We found the BBQ Boys Catering on yelp and what a great find. We hired them for a private anniversary party. They were really easy to work with from the contract phase to onsite. Everything was really organized and they were very professional. They answered all of my mom's questions about their service and were very patient. The day of the party they arrived on time and were very nice. The food was amazing and everyone raved about how good it was. We had the ribs and chicken. The chicken was so moist and the ribs were excellent. We had a guest who needed to leave early before we were officially serving and they made her a plate before she left without her even having to ask for it. They were so thoughtful. My mom, who the party was for, has a special dietary restriction which makes BBQ a challenge for her to eat at times. They did a great job accommodating her needs so she could enjoy the food without any issues. They cleaned everything up so well afterwards that you would not have even known they were there cooking onsite. The next day the office called to see how the party went. We were served food from the BBQ Boys at a birthday party. Menu included: Fresh tossed salad - this wasn't bad. Southern Peanut Coleslaw - Didn't have this so I can't comment on it. BBQ Chicken Breast with their special sauce - Chicken was ok but as I was cutting it up for the Kid, I noticed that the closer you get to the bone, the bloodier that piece of chicken was. It was like that on all of ours! Really, if you can't grill chicken right, then you should think about serving thinner portions. I'm knocking off a star for the attempted food poisoning. Grilled corn niblets - this was delish! The corn was tossed with bell peppers and onions. Way better than corn on a cob! Grilled tri tip - Tri tip was done right (thankfully!). Nice and tender. As an aside, I'm not bowled over with their "special" sauce. Nothing special there. Chili - Didn't eat it but DH said it was on the spicy side. Garlic Bread - God they must have done this the day before cuz all the pieces came out rock hard! I've had better garlic bread at italian restaurants. They also served veggie burgers but for some reason, those were not left out with the other food. Go figure. Overall it's not bad but I wouldn't say I'm a fan. read more

A little background, my crowd isn't the easiest to please food wise but the options provided made it easy for me to decide upon their menu versus anyone else. It is still a little nerve wrecking when you try a new vendor out for the first time but the reviews here and their ratings put my mind at ease (a little). BBQ Boys are professional, the food was amazing, and they were the only ones willing to order tables, chairs, linen on my behalf. We had the chicken breast and tri-tip! The BBQ Boys catered our company picnic last month and the group could not have been more happy with their services! Throughout the planning process, their staff was helpful and professional; very patient and willing to offer substitutions to fit our budget. On the day of the picnic, they were the first vendor to arrive and immediately kicked it into high gear by setting up their grill and prepping our meal - definitely a conversation starter for attendees! When it looked like guest flow was stagnating and not everyone had arrived when food service should have begun, Robert offered to hold off on cooking the meat we had selected until we were better prepared. I appreciated his foresight and really commend his attention to detail as I think really any other caterer cooking on-site might have just done what was best for their team without potentially considering the needs of the hosts. The food was delicious and everyone loved the barbecue, but the surprising star of the meal was the watermelon! Guests raved about it long after the event was over and I still hear the odd comment about how great it was to this day. My employer uses this catering company annually. The food is pretty good for the most part, and the service is typically courteous. My company orders Santa Maria tri-tip sirloin, BBQ chicken breasts (not sure which or their two types), and mesquite grilled garden burgers. I've only had the tri-tip, which is so-so. Not particularly tender or moist, but flavorful enough. Mixed in with the tri-tip are strips of bell pepper and onion. (In previous years, we've had a different tri-tip, slathered in BBQ sauce. About the same in terms of quality.) Portion size is somewhat disappointing... two to four slices of tri-tip, or one smallish chicken breast, or one vegetarian burger. A self-serve buffet line would change my tune on this. For sides, my company orders peanut cole slaw (meh), green salad with croutons and Ranch dressing (so-so), potato salad (meh), yellow corn niblets (so-so), baked beans (fantastic), garlic bread (good), and fresh sliced watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew (good). The baked beans are kind of a tangy sweet... there's actually diced apple in the baked beans. Beautifully done, easily outshining the other sides and the mediocre tri-tip. At least the sides are self-serve, so I can load up to compensate for the small meat portions. More baked beans? Don't mind if I do. The prices listed on the website menu aren't terrible (about $20 per person, maybe more with sides?). Still, for $20, I think you could give me more than four slices of tri-tip. I really enjoyed working with The BBQ Boys! Not only was the food AMAZING, the staff was friendly and everything from communication to food service went smoothly and professionally. They were really organized and dealt with me with patience. I made changes to the menu and rental equipment along the way and the rolled with it. I loved that they offered rental equipment (linens, place settings, chairs, tables, etc etc). It made one less stop and vendor for me. The BBQ Boys bbqed everything fresh on location and my guests loved that. The sides were delicious and nothing was low quality. Next time I need a caterer there's no question I'll use the BBQ Boys. BBQ Boys catered our wedding for us this past May, and they were AMAZING! When planing for our wedding I had initially found another bbq caterer and thought I was all set. However when we did the tasting with the other caterer we were so disappointing with the quality of the food that we knew we had to look elsewhere. This is when I found BBQ Boys. As soon as I contacted BBQ Boys they scheduled for my husband and I to come do a tasting within the week. We were blown away by the quality of the food! The whole time we were planning the wedding we had planned on having tri tip as the main dish. BBQ Boys Tri Tip is great, but their bbq chicken is AMAZING. We were very impressed with the taste and quality of the side dishes as well. Another thing that I was really impressed