Get a second opinion. The more serious the condition, the more reason to ensure you have all your options explained to you. We did not.

I want to start by saying that I genuinely empathize with in-network physicians right now. The…read moreadministrative burden, insurance pressures, and volume expectations placed on doctors are enormous, and I don't doubt that Dr. Baginski works very hard. That said, my experience was that the practice feels overextended to the point where patient care suffers. Despite having a large staff, my visits with Dr. Baginski were extremely brief (on the order of a few minutes), and there was little opportunity to ask questions, discuss the full clinical picture, or feel heard. I often felt like decisions were being made at me rather than with me. In my case, I was dealing with a complex situation involving abnormal uterine bleeding, iron-deficiency anemia, and multiple downstream symptoms. I was hoping for a more comprehensive, investigative approach, but the pace of the visit made that difficult. When care is rushed at that level, it's hard for patients to feel confident that all contributing factors are being thoughtfully considered. I imagine this practice may have grown very popular over time, which speaks to Dr. Baginski's reputation and experience. Unfortunately, it now feels like the volume may be too high to allow for the kind of careful, patient-centered care that complex cases require. This may be a good fit for patients with straightforward needs who are comfortable with a very fast-moving, high-throughput model. For patients with more complicated or evolving issues who need time, discussion, and a holistic approach, it may not be the right match.

TLDR; Dr. Prattes is great; however dealing with the office and insurance makes it not worth going…read more I went to Dr. Prates office on 12/03/2020 for an annual physical and bloodwork. His office was in my network, I called the previous day and they said they could get me in the next day. When I arrive the receptionist, who is also the doctor's wife, asks me if I have met my deductible on my insurance. I told her that I had, she said that was fine but she would have to hear it from the insurance company and requested that I call my insurance company so she could get confirmation from them. I thought it was strange, but called my insurance company (United Healthcare) waited 20+ minutes on hold and finally reached a woman who confirmed I had reached my deductible. Once confirmed I had met my deductible I was ushered into an examination room and soon after Dr. Prattes came in. Dr. Prattes is professional, easy to talk to, and happy to answer any medical questions. His examination was thorough and we mostly talked about science fiction novels. Next the nurse came in to draw my blood, the blood draw went smoothly. On leaving Dr. Prates discussed we could have a phone call following the results of my blood draw to discuss the results. He said the office would call when the results were in. I paid a $20 copay for my in person visit and paid an additional $10 copay for the future phone call when my results come in, I saw Mrs. Prattes write this down on my chart. I was told they would give me a call in 1 to 2 weeks when my results were in and I left. This is mostly where my issues start. I did not receive any phone calls or voicemails for a month and decided to call in on 01/07/21. I spoke with an admin who passed the phone to Mrs. Prattes. I asked if I could get the results of my bloodwork, she said I would have to come in to get my results and she said that I did not yet meet my deductible so I would have to pay for a visit. I explained to her that I had already paid for a reading of my bloodwork over the phone. She said that the office does not usually do this, to which I said we had discussed at length on my in person visit and I paid for the follow up phone call and visit. She said that I have not met my deductible and would have to pay for a full visit. We went back and fourth here for a while where I insisted I had already paid for a visit and paid for a follow up phone call. She insisted it was my fault for not following up sooner, to which I answered how could I know when my results would be in. After more back and fourth she told me my bloodwork looked fine, no other details. Not a pleasant experience for a straightforward physical and lab work. Really seems Mrs. Prattes is obsessed with deductibles and getting their money, which they are entitled to; however I believe I already paid.

Dr. Benderev is extremely experienced and takes the time to explain everything clearly and calmly. The procedure itself was incredibly fast and efficient--about 14 minutes and everything was completed smoothly. I honestly expected it to be more stressful, but it was much easier than I imagined. The staff is also great, and I want to specifically mention Jasmin at the front desk. She was very kind, welcoming, and helpful from the beginning, which made a great first impression and set the tone for the whole visit. Overall, this is top-quality care, excellent organization, and true professionalism. My mother had Dr. Underwood as her primary doctor many years ago (~2015). My sister and I talked to…read moreDr. Underwood about our mom's initial signs of cognitive decline. She and her office staff were not at all helpful with our concerns and said she was doing fine based on their brief conversations at check-ups. This was incredibly frustrating since we (my dad and sister) knew our mom was not understanding certain topics anymore. We even talked to the medical staff with our dad to have paperwork signed that would allow us to have access to her medical records so we could help explain to our mom what her other medical situations were, things that mom normally took care of on her own. Dr. Underwood's staff did not have any suggestions on how to go about this. We figured it out on our own and presented them with paperwork signed by mom that would allow us and our dad to receive medical information, but the office staff never communicated with us about her health. Eventually Dr. Underwood evaluated her more seriously after our constant questions. She never once had advice on memory care facilities or other doctors, except for the neurologist who told us she had Alzheimer's disease, at which point some type of dementia was very very obvious. We should have switched doctors then to someone who could help with the long journey we had ahead of us. A few years later when our mom was having a hard time swallowing pills, we asked for adjustments to medications she had prescribed. Dr. Underwood insisted on seeing her in the office even after we told her that she was not able to make this type of trip. She said she could not do anything for us without an in-person visit (telemedicine was not a common practice then). Understandably, a blood test was needed, but Dr. Underwood did not make any attempt to understand how we were well past the point of taking certain medications with this dementia status. Dr. Underwood never made any attempt to talk with us about other options, such as hospice, geriatric specialists, or memory care facilities. It was an unbelievable amount of heartache for our family and she caused a sad situation to be very very frustrating and, more importantly, caused our actions to be quite a bit delayed as we figured out what we should do on our own. I hope that she and her staff will improve this behavior with this common disease. It is clear that dementia patients cannot advocate for themselves and they are not likely to admit they have issues or ask for help. I now have an aunt going through a similar medical situation and her doctor has been very supportive about options for the patient and helping her family navigate this. I have many regrets about my actions during this time of caring for my mom and I feel that if I had been proactive in changing doctors, it would have helped our family tremendously.
