From day one, she was communicative and very flexible with all the requests I had, which made the entire planning process so much less stressful. One thing we truly appreciated was that they even delivered food to our home during our tastings--it made everything so convenient. The food was already amazing during the tastings, but it was even more incredible on our wedding day. All of our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was! Carla and her team provided exceptional service from start to finish. They were also the only catering team we found who packed up all the leftovers for us, which meant so much since our family stayed at the venue--we got to continue enjoying the food even after the wedding. They also created our wedding cake, which was absolutely beautiful and delicious. If you are looking for a wedding caterer, Far Out Catering is the one. We chose Far Out catering originally because 1. We couldn't stop salivating over the delicious mushroom ravioli after our tasting; and 2. We immediately felt comfortable with Carla - we loved her personality and story. I worked in food service for about a decade so the food and beverage service for our wedding was very important to me. We are SO glad that we went with Far Out. Carla and her team were absolutely amazing at every step of the process. I'll give a few examples: 1. Taste: So many of our guests told us that this was by far the BEST food they have ever had at a wedding. People were literally searching us out to tell us this because they were so impressed. There's always the fear that the food won't taste as good as it did at the tasting, but despite the fact that we were in a county park and there was no onsite kitchen, the food tasted just as we remembered it. 2. Service: The team was so on top of everything and just generally so sweet that it created a great ambiance for the wedding. We missed the appetizers due to taking photos and were a bit disappointed. Carla found out and the team quickly made us a personal platter of each of the appetizers. Carla was communicative, but not overbearing and made us feel that everything was in good hands. For example, during the wedding we made some slight changes in timing because people were loving the appetizers and cocktail hour, so we pushed back dinner about 30 minutes. Carla and her team worked it out seamlessly and no one knew that there was a change except for us. 3. Above and beyond: We bought all of our own alcohol and mixers and the team came by our house a couple of days before to pick everything up so that we didn't have to drop it off. Amidst all of the last minute to-dos, this was a huge help. Later that night, as Carla was looking through the items, she realized that I had forgotten to pick up lychee for our signature cocktail. She communicated with me and I said that I would work on quickly trying to find it the following day. What I didn't say is that I was nervous that I wouldn't find it due to the holiday--and not sure how we could pivot because they'd already finalized the printed menus. Before I even had time to look, Carla texted me early the following morning and said she had found the item and already picked it up, so I didn't need to worry about it. We had the pleasure of having Far Out Catering cater our wedding and we have absolutely no regrets! My husband and I adopted a vegan lifestyle over five years ago, so it was very important to us to be able to offer delicious vegan food on our wedding day. It was a challenge finding a catering company that would accommodate a 100% vegan menu that consisted of food that non-vegans would enjoy as well. As soon as we spoke with Carla, she presented her initial ideas to us and we knew immediately we had found what we were searching for! We loved working with Far Out Catering! They catered our mini wedding in 2021 and also recently catered our 100+ person baby shower in Jan 2024 and everything went super smoothly at both events. For our mini wedding in 2021, they provided delicious boxed lunches + desserts for our families and helped create a stunning wedding cake (only the top layer was real food, bottom tiers were for staging only) that looked amazing in photos. For our larger baby shower just recently, they provided a gorgeous grazing table full of amazing charcuterie and snacks, 3 different types of warm appetizers, and a beautiful spread of assorted desserts, tarts and cookies. Guests were raving about the food + presentation and it was such a comfort having Carla and Kiah's warm and professional presence at this major life milestone. We looked at several catering companies for our 10th anniversary party, and ended up choosing Far Out due to their great reviews, expansive menu, and fair pricing. Carla was great throughout the process, communicating quickly and accommodating our (what felt like 700) many menu changes. She and her staff arrived at the venue right on time. They went above and beyond in terms of service: from serving the desserts from another bakery, drinks from Trader Joes, cleaning everything, and boxing up leftovers and putting them in our fridge for us. They were incredibly nice and professional throughout the evening. As far as the food: Grazing Table: an absolute must have. We customized ours, and everything we picked was amazing. It was also a FULL table and really beautiful the way they lay it out. It was descended upon like ants to sugar so we don't have any pictures, but seriously can't recommend enough. Lemon herb chicken: the standout entree of the night, moist, lemony, and delicious. Prime Rib: honestly, this one was just okay. It wasn't super moist, and it was over-cooked for my liking. Cauliflower and mushrooms: a unique vegetarian dish that is really good. This was super popular. Mashed potatoes: you can't honestly go wrong with mashed potatoes, but Carla's were especially good. Asparagus: Not her fault, but the asparagus didn't turn out very well due to a super difficult oven. Might be worth a try at a different venue, but didn't get eaten at ours. Chef Carla and her team are amazing!!! From the very first prompt response to my message to the communication throughout, it was a wonderful experience. I ordered 19 cookie decorating kits (from her Etsy store) to be shipped to 19 different addresses for a year-end work