I wish i could give a 5! The produce and meat are fresh. Service is good/great. Prices are "FARE" on most items. In store sales are really good. My only rub is their coupons that come in the mail for people in this area. I realize we have had a COVID environment so I give them a pass for not having items available. But as time has gone on they are well aware of their inventory and ability to order. So I am not sure why they stopped doing rain checks. The meat coupons are not on pat with other stores ads for the week. The ones that are good they have limited supply so are sold out (with no rain checks) quickly. Wish I could give them a 5 and all my business but sadly cannot. read more

Love this store!!! Fareway never disappoints. As many others have said, the meat department is the star of this show! One of the best things about The meat department here isn't just the wonderful steaks on other meats, but also they have Crispitos in the meat department. Yes they have the crispitos we all remember from school! We buy them frequently. Always a good selection, they aren't Hy-Vee or Bakers but they always have the "few items we need" when we don't feel like going to one of the super size stores. Big town setting, small town feel. No really... remember walking into that small town grocery store and it having that quaint, we are here to serve you, yes our prices are a tad higher, but our meat department is amazing feel? Don't remember that? Well... When you hear of or mention Fareway I would bet that the first thing you hear is "Wow, amazing meat department." That statement is true. You know that if you go on the weekend because customers are stacked five deep for every helper (and they have a lot of help.) You want a certain type of cut? If it isn't in the display, they will go to their walk in cooler, pull out what you want, cut it how you want it, wrap it, and send you on your merry way. How do prices compare? It isn't your big box store (in most cases.) This is a meet the meat man/women place and the selection and quality of product shows. Check it out. The rest of the store: Fareway has your basics. You can go with a full list and come away with everything you need. The thing that makes Fareway a cut above is their ability to stock local, or hard to find, or off the wall, etc.... products. I find myself going to Fareway for a particular brand of pickle and BBQ sauce. Service: Service isn't something mentioned often when it comes to a grocery store but Fareway has something special here. I recently visited on a Thursday night at 8p.m. The meat department had at least 5 people behind the counter. I saw at least 3 other people stocking and cleaning. That brings me to check out. If there is more than one person in line, they call more checkers. No 3 or 4 deep (unless it is the weekend.) Their staff all wear white collared shirts that add to that small town, we care feel. Fareway has a few locations around town so be sure and seek them out. If it isn't close to you, it is definitely worth the drive just for the meat. Cheers! read more

Fareway isn't trying to be everything to everyone. And thank goodness! The store has the feel and hours of a small town grocery. Anyone who grew up outside the city will feel right at home in Fareway. You can find everything you need, maybe not everything you want. But where Fareway wins, hands down, is in the meat department. You want it, you got it, the way you like it. Want your chops cut 1.25 inches thick and wrapped singly? No problem. The butchers are well trained and provide excellent customer service. Every now and then, Fareway has a meat sale and that's when we pounce, stocking up the freezer with items like bacon-wrapped filets for $4.99. Grilled, these wonders taste just like the goods you get from a higher-end steakhouse, and at a fraction of the cost. Fareway, you've got a fan in me. read more

This store is a joke! A friend & I were kicked out for having a service dog ‍ in the store even though the dog was being held! The manager said it wasn't allowed but yet I have been to the store for the last 2 years. No issues. I will no longer shop or recommend this place to anyone! I will also spread the word to everyone I know about how bad their customer service is and how we were treated! Also I think the news / media should know about this I'm sure it make a great story! I would recommend Walmart or Target or any other store besides this one! read more

This is my family's go to grocery store in town for the freshest meats. Their deli is just killer! The butchers and clerks provide truly exceptional service time and time again. We make the best burgers with their fresh beef chopped up daily. And it's just the cherry on top to grab a pack of thick sliced cheese. I highly recommend any of the Fareway brand products. The Fareway tomato sauce with basil I wanna say is a couple bucks and just throws national brands out the water. So good. They've been having great deals on fresh fruit and produce as well. Tasty, in- season strawberries and eggplant for under a dollar! read more

Great grocery store. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Even though it's a small store they have a really good selection of products.

A great little store. Great meats and produce. They have a good selection of groceries, not as many as someplace like Hy Vee, but usually what I need. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful, I now live about 6 blocks from the store so it is easy for me to head there when I need something. read more

I can't tell you how many times I have been told "Fareway - they have great meat!!!" So in need of a nice prime rib that is where I went. I honestly passed up the rest of the store and headed straight back to the meat dept. (Actually - I think that is where most of the shoppers were lined up.) They were helpful and very friendly. Although the prime rib was not on sale, there were several cuts of beef that were, and I couldn't pass some of them up. The prime rib was excellent and fingers crossed it will be warm enough soon to head out to the grill to try some of the yummy looking cuts that are in the freezer. read more

Born In Boone, Iowa location of corporate offices for Fareway we grew up with our local store.
