Fast forward to today, I later found out from the bride and groom it was Heaven's Kitchen too! After we did our tasting with HK, we knew we had to have them. Thuy was amazing during the whole process and the team is very organized and professional. We got so many compliments from our guests about how good the food was. We had a good number of guests with dietary restrictions and allergies, but HK was so nice about it and so accommodating. They were able to substitute out some dishes or even prepare a special dish for those with allergies/restrictions because they wanted to make sure all the guests were able to eat. Our vegan and vegetarian guests raved about how happy they were with their meal and one of them said it was the best vegetarian meal they've ever eaten! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. From the very beginning, working with this catering team was so easy. I'm someone who had very specific ideas about what I wanted (and also changed my mind a few times ), and they never once made it feel difficult. They just made it happen. Every detail--from the overall menu down to the flavors and presentation--felt completely customized to us. And the food... I cannot emphasize this enough... people are STILL talking about it. Every single guest had something to say. The duck buns? Gone immediately. The lobster and steak? Unreal. Even the vegetables were somehow a highlight (which says a lot). Everything tasted intentional, elevated, and honestly just so good. Omg and how could I forget the passed appetizers during happy hour?! They just kept coming out! The food and service were AMAZING!!!! What really stood out to me though was how thoughtful they were with our guests. They paid close attention to dietary needs like vegetarian options, low-sodium preferences, and individual allergies were all handled seamlessly. No one felt like an afterthought, which meant a lot to us. They even took care of the kids and made fresh chicken nuggets with a side of white rice (my kids' favorite foods lol). We didn't have to think about packing a separate meal for the kids and we didn't have to fight when them to eat what everyone else was served and it honestly made the whole night run smoother. Overall, they didn't just provide food--they elevated the entire experience. I didn't have to stress, second guess, or micromanage anything. They just got it, and delivered beyond what I imagined. Honestly coming from a Viet family I was really scared about serving catered food to all the Ong and Ba because they can be so picky. The food was NOT COLD. We had a great experience working with Chef John and Thuy from Heaven's Kitchen for our wedding! TASTING: We contacted Thuy via email and scheduled a tasting with Chef John at The Point Church in San Jose in August 2023. We could bring up to 4 additional guests so I brought my parents to join us. They had a custom menu with different courses from their Silver and Gold menus. We got the first soup course and loved it! The rest of the dishes were so delicious, presented beautiful, and were unique/different compared to the typical Asian banquet menus. After the tasting, we walked outside and my mom told us to book them immediately. Viet mom approved! We booked Heaven's for our September 2024 wedding at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose and it was a seamless process. FOOD: We decided to select their Gold menu with slight modifications and they were able to accommodate our requests for our wedding day. Our guests loved the appetizers! The chicken lollipops and charcuterie board were the top favorites. The dinner courses were thoughtfully portioned for different table sizes and they made it easier for family style sharing so our guests didn't have to fight over who got the better piece. Our vegetarian guests also appreciated having their own vegetarian menu that was equally delicious! EXPERIENCE: There was a delay in our schedule so dinner was pushed back by 30 minutes. Thuy was onsite and did a great job communicating with our event planner and managing the kitchen and service staff to ensure that food was delivered quickly to the guests when the dining room opened up. She hand delivered our dinner to us at our sweetheart table and also checked in with us throughout the night to make sure we were eating and asked if there's anything she could do for us. So sweet! We didn't have time to eat everything so she packed it all up for us to enjoy the next day. The egg fried rice was the perfect breakfast after a night of drinking IMPROVEMENTS: Some of the tables mentioned that the food arrived cold but said it was still really delicious. TLDR; don't hesitate, book Heaven's Kitchen for your wedding or party ASAP! The year was 2011, and I just had the BEST Vietnamese food at a wedding. I looked over to my friend and said, "Whenever I get married, Heaven's Kitchen is catering my wedding." Fast forward to 2023, and I'm finally planning my dream wedding - I found my dream venue, and all of the stars aligned because Heaven's Kitchen was a preferred caterer! We were so lucky to have the great pleasure of Heaven's Kitchen catering our wedding.  I can't say enough positive things about how AMAZING Thuy, John, and the whole staff were the night of our wedding and through the entire process. On top of that, the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! We could not have been happier with how delicious the food was and how pleased every single one of our guests was.  