5/5 100x over!! You order at the counter and they make your meal to order. We got the buffalo chicken wrap (hot), Italian (hot) and engine 45 (mix of chopped cheese & Philly cheese steak). Combos come with fries and a drink. The sandwiches were all amazing. Hubs loved the buffalo chicken wrap. I loved the chopped cheese. Everything was delicious and If we lived closer, I would be here more. Workers were friendly and helped give suggestions. No tables inside/ only to-go option. read more

Gourmet this place is not. They need to take that word off the facade. This is basically a Jimmy Johns with a fancy name. Decent food, decent price, but nothing special, certainly not what we expected given the name on the front of the building. read more

Greeted when I walked in which was awesome. Gave me time to look at the menu and didn't rush me. Very good customer service. Very clean inside and all the food areas near and everything covered. Looks terrific! Perfect anytime but platters o only during breakfast hours. there is a ramp for access and marked handicap spots in front. The door opens out with no automation, so I'm not sure if that's accessible. There is definitely no eat in. This is definitely take away inside. You can also find chips some specialty water ice cream to purchase and some candy so it's kind of a little bit like a convenience store. I ordered the New Yorker, which is hot pastrami with Swiss cheese and mustard. I upgraded to the tots and you get a can of soda as well. The sandwich was hot and delicious. It was on a roll and it had melted cheese and the meat was slightly spicy. Yum reminds me when I lived in New Jersey. I will definitely be back. read more

The food is 10/10. They make it fresh, so it's hot when you get it and not sitting in a warmer. This is going to be my new favorite breakfast sandwich spot! I've actually been wanting to try this place for so long but was hesitant because of the Boar's Head recall last year. Definitely don't let that stop you from trying this place!!! The food is safe to eat, the place is clean, and they have signage posted addressing the recall and their commitment to food safety. The employees were very patient, nice, and helpful. First time stopping in and have to say I'm a fan and will be back!!! It's a carry out only joint, but who cares. We ordered the chopped cheese and Philly. Both were prepared fresh and in front of us. I like going to a place where I can see not only the food storage but also into the kitchen. The place was clean and the two people working were friendly. I got the chopped cheese with mustard instead of ketchup and it was delicious! My mom got the Philly cheese and loved it! She was finished before me! My new go to sandwich shop! Can't wait to come back and try the bagel egg n cheese and more sandwiches but gotta say, going to be hard to not get the chopped cheese again! read more

Good old fashioned deli!! Food is fresh and delicious !! There isn't any sitting area , it's an order and go type of place. The Cajun Chicken Sandwich was great! They are off 38st going towards the west side. Sitting on the corner, you can't miss it. I've had the NY Deli out east and it's good but something about it is heavy on my stomach at both locations. I ordered the chipotle grilled chicken wrap but they were out of grilled chicken. It must be a popular item because they had a phone order who wanted the exact same thing lol Gotta keep the grilled chicken in stock NYGD! Instead, I got the crispy chicken wrap which came w/ lettuce, tomato, Mayo and Muenster cheese. I added onion. It was good but not was I had a taste for. I only could finish half due to the heaviness and my stomach gurgling through. I got potato wedges as my side, so good. With a 7up tropical, which I never had or seen but was delish. The service was great. While waiting, a phone order came in before I made it to the counter, as I was waiting to out in my order, the other gentlemen swooped in and took my order. Quick service. The staff prepped as they went along. The inside is a bodega, which is what they are going for. Boxes always out for stocking purposes and only standing room cause you won't be there long. I don't think I would go again because of ingredients used don't work for me but PLEASE go try them for yourself! read more

I've been seeing this spot pop up on Yelp and I knew I needed to try it! So glad I finally did!! I got the Chopped Cheese and my husband got the Tavern Fire. Both were !! The sandwiches are large and we are saving the other half for a snack later or lunch tomorrow. I don't imagine they'll last until tomorrow because we are already craving more. I live a couple of blocks from New York deli and was so glad to see it open. I've gotten Carrie out sandwiches several times and have had consistently good experiences each time. A family favorite is the chopped cheese. Each time we've gone, there have been at least a couple of other customers at the deli. Our weight has never been longer than 10 minutes, even on busy days. My kids love, but there is a wide selection of beverages and chips more so than any other deli they've been to in Indy. They get a thrill out of trying something new each time. Personally, I'm glad to see that there are increasingly more options with slightly less sugar (example: flavored core water). That said, this is not necessarily a place to go if you're looking for a highly nutritious meal. Though, the veggies on the sandwiches I've always been fresh and there is a lot of variety regarding meat and cheeses. They offer a variety of wraps as well. You can also modify any sandwich; adding or removing items. Tried the Ragin Cajun Turkey sandwich that I made into a wrap. I omitted the cheese and mayo and requested honey mustard. And I chose to have it grilled. Grabbed a bag of Grippos Sweet Onion Maui and a brownie. Omg!!!! If anything sticks out to me from my visit, it's the brownie!!! I'll be going back this week to get another one; maybe even two. Can't judge a book by its cover. The restaurant is not one that is great in ambience but the food was great. The Ruben was good. The key lime pie was down right awesome. I was happy to see this place open up because who doesn't like a New York Deli? I got sandwiches for the family chop cheese, Italian with boars head meats, and a buffalo chicken wrap. All were delicious solid bread and a good portion of meat. The owner was friendly and the place was clean. After my last trip to NYC, I haven't been able to stop craving a chopped cheese sandwich. I was ecstatic (& now a little apprehensive for my wallet) to see NY Gourmet Deli open down the street. We ordered the Chopped Cheese and Bronx Special. I can only attest to the Chopped Cheese because the Bronx was gone before I could ask for a bite. He reports, "really good!". Mine was great & I was able to save half for later, it's hefty. Your sandwiches are made to order, so expect a little wait. With a few people in front of me it was probably 15-20 minutes. Bomb! That's what I have to say about this place, amazing. I don't think highly of too many places here in Indianapolis but I'll tell you one thing the chopped cheese sandwich and number 45 which is a chopped cheese mixed with a Philly cheese steak, can't miss. I usually like to try things when they are piping hot, fresh to order, the first time my husband went I was able to try it immediately and I knew that it was a banger. The second time he went, picked it up and brought it home, it was still warm. I love the wedges, and while I don't eat pork my husband enjoyed the hot Italian sandwich, his only wishes that there were more mayo. What a gem. NY Deli has become a favorite go-to spot for my family of 5. Our to-go orders can become quite extensive in both quantity and variety. At some sandwich establishments, this becomes a problem. Always resulting in an incorrect order or missing items. This has never been the case at NY Deli. The owner is so kind and patient. Everything is made to order and packed nicely. And like any good deli, you can grab some Boar's Head deli meat sliced for you on the spot to take home. They have a variety of chips, candy, and drinks that you can browse through while you wait and I guarantee you'll end up throwing some items on the counter to purchase even after you've already ordered. Cheesesteak is phenomenal! Juicy and perfectly balance with toppings and the bread is crusty yet soft and delicate which is an unheard of combo in the fast food sub shops. As an East Coast transplant I have missed my Montreal Subs living in California. I visited NY Gourmet Deli at the Ruckle location street twice, 5 mos apart. To say I was blown away is an understatement. This place is a hidden gem-cannot wait to go back.
