Unfortunately, over the course of one month of back-and-forth questions and answers to and from the owners and/or representatives of Vinyl Sound, this is most definitely a one-star review. Highly surprising from a hi-fi/audiophile retailer, as I've only had one other negative experience in my entire life from a different retailer. My requests were seemingly simple: 1) bearing oil for my Transrotor ZET 3.1 turntable; 2) replacement belts for the turntable, and; 3) a request regarding the possibility of making a cover for my turntable. Over a 29-day period, here is the breakdown, in number of days, of their response times to my various e-mail requests: 1, 5, 8, 0, 0, and finally, after waiting 14 days for a reply, I sent a final e-mail requesting an update but have yet to receive an answer. It's now 22 days without a reply at the time of this review. There are many other dealers to choose from. Select another that's not Vinyl Sound and likely be much more satisfied.

Places like Stereo Advantage just feel way to corporate when it comes to old electronics. I wanted a hands-on approach by someone who lived and breathed the repairs of old electronics. This is exactly what I got with Precision Audio Service. I walked into the front door and was overwhelmed by stacks of old stereos and other devices. It actually reminded me of my own work space when I was repairing/rebuilding computers. I knew right away that I had found the right place. The owner (Jeff -- sorry if you spell it Geoff), came out and greeted me. I told him what I had and what was wrong with it and he said he would be able to fix it. A handshake sealed the deal. I left and quickly returned with my old stereo unit. He attacked the repairs in 1 day. Fixing a variety of things that were wrong with it (fuses, springs, general cleaning, etc). The final cost was very reasonable. The attention to detail, quality of the repair, and speed of service were well worth the price. My old record player is back to playing the sweet sounds of vinyl! This place can be a bit tricky to get to because you can't go across the street from Brompton road. I recommend you come up Main st., headed towards Transit, and make a right into the private parking lot. The entrance is the door all the way on the right.