Most importantly, my parents and in-laws couldn't stop raving about it. My parents have been in the food industry for most of my life, and my mother-in-law isn't always easy to please when it comes to food. It's been over a week since our wedding, and they're still talking about how good it was and all the compliments they've received from our family and friends. I was also weary about how my husband's side of the family would like the food since they're Korean and have never had a Vietnamese wedding banquet dinner before. Let me tell you, every single one of them has reached out to us just to let us know how delicious the food was, and loved the generous portions.  Also, thank goodness their food was SO good that even all our degen friends ate up every course, which likely alleviated any of our friends from getting too belligerent and getting kicked out of our wedding. =P But seriously, as we did our table greetings, EVERY SINGLE table told us that the food was bomb. I'm still getting texts from our friends about how much they loved the food (see photos for some of the compliments we got - and there were many more).  As most brides/grooms know, you don't get to eat much during the night's madness, so my only regret was not sitting down to thoroughly enjoy each dish as they came out. I swear we booked our wedding centered around booking Heaven's Kitchen for our wedding. Like we made sure we had outside catering with kitchen access available with whatever venue we booked, etc. LOL. Thuy and Chef John were amazing and amazing flexible with us! Despite some last minute wedding drama resulting in having two separate menus for our wedding, we had some of the sweetest compliments from our wedding on our food. My mom raised the bar in expectations leading up to the wedding with my extended family after our initial tasting with them. Despite having had the traditional Viet/Chinese banquet style menu at other weddings, my mom has never ate a whole course, ever until the tasting with our menu. My extended family are so particular about food - we're talking about coming from OC, Houston, DC and ATL Vietnamese hubs, and they ATE. Like they were a bit concerned because Viet-fusion is a new concept to them and they were wary until they tried the food and were amazed. My dad, who has been in Vietnam for the majority of wedding planning and had only seen the menu description, asked if anyone had brought home leftovers the night of after the wedding because the food was that good. Fun fact, my family didn't really bring any leftovers because everyone in my family ate majority of it and left essentially crumbs. I heard from friends that some people fought over leftovers. People who haven't attended Vietnamese weddings before stopped us and were like "hands down this was the best food we've had a wedding!" Oh and one of our vendors even made a IG reel on the food. My hubby and I had the pleasure of having John and his team cater our wedding in summer of 2019 at the Bentley Reserve in San Francisco. He went above and beyond with customizing my needs for our appetizers during cocktail hour and separate vegetarian options for dinner. I had the pleasure of trying Heaven's Kitchen catering at a friend's baby shower and I was blown away at the service and food quality. Everything was delicious!!! My favorite was def the Crab Asparagus soup. They even had to go containers for all the leftovers. I was hoping that they would be able to cater my child's birthday party of 20-30 people. I reached out as their Instagram about us story highlight said that no event was too small, but they said that their minimum was 100 people for their services. Heaven's Kitchen catered our wedding at Blanco in San Jose and they did a phenomenal job. One of the best decisions I made! They were so professional and friendly and easy to work with from beginning to end. We interacted with Thuy and Chef John through the process. They scheduled us for a tasting early on and it felt like we were getting treated to a lovely meal in an upscale restaurant. What we love about Heaven's Kitchen is that the food is top notch (they have the ability to execute both American and Asian style dishes) and their service is impeccable. They gave us the option of family style or buffet and we opted for buffet. They gave us a large list of appetizers to choose from for our cocktail hour (we chose sliders and mushroom crostinis and a charcuterie board which were delicious). And for dinner, they worked with us to substitute the soup and salad - clam chowder and a green apple and mango salad which were both raved about by our guests. We loved that they offered 6 different courses/mains for our menu: braised pork belly with steamed bun, fried jumbo prawns, steak, fish, roasted vegetables and an amazing signature fried rice. Everyone we spoke to said the food was amazing and such a highlight! Guests went back for seconds and thirds. Heaven's Kitchen also helped identify which dishes were vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. They also created plated meals for our guests with dietary restrictions which was appreciated by those guests immensely. So I've been utilizing Heaven's Kitchen for 3 wks now and I must say I was hesitant at first only because that