with BBQ Boys is that for the same price as everywhere else I had looked, they included 2x the side dishes (I think it was 5 side dishes). So now that we had found a caterer that we liked, it was time to discuss what we wanted for our wedding. I was very impressed that rather than just having me call the office and tell them what we wanted, the owner schedule a time to meet with me and get all the details himself. On the day of our wedding, BBQ Boys were great! The food not only was as amazing as we remembered, but the presentation was beautiful. BBQ Boys did not give me one reason to stress on my big day. We had a cousin and a family friend both get married within a few weeks of our wedding; and people from both weddings came to us and said how much better the food we had at our wedding was. Even the mother of the bride from one of the wedding said how much better BBQ Boys was than the caterer they used. BBQ Boys catered an outdoor picnic in the park for 300 people. Barbequed chicken and pork ribs (hamburgers and hot dogs for the children) and a few veggie burgers. They set up and maintained the buffet table for a 2 hour serving window. We selected BBQ boys because they cook the food fresh at the picnic site (which is rarer than you might think) and because of their positive business/corporate reviews. We were under tremendous personal pressure to produce a successful event and we didn't want to fuss with the barbeque- which in my opinion- is the cornerstone of an outdoor picnic. We selected two of the most difficult food items to barbeque successfully- which are chicken and ribs. What can I say? BBQ boys is a fine-tuned, smooth running, well-oiled barbeque catering machine! And my people should know because we just happen to be mechanics, electronic technicians, maintenance workers, etc. They arrived with a 4 person team, and cooked the meat fresh at the site. People raved about the ribs which were tender and lean with just enough charcoal grilled fat to keep things honest. The mesquite chicken (we had a mix of light and dark meat) was smoked to perfection and was moist and tender. The one vegetarian (in our group) that I spoke to- enjoyed the veggie burger and beans. We selected 3 side dishes, potato salad, tossed green salad, and vegetarian ranch beans. The feedback was good for all the side dishes. They also provided watermelon (what is a barbeque without watermelon?) and all the necessary condiments, etc. Everybody was satisfied and happy. We had several VIPs (politicians) that attended our event, and they seemed to enjoy themselves and they seemed to linger longer than they normally would (which I think is a positive?) After waiting for weeks for them to supply a formal proposal and then agreeing to their proposal, they renegged on providing rentals for the wedding. Liana, the event coordinator, was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. I did all of my wedding planning myself, so having vendors that were organized definitely helped me out. The food was excellent - we went with tri tip, chicken, asparagus and the bacon chive mashed potatoes (those were the best)! The beans were a bit average, but hard to make beans too exciting. I was a bit nervous as I never was able to work in a tasting before the wedding. Based on other Yelp reviews and my interactions with Liana, I decided to move forward anyway. This is a 4.5 Star review, but Yelp won't let you do halves ;) The owner/BBQ master Bob is absolutely delightful. He was helpful with picking the right menu, making suggestions about beer/wine and how to set things up, he recommended ways we could do things cheaper than through them (buy sodas ourselves, etc.). I love that all of the sides are vegetarian - no muss no fuss with trying to figure out does this, that, or the other have bacon in it, etc. Also, when you pick your protein, there is a whole standard slate of sides that come with - and they are generous. Corn, salad, garlic bread, ranch beans, potato salad, watermelon - all delicious and fresh and awesome. They were also happy to have a dozen or so garden burgers on hand for the vegetarians We got tri-tip and sausages, and we are still getting compliments on both. We also had some leftovers that were great! The price was very reasonoable and the portions generous. It was also fun to have Bob on-site cooking for us. We had paid for an extra serve to stick around and help serve cake/tidy up - that was great, affordable, and a really nice thing to have. I took off a 1/2 star because we had a snafu with the permitting at the park that would allow them to park the truck and use the access road. I really did not enjoy wondering about it 2 days before the wedding. Of course, it all worked out just fine, but I wish it had been ironed out a bit sooner is all. Had an event yesterday for around 150 people for work and as usual the BBQ Boys worked their magic. Food (both quality & quantity) was excellent, as well as the service. Liana, the event coordinator made sure that all my requests were met and pulled a rabbit out of the hat, when I messed up and didn't get back to her timely with my confirmation. Dan and his team, who were in charge of the cooking were prompt, courteous and helpful. They even loaned us one of their carts to transport are games. This is about the 5th time I have used them over the years and they have yet to disappoint. I have no desire to try someone new, when I know that I will get the best from them. read more

These folks do a great job. I just was married this past weekend, and as I come from a big family, it was a big wedding - 200 people. The BBQ Boys (who had also done my sister's wedding five years ago) were great from the beginning. Nadeane, their office manager, is prompt and totally on top of responses and questions. The food was cooked on site, was ready exactly on time, it was delicious, there was plenty of it, they were able to move people through the line efficiently, and their presentation was lovely. They have an expanded menu with both high end and basic bbq options. Plus I found their pricing to be very reasonable. And they can accommodate gluten free and vegetarian guests. Seriously comparable to some bbq from the midwest: These guys catered our company event for a group of 40+ people. Their food is rather impressive: The offer some vegetarian fare, but what stood out the most was the mesquite grilled chicken breasts (which look overcooked but were really moist and juicy AND flavorful underneath that charred exterior) and the Santa Maria Tri-Tip Sirloin (done medium well, with some pink in center- with enough seasoning to please your palate into realizing that it is very tasy :) ). The 'famous vegetarian ranch beans' had apples, onions, and a tart flavor. The Nibblet corn had herbed butter, parsley, and red peppers to give it some tang.
