see the underground caverns. However for the experience I don't feel like the price is justified. They do include a picture of you and your group on the jeep before exploring the cave. Grainy and slightly dark. I would have preferred each adult ticket be $5 cheaper and have the picture being optional to purchase. The tour is rather short and we would have preferred the tour guides knew more about what they were talking about. It was very much "here is some writing on the wall from the original 12 that found it. Next up...etc". Also if you are taller than 6 foot it will be hard to crouch down under some of the ceilings as they can be very low.

Saw about 20 signs on the highway about the Caverns, and I thought "okay you got me I'll check it out." And it was very well worth the stop. To keep it short and still a mystery for you all, learning about the history of the cave was fascinating. The tour guide did an excellent job at keeping everyone informed and adding in a few jokes. I will say, you do at one point get to experience absolute darkness!!

We had a "fantastic" time. You ride through the cave ... the only one is USA like that. As with all tours they give alot of history and information. It was hot day ... felt like heaven inside the cave but some might want a jacket or sweatshirt. U do get dripped on but its not like you feel wet. Gift shop had nice rocks. You can't miss the signs along the highway! It's worth a trip- especially if you are traveling with very young children or anyone who may have trouble with mobility- this cavern tour is a tram tour- no walking necessary! Lasts about an hour and the tour in and out is well orchestrated, full of very interesting bursting history, and loaded with terrible puns and "dad jokes." The cost of the tour for one hour is pretty steep- for anyone age 13 and up tickets were $32 each as of July 2024 and there are no service member, educator, or senior discounts. It was worth it for the novelty and getting out of the heat in the summer- bring a sweater- it's only about 60°F in the cave.

Great value, huge cave. Focus is on the cave, history and geology and doesn't feel like a constant grab for your money. Even the gift shop isn't over bearing. All is very well maintained and a nice drive to get to. Love the museum type covered queue management area for crowded hot months. Would love to go on adventure tour!

A fantastic experience! If you are a little older this is a great tour to take. The drive through nature of the tour saves your legs while you are still able to enjoy the beauty of the underground caverns. The guides do a great job sharing the history of the grounds and pointing out highlights inside of the cave. A comfortable 60 degrees F makes this a great thing to do rain or shine. Enjoy!

Unique adventure underground with a history lesson dating back to the discovery of the cave. For $30 per person you are able to ride a tram down into the depths as they explain how the cave was originally found by a bloodhound named Juno...as they say, the rest is history. Our tour guide did a fantastic job explaining the formation of stalagmites and stalactites... and other things that would make National Geographic proud. Overall, probably a one and done tour. Pace a little slow to keep little kids attention for long. Price point seems a little high for a tram ride in and back out of a cave.

This is a fantastic tour with well educated and entertaining guides. We loved Jared and all the information he provided while we enjoyed the 60 degree cave on a 100 degree day. FYI it's 60 in the winter as well. The jeeps drive down the old stream bed which can still fill with rain. The water drips on your head still forming these beautiful formations. The tour is 60 min and great for young and old. You are encouraged to ask questions and by the end of tour you are about 130 feet underground but don't worry if you are afraid of tight spaces you never feel closed in or like you can't get out. The awe and beauty are all you think about. Kids Under 5 are free and large groups are easily accommodated. I recommended this as a stop when you are in Springfield MO.

Absolutely stunning natural sights! From the moment we parked to the moment we exited, we were surrounded by natural beauty. We came in the fall, today actually, and were very pleased with the entire experience. I was a little worried at first because they don't have an online ticket purchase, so I worried that my two kids would have to wait a long time before getting on the next tram (little ones don't always have a great amount of patience, and I certainly did not want them to run out of it before they even got to the tour). Boy was I wrong! They have trans running every 20 to 30 minutes, and we were able to get on within 20 minutes. The ride itself was smooth and enjoyable, and the ride stopped often to allow us to take pictures. The guide was smooth and enjoyable, and the ride stopped often to allow us to take pictures. Even though I appreciated the stops, it appeared that the guide was stretching out the tour with sometimes uncomfortable silences. I think some of that could have been avoided by just getting on with the tour. As for the price, yes, it is pretty steep. This is coming from someone who has been to other Caverns before. But I appreciated that children 5 and under are free, as it helps ease the blow. The one thing I wish I had taken advantage of is that they have picnic tables right outside. I would have brought a lunch had I known! It was such a gorgeous day and it was so beautiful there that we could have picnicked right on the spot after the tour. Pack a lunch! You won't regret it! For those of you with kids, this would be a perfect adventure for any age. The bathrooms were clean and the staff members were so helpful! There are sitting areas outside and inside, and everything is run really well. I honestly cannot wait to return! read more

We made a unplanned stop here on our way home from Branson, so glad we did. The cave is breathtaking, they drive you thru with a jeep and explain all kinds of things, however not til your at the point of please stop lol. Great place to visit! read more