party. Chef Carla handled it seamlessly! I sent the addresses in a spreadsheet and billed separately for the additional shipping costs. She even accepted a few late changes to one address and two additions to the order. She was truly wonderful to work with - always happy, prompt in responding, and easy to work with. And - the cookies all arrived on time and were delicious! She even added a special card for me thanking the recipients of the cookie kits for their great work this year. They have provided us exquisitely delicious food from the hors d'oeuvres to the main course. They made sure everyone had something to munch on. If it weren't cheese platter and seasonal fruits, hummus and pita bread, they were handing out bacon wrapped scallops, baby crab cakes and so much more. Well, COVID-19 has certainly put a major damper on fine dining, especially when it comes to birthday celebrations. Traditionally, I would find a unique and interesting new restaurant where I would take my wife to show her how much I love and appreciate her on her special day. In true 2020 fashion, my wife also has needed to adhere to some flavor killing diet restrictions. So, what am I supposed to do to carry on the tradition?? No problem! In steps Kiah and Carla who take a list of my wife's restrictions and create an amazing menu for us to choose from. They arrive at our home about an hour before dinner ladened with crates of all sorts of cooking paraphernalia. They are so laid back and friendly putting us at ease as they set up the table (I'm talking linen table cloth, water and wine glasses, place settings and a beautiful flower arrangement for the center piece). In a very few minutes the first course is ready. The best French Onion Soup we've ever had followed by and amazing salad, filet mignon with wild mushrooms and some kind of 'lick the plate clean' sauce and asparagus with Meyer Lemon rind. Amazing!! They finished the meal with individual tarts filled with a wonderful cream and mixed berries. Even with the restrictions we had to place on them the meal was a top 5 ever. I've traveled the world and have had some amazing meals in historic and exotic places. Nothing beats having a world class meal at home! I can't give a higher recommendation! read more

From our first meeting to their friendly smiles as they wheeled the last of their equipment out of our house leaving a spotless kitchen behind us, Far Out Catering exceeded our expectations. Carla responded to my initial email inquiry extremely promptly with comprehensive and clear information (by comparison, I'm still waiting for a reply from another catering company I contacted at the same time, despite having followed up by email and phone). She listened to what we wanted and proposed a cocktail party menu that proved to be both novel and popular with guests (who knew parsnip and potato latkes would draw so many compliments!) On the day of the party, the Far Out Catering Team arrived exactly on time bringing with them enormous containers of food and supplies, and were set up with ample time ahead of the guests arriving. The quantities of food and range of options (including mezze platters, a range of appetizers and two different types of fruit tarts) were just right so that everyone left satisfied without a lot of wasted food, and the wait-staff worked tirelessly serving food and drinks. We booked this catering for our wedding, which has now been postponed due to COVID. Every single other vendor was willing to work with us, allowing us to keep our deposits and re-schedule for next year when this pandemic is over, the venue, the photographer, all rentals that we booked... except this business. They insisted we "wait to see what will happen" when I called them to talk about it, and then when we had to cancel because of lock downs, they said they would rather keep 1/2 our deposit and not have our business later. Short-sighted if you ask me, yes it's within their contract to do so, but they stand in stark relief with every other vendor we did business with. The other issue I have, throughout the process they seemed to be adding stress to the process by adding problems (like chair setup, refilling glasses, putting dishes away... etc) then offering to solve the problem they were creating with exorbitant costs by renting through them. The initial quote for food was great, but when you add in all the nickel and dime costs they charge vs. renting everything through them (at about double the rates we found elsewhere) the prices were less competitive. read more

I cannot recommend Far out catering enough. I saw that they offer cooking classes online and will definitely be hiring them for that soon, but had a birthday coming up for my 2 year old daughter and I had been interested in upping my cake making and decorating skills. I inquired about a cake making class and was pleased to hear Chef Kiah would do a customized class for me. She came to my house during hours that were best for me, brought all the ingredients and equipment, recipes, and professional advice so I didn't have to prep a thing. I feel so lucky to have gotten to learn from a professional in my own house. Chef Kiah was so welcoming and accommodating. I could ask all the questions I wanted and she was so willing to answer them all. I was so impressed by how she tailored the class just for me and the cake I wanted to make. Later she even sent me further tips based on my questions I had and digital copies of the recipes which I really appreciated. They also had a pie sale going on for thanksgiving so we ordered their pumpkin pie and Mexican chocolate pie which were both beautifully made and super delicious! Chefs Kiah and Carla are great! They helped us to host First Communion brunch. We discussed the menu and they were very flexible to the options and choices. On the day of the event, they arrived promptly and efficiently, set up the serving tables beautifully. Chef Kiah also helped us with service, both drinks and food, she knew which guest need drink refill, clean the plates. She somehow did it with the stealth, she was on top of everything without being seen! But that is not all! To our surprise, Chef Kiah stayed after we and our guest left for church, not only to pick up the supplies. She packed all left over food and organized our fridge to fit it.