meant relinquishing control in the kitchen. Since this SIP started I've been home, thus cooking more and that act alone requires trips to the grocery stores to buy ingredients/things. I'm not one for lines and def not now since masks are required. I've had Costco deliver 2x since but going anywhere that doesn't offer adequate delivery services require planning and time - which you can't get back. You can save money but you can't save time. In Vietnamese there's a thing called "com thang" which means monthly rice. I don't know who coined that term but it basically means a month's worth of meals that includes all essentials: vegetables, protein, and soup (canh). For the service I use it's $20 for 3 meals. In essence it's $20 a day. I have been ordering 2 days's worth ($40) for nearly a month and I can't say enough good things about their service and quality of food. Gavin and I do not eat Vietnamese food regularly. There are certain things I wouldn't make because it's not worth the time and effort to me; but since ordering from here it forced me to not only try new things but also eat vegetables. I do eat vegetables but when was the last time you can say you've consumed bitter melon? It helps reduce blood sugar and it helps fight cancer. Ordering is easy and paying is easy. I Venmo and pickup my meals every Monday. There's 2 locations you can potentially pickup food from. It surely saves me time and it stays fresh the entire week. I've booked Heaven's Kitchen so many times for events and I am always satisfied every time! The menu is such a nice refreshing experience being that it is Asian Fusion. To start off, Heaven's kitchen offered us a complimentary tasting for their full banquet menu. We didn't try many tasting because we thought their modern Asian fusion food was perfect for our wedding. Everything also tasted great. We wanted the gold banquet which came with 8 courses, 1of it being salmon. I wanted a white fish and had requested that. They gladly accommodated us with no hesitation. Thuy was so nice to work with! All communication was through her and everything was clear and organized. She was so nice and offered many times if she can assist me with anything..even with things that had nothing to do with the catering. The day of, her staff was very nice and accommodating. We booked Heaven's Kitchen for our wedding in April 2024 at Casa Real, for about 140 people, served family style. The food was absolutely delicious, and all of our guests were raving about how delicious the food was. The appetizers in particular were a huge hit. Before the reception, my wife's Vietnamese father was interested in seeing if Asian food in America could be any good, and he was astonished at how delicious the food actually was. Thuy was very good about working with us around people with dietary restrictions. We had a number of folks that were vegetarian or had shellfish allergies, so she had the chefs prepare vegetarian plates that would be served coursed. We also requested chopsticks, as the venue did not have any of their own, and Thuy was able to source enough for all of our guests. Most weddings I've been to have decent, but unremarkable food. I am happy to say that the food Heaven's Kitchen served was excellent. The only thing I'd note is that Heaven's Kitchen might be a bit slow to respond to early emails. I think our initial inquiry took a week to respond, and some of the other emails had a lag time of a few days. They become much more responsive as the event day gets closer though, so I wouldn't worry much about it. read more

Went to a wedding where these guys catered the food. It's passable for anyone who has not eaten Asian food very often, or Asians that don't eat anything besides their own food. The Asian-fusion theme they have going is what gets most people interested, but beyond that, the food is bland and not very tasty, and they focus more on presentation than taste. When we left, no one at our table wanted to even take the leftover food (and there are a ton left) so you get an idea of how awful it was. I will give you two versions of our experience with Heaven's kitchen! The short version : Great food equivalent to 1 Michelin Star, beautiful presentation, Chef was trained professionally , quality ingredients and great service. Long version: We hired Heaven's kitchen for a sit down dinner for 20adults and 10 Teenagers. The theme we requested was French Food. We specifically ask for Foie Gras, Wagyu beef, and fish to be part of the menu. We talked over the menu and Chef John suggested a bunch of dishes. He is very knowledgeable and can help you built a menu to your needs. In the end we agreed to go with a 4 course dinner: * Squash soup with smoked crispy bacon * Braised Pork Belly with pan seared Tuna * Grouper with Miso Glaze served with Roasted Pepper ,Turnips and Heart of Palms * Kobe New York Steak with seared Foie Gras on a bed of Wild Mushroom with Demi Glace (Please refer to pictures for these 4 course) Chef John and his staff of 3 people came to house at 5:00Pm to set up. He brought his homemade pate for appetizers and his staff served Champagne to the group while we were mingling. We sat down for dinner at 7:30PM and it went without a glitch. While Chef John was in the kitchen preparing the food, we had two people serving and pouring the wine for us. It felt like we were eating at a 1 Star Michelin