This place was cute. They allow you to take popcorn on the ride which was helpful with little kids to keep them quiet. We were in a group of about 20 people. The tour guides Russ and chance were great and somewhat funny, they a great history lesson on the cavern. We spotted a bat which the tour guides stated was uncommon, it was a fun time. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the front desk girl Nicole was sorta unfriendly and seemed annoyed that we had such a big group. However, she did ensure all other guests waited to let us board the train first since we were a big group and it did allow us to sit together, I thought was a great gesture. Overall, I would recommend this place to any family. read more

This was my first visit to a cave, and it was okay. I learned a lot about caves and saw a lot of stalagmites and stalactites. Our tour guide was informational and friendly. There was a couple of kids on our tram that kept asking questions, and the tour guide tried to answer them as professional as possible. The part I liked the most was the larger structures near the end. We also got to see a small bat that was sleeping. The cave wasn't what I expected, and it seemed really small, but the good part was that it can be easily seen while riding a tram. The gift shop was also nice, and included a lot of earthy souvenirs (kinda pricey though). read more

I would love to give Fantastic Caverns a higher review, but I can't simply because although the Caverns are nice IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! And the ride really isn't that long. Also, to know that the Fantastic Caverns is "privately owned" and they don't offer NO TYPES OF DISCOUNTS IS DISHEARTENING! To the owners, you are profiting above and beyond! I don't think it would hurt your business profits, TO GIVE SENIORS, VETERAN, SOLDIERS, AND BETTER DISCOUNTS FOR KIDS! Your establishment was the only establishment that DIDN'T GIVE DEALS OR DISCOUNTS! *NOTE* NOT WORTH THE MONEY! MONEY HUNGRY ESTABLISHMENT RIDICULOUS! read more

The tour guide was very nice and informative and made the experience entertaining. However, the business as a whole is not adhering to any social distancing. We were crammed into the Jeep trailer like sardines, sitting less then a foot from each other. They advertised that masks were required; however, they never enforced it once, not even on the trailer we were crammed into. This place is taking little to no COVID preventive measures. If you are a high risk individual or are worried about COVID, do not go. read more

It's a fun stop for a family and they let us take our dogs on the jeep! The guides are entertaining and keep things lively. Sure, a walking tour is a lot more personal and a totally different experience. But that's like saying don't go out to eat at a hibachi restaurant, if you can just enjoy a sushi bar. Totally different experiences within similar genres! Worth a stop! read more

It's a nice little way to learn something while enjoying an awesome view of the cave. Its a clean facility and the service is nice and friendly. The quick history and geology lesson is a nice touch. The tours are about an hour long and its somewhere around $25 a person so it can be pricey if you got a big group but it's nice stay-cation type of thing to do. read more

This cave is a waste of money. You sit on a very uncomfortable tram looking at the cave from a distance. No thanks. I recommend going to Bridal Cave which isn't THAT far away. read more

We go weekly and they are so friendly and nice. We have the season pass and it's worth it. Every time we go in we see or hear something different. I recommend going when it's been raining outside bc you see a lot of waterfalls and possibly water in the sink hole read more

One of only 3 caves in the world that features a ride through the cave. This is the only one in the USA. (According to the docent) very clean and modern facility, with a hiking trail to a lower cave structure. (Not available for entrance) very enjoyable. read more

Good place to visit. A little expensive though. I could see a max $18 a person range but not $25. An updated video at the end of the cave would be nice. Something from the '90s isn't cutting it in 2016. Staff very friendly. read more

We were looking for something we could do with our Labrador, Rowdy since he is traveling with us and it was gloomy out. We called and they said he could come! It was about an hour away but worth it! Sara was a great guide and Rowdy did great! Thanks for being pet friendly! read more

Fantastic caverns offers an excellent tour of an impressive cavern with a wide variety of cave formations. Even though it's privately owned, it's a low-key and friendly place - very welcoming. Our guide was both entertaining and educational, and responsive. Even kids were comfortable asking questions. read more

My boyfriend and I enjoyed this cavern tour. It lasts 1 hour in a jeep drawn trailer that takes you into a nice 60 degree cave. However, there were some cons. The seating is hard benches and were not in the least bit comfortable. The tour also seems really short for how expensive tickets are. Another thing, part of the tour is taken up with a video - which was dumb to me. I didn't pay to see a video, I paid to see the caverns. Overall it was interesting, but was a tad on the expensive side. read more

Awesome experience, it was very fun and educational. Emily and David were our tour guides and they were knowledgeable and funny. They had great information and were very kind. There were only two of us so we got to sit up front in the truck with Emily and got a little more information about the cavern and history and her as well! We are very happy with the tour and cost. It was a rainy day but they're still open. Just a few wet moments as we entered the cavern. Wished it was dryer so we could do a trail walk. Everything was good otherwise. Our tour guide was nice, and answered any questions to the best of her ability. The cavern was fun for my kids too. Things they learned in science was now an experience for them. Glad there was history involved with this cavern. Go experience this fantastic cavern! read more

Was pretty interesting for us. Never been in a cave big enough that you could drive through it. It's a little pricey for what it is. But since there were just three of us on the tour, it was virtually a private tour. The guide was excellent. The cavern is interesting. Glad we went. Interesting gift store. They've plastered the countryside with billboards for the cavern. Staff all courteous and friendly. read more

