Drinks were a separate charge, and NO WATER in the food area. What!? Great. The day I forget to bring water bottles. Not cool. They had free hay rides, temp tattoos, face painting, farm-themed photo booth, corn hole, bubbles and hula hoops. Yes, many kids-friendly activities, but don't think you can't get in there. The kiddos insisted that I get my face painted to match their butterfly faces. They loved that we all matched! They had some craft booths, and the fields enjoyed looking at what each booth sold, taking samples of anything. It was a fun experience, but I think we will explore some other options next year.

First the $10.oo entry was a little steep for the evet they were offering. The whole "buy food tickets" program was just cumbersome and had flocks of people walking incircles all day. The food was dreadfully awful and I hope this was just a one time incident and not the direction that TPC is now going. The best part in my opinion was the marketplace of local vendors just outside the creamery. This is where I spent most of my time and money. I would love to see this admission cost reduced and this local vendor area increased. Fingers crossed for next year! PS the childrens drum circle was also a great idea.

Georgia Street was remodeled when Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl in 2012. The street runs between the convention center and Banker's Life Fieldhouse - six or seven blocks. The here are a handful of restaurants and bars along the route including Harry and Izzy's. There are lots of restaurants and hotels on the side streets along the street as well. To the south one block, the railroad meets Union Station. The median of the street is decorated with metal arch structures and lights. During events, various businesses and food trucks will offer beverages and street foods. The street is a lovely walk after a late night basketball game. I like to go down early on a Sunday morning when no one is around and enjoy the magnificent architecture along the route.

Big problem was that all the tents were selling the same thing and local brewed beers were not available. A band was playing songs from the 80's to a crowd of college kids. It seems the only time heaters are active along this street is when our convention space is booked. It would seem like restaurants along this stretch would benefit from a little glamping on weekends just for us Indy folk. It's a great stretch of nothingness most of the time. I wish the city would do more to promote this space on weekends throughout the year.

What I love about farmers markets in general (and this one specifically) is that each person selling their goods is super excited to tell you all about them, how they made them or grew them, what to eat them with or how to use them. On this visit, I bought some tea from the Tarkington Tea booth, a boule of French bread from The Bearded Baker, honey sticks from Dragonwood Honey & Maple and a dried cow hoof for my doggie from Becker Farms. I was eyeing the pea shoots at another stall, but I'll have to come back and buy those another time -- the guy was busy and had a line of customers. This indoor farmers market is located at Roy G. Holland Park, in the community center just off the parking lot. It's nice and warm inside, so don't let the cold temps of winter deter you from visiting the farmers market!

There isn't a hot breakfast option so don't plan on eating here like you can during the summer. If you're looking for fresh delicious produce this is a good market, if you also go to the summer one for entertainment, this is not the same as that market.

The Saxony Farmers Market was a great destination for our afternoon activity! Located in the…read moreparking lot across from Jack's Donuts, Saxony Market is smaller than the Farmer's Market in downtown Fishers, but it was a lot of unique offerings packed into the small area. That being said, I never felt cramped or claustrophobic, even when surrounded by all the booths and food trucks. There's picnic tables and a field to relax and enjoy a snack, and there's a playground behind the market for the kids to blow off some steam. Every step of your Farmers Market journey is accompanied by live music, performed by a very talented duo. Everyone manning the booths were extremely polite and welcoming, and I made sure to try every free sample I was offered! We got some strawberry bread (an Amish Friendship Bread with strawberry purée and vanilla pudding) from the Amish County Dairy, and I also sampled the blueberry milk. (I know, it sounds weird, but it was delicious!) We were tempted to buy some fresh produce, but unfortunately I went food shopping earlier today and I didn't need to buy any more fruit! The Fishers Parks Department was advertising upcoming events in our area (Monsoon Madness is Saturday, July 22!) and offering free ice cream sandwiches!!! That's right. ICE CREAM SANDWICHES. Nothing incredibly inviting, honestly. We enjoyed some cotton candy, a Kona ice, and sampled some MLM products. There's a nice playground where the kiddos seem to be having a ball. It's really fun to see the varying decor of the neighborhood through the items being displayed for sale. While there, don't miss out on visiting the James Whitcomb Riley Museum.