Star, which is very difficult to get this award (see note below***). We enjoyed every single dish that came out and there was not a crumb left on our plate. Over all, dinner was a real success! All of us were really impressed with the food and believe me when I said we are not easily impressed so kudos to Chef John and his crew! Chef John went to Culinary school and it definitely translate into the preparation and presentation of his food. He used nothing but the best ingredients money can buy! I've been to two weddings that Heaven's Kitchen has catered and they've never failed to disappoint! Everything is delicious, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My favorite is their lobster. Heaven's Kitchen cater my friends engagment party and all I have to say is DELICIOUS. The food was just perfect. Time wise and how it was all prepared. My favorite was the tuna tar tar appeitizer and for the entrees it was the mushroom garlic noodle along with a side of salmon. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends. read more

A friend recommended us to Heaven's kitchen for our wedding back in June and my wife and i just fell in love with the food at the tasting. The Chef John Tran was very flexible in working with us to make our special day go off without a hitch. Not that anyone had to though my wife just loved John's menu for his Traditional Vietnamese banquet, and for the price how could we refuse such quality? All in all the experience was A+ the staff was well mannered and attentive to all of our guests needs, i even saw them polishing the dishes before the guests arrived! . I first fell in love with John Tran's food through his (now closed) restaurant in Mountain View: Castro Point. I kept coming back for all the new and interesting tasting menus that he put together. The food is always delicious and beautifully presented. When I found out that the restaurant was closing, I was crushed. Luckily, I can still enjoy his food through his catering business - Heaven's Kitchen. At the opening of Artisan Wine Depot in Mountain View, Heaven's Kitchen did the catering and the food went fast. I went to a wedding back in Oct that Heaven's Kitchen catered, I was pleasantly surprised with every dish. Usually when I go to weddings, I don't expect much when it comes to the food, since its cooked in such large quantities the food tends to be over cooked or dry and the quality suffers. At this particular wedding however, everything came out hot and fresh as if we just ordered it. I liked the family style dining and they did something I haven't seen before, the first couple courses came out in order, but the last 3 courses came out together. They brought out their steak course, sea bass, and fried rice all at one time, I like the fact that I can enjoy my rice with their main entrees, its was a subtle touch but all of us at the table noticed. The food was great, everything cooked just right and well seasoned. It was different from your typical asian style weddings, you can tell the chef has some culinary backround with the way he added french and americana elements to his dishes. The dishes that stuck out to me was their duck confit, lobster in a cognac cream sauce, seabass, and fried rice. The fried rice was cooked with egg and butter, it was simple but had flavor and wasn't overbearing to eat with the steak and seabass. My two favorites was their seafood salad appetizer and miso seabass if i remember correctly. Now I know who to go to when I need catering done! My least favorite was the soup, it was a thai inspired seafood soup, I think it could be because I am not a fan of thai soups in general. I was so impressed with their work, I am having them cater my wedding this coming September. My fiance and I went to a couple tastings with them, I like the fact that they can cook different cuisines, they range from french to asian to americana and so on, so you can choose dishes that fits your style. I know most of my family members that will be attending my wedding are not adventurous eaters, so I think this is a good way of introducing them to dishes they otherwise would never try. From going to a wedding they catered and having tastings with them, I am confident that they will make my special night perfect. read more

All my guests enjoyed and raved about the food and service from Heaven's Kitchen. I had a multicultural wedding since I am Vietnamese/Chinese and my husband is Caucasian. I was worried to find food that would match both our families, and the Asian-American fusion food from Heaven's Kitchen was perfect for us. My Asian family enjoyed it because it was a new and unique twist to typical wedding food from Chinese restaurants. My husband's family enjoyed the 8 course meal that they got beside the normal "three course/dry chicken meal" they would typical get from weddings. I wanted to avoid having my wedding at a Chinese restaurant, and I was lucky that Heaven's Kitchen was around to offer new food and suggest other locations. The packages and relationships Heaven's Kitchen has with venues was actually reasonably priced. The cost came out to about the same if I would go to a Chinese restaurant. And since I went with Heaven's Kitchen I was able to get better food, service, ambiance, and location for about the same price. I will be recommending Heaven's Kitchen to all my family and friends. read more