Kept waiting for the "WOW" factor to kick in for the $24 price (with tax). It never happened. It's an interesting cave for sure, but I prefer Blanchard Springs Caverns. The tour lasts about an hour by jeep-drawn tram. Something fun if you're looking for something to do, but don't expect to be blown away by it. read more

It was more expensive, and shorter, than I thought it would be, but it was still very cool. I'm definitely returning, and taking my niece & nephew. The tour guide really knew her stuff. I only wish there was a minimum age bc someone brought a toddler and we couldn't hear the tour guide since he was fussy and loud. Or maybe give us headphones and a walkie to have us listen to her like they do through most of Europe. The caves were beautiful and I liked sitting in a jeep. It was great to escape the heat. read more

Very adventurous fun time for the whole family. We had a family group of 12 people from age range 6-62 so we decided to visit this cave because it was the easiest for everyone. It did not let me down! The guide was great, answered everyone's questions, and was very knowledgeable. The cave itself lived up to its name, it was FANTASTIC! It left me wanting to adventure even more. We got a great group photo that we purchased at the end of the tour. This was a great souvenir for our family trip. Cool gift shop you can browse before and after your tour. It would be safe to say I'll be looking for more caves to explore very soon!! read more

Ok, I know, it's just a cave, big deal right? But the tour and the history lesson are a great time for the family. worth a trip with the kids for a couple hours of adventure. Not for the claustrophobic, or those who have a phobia of being underground. Fun time. read more

This was cool, but it was way to expensive. Please don't bring your baby on this ride. One of the facts I learned is that one little touch from your finger can stop the growth of the cave stalactites because of the oil. That is crazy! read more

I am so glad we stopped on our way home...what an amazing experience. It is just simply beautiful on the cavern! Our guide was great! If I had 1 complaint it would be with the gift store....they had a sign over all the jewelry that said 50% off and my daughter got her money out to buy some earrings only to be told that only SOME things were 50% off. She was said....work on your signage so you don't mislead people read more

Her very first words were, "Why are you here?" -- no greeting, no courtesy, just instant hostility. We were only there to take a quick photo of the outside and look at the grounds, as we were considering renting the venue for a wedding. We're from out of town and were in the area just for the weekend, but she immediately accused us of trespassing instead of simply asking what we needed. To make things worse, she blocked the driveway so we couldn't turn around properly, forcing us to back through the grass rather than letting us move forward a couple of feet to the wider part of the drive. I'm also quite sure her behavior was influenced by my alternative haircut and color, which made the experience feel even more judgmental and discriminatory. We will never come back here or recommend this place to anyone.

Got a little claustrophobic from not knowing my way around and some of the smaller passages but it was still a fun experience if you've not done a lot of caves and don't care much about the historic background.

Upon arrival, we were told the first tour would begin at 10:00 a.m., but it did not actually leave until 10:20 a.m. because the group had to wait for late arrivals. Once they arrived, the tour was delayed further so they could return to their cars to get coats. The tour itself was expected to last one hour, but it extended to over an hour and a half due to frequent stops and off-topic discussions. Very little time was spent covering the actual history of the cave or its Civil War significance, which is the primary reason we chose this tour. Instead, the guide spoke extensively about working as a park ranger in New Mexico for the federal government, Roswell, and other caves in other states. While this may be interesting in a different setting, it felt unrelated and distracting given the advertised focus of this tour. At the time, we were on a stable walkway, and this restriction felt unnecessary. Overall, the experience did not deliver on the Civil War history advertised, and the lack of focus, delays, and extended runtime made the tour frustrating. It was not worth the $33.95 per person for the two of us. We would not choose to attend again and would not recommend it to visitors seeking an educational Civil War-focused cave tour.

Our guide, Levi, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and provided a lot of history and information about the cave and the area. He did a great job. If you can't handle a lot of stairs or inclines, this cave would suit you, as the walk is short and mostly flat. However, for the $29/person entrance fee, it's just not worth it. Most every other cave/cavern in the area is better. For maybe $19/person, it would be worth the stop.

This is the site of the first Union general killed in action as well as the first Civil War battle that took place West of the Mississippi River. I chatted so long with Ranger Clayton Hanson about the Civil War and racism that his colleagues had to basically kick us out because they had the gate to the gift shop already down! We had a great experience on the cave tour at Fantastic Caverns. Our tour guide, Andy, was knowledgeable and entertaining, providing us with a great understanding of the cave's history. She also added some humor, which made the tour even more enjoyable. One unique aspect of the tour was that we got to ride in a jeep / wagon down into the cave. It was a cool and exciting experience, adding to the adventure of exploring the caverns. The ride was smooth and comfortable with Andy navigating. We were also thrilled that the tour was pet-friendly, as we were able to bring our dog along. It was wonderful to be able to share this experience with our pup and create a unique memory together. OMG what a great way to cool off in the summer heat! Mike, our guide, was fantastic and very educational. The gift shop was super cute as well. My fiancé and I picked out a couple of coffee mugs and were pleasantly surprised by the free photo at the end of the tour